I have also grown it successfully as a winter wheat in zone 8b technically, but for the last few years has been more like 7a. Thank you! |

The potatoes perform pretty much as advertised (variations in yield and quality I suspect have more to do with how well I prepped the beds and the weather). I really like being able to get unusual varieties. This year, I tried the Adirondack Blue and was amazed at the yield of these excellent blue-fleshed roasters. I'll keep buying seed potatoes from Wood Prairie. |

That sounds like a family dinner to me. Again, thank you. |

We talked about my concerns and they removed some of the charges. They offered to do more, but I did not feel right since I would still use the items. I was very suprised in today's world that this happened... toooo often the new normal is to stick it to the customer....this company went the extra step and called me to satify the order. Positive | kessm (1 review) | On Sep 21, 2010, kessm Frankfort, IL wrote: I have used this company for many years. They are always helpful and the seed potatoes are great, including the King Harry's. But the best item has to be the whole wheat flour. I love the texture and flavor. It is never bitter and makes great breads and muffins. I cannot be without it. |
Positive | lauramatt (3 reviews) | On Jun 3, 2009, lauramatt Ashley, MI wrote: I have never grown potatoes before and placed my first order with this company. I fully expected to see the semi-dehydrated, crinkled seed potatoes you see in the stores. The potatoes I received looked good enough to eat. I even messed up and planted them when it was too cold outside and I was afraid they'd rot. My plants are absolutely gorgeous! They sent me a free seed packet, Dorinny Corn, which I've planted and am fully looking forward to eating. I will absolutely be buying all my supplies I can get from them for now on. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this company. |

I received my order yesterday and my potatoes arrived in perfect shape and the quality is outstanding. A free packet of seeds was included and appreciated. |
Positive | julsie (6 reviews) | On Aug 29, 2008, julsie Ruther Glen, VA wrote: This was my first year to grow potatoes, so I ordered a sampler pack. The plants are growing like crazy! The website lets you choose your shipping date, and my seed potatoes arrived right when I wanted them. I intend to order again next year. |
Positive | Takela (4 reviews) | On Jun 9, 2008, Takela Clarksville, MD wrote: This is my second year growing Wood Pararie Farms fingerling potatoes. Both their seed potatoes and their retail potatoes are wonderful. It is expensive to ship potatoes but nobody near me sells the fingerlings so I treat myself occasionally. |
Positive | manuretea (11 reviews) | On Apr 22, 2008, manuretea Medina, OH (Zone 5b) wrote: Wood Prairie charged a huge amount for shipping. My order was prepaid over four months ago, they found themselves short for an item I paid $15 for and substituted two packs of their seeds which I do not need nor want. No communication! I ordered from them because they were featured in a well read magazine and highly recommended. On April 23rd, 2008, manuretea changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: One of the owners did finally contact me. I can understand shortfalls but I feel it is reasonable to contact the customer if they choose to make a substitution rather than a refund! |
Positive | arhogfan56 (5 reviews) | On Feb 28, 2008, arhogfan56 Hallsville, TX wrote: This is my first try at planting potatoes. I love growing oddballs so I wanted to try the blue potatoes. I called and ordered 21/2 pounds of seed potatoes. They arrived when I asked them to be. They were large tubers packed beautifully in a nice paper sack with a postcard on it. I just got around to planting them yesterday but they were spouting and look like they will make some potatoes. They produce a beautiful catalog and send recipes to your email if you want. Recommended. They need more publicity. |
Positive | jfoxinnc (1 review) | On Oct 22, 2006, jfoxinnc Raeford, NC wrote: We ordered 3 varieties (Butte, Red Cloud, and Yukon Gold) from WoodPrairie Farm last spring and did we ever get a fabulous potato crop! We have been eating potatoes every day, giving potatoes away, and still have 3 large containers of them. Each variety produced very delicious potatoes. We will order from them again this year. |
Positive | Noodles (13 reviews) | On Jul 11, 2003, Noodles Olympia, WA wrote: The seed potatoes arrived in excellent condition (I live on the opposite coast) with very helpful planting and growing instructions. I have only grown potatoes inadvertently in the compost heap before now. These seem to be doing great. Product and shipping costs seem a bit pricey, but so far were worth it. Beautiful catalog. The pride in their company and product is obvious. |
Positive | NancyC (2 reviews) | On Dec 7, 2002, NancyC wrote: This is the best place to purchase your seed potatoes. Consistantly good quality, best production and they always arrive at the proper time to plant (we request they ship at a certain time as our zip codes don't fit the charts they come up with) Numerous varieties to choose from. I no longer order potatoes from any other company. |
Positive | Terry (122 reviews) | On Apr 9, 2002, Terry Murfreesboro, TN (Zone 7a) wrote: Order arrived exactly when I specified; the seed potatoes were perfect, blemish-free and held up great for a week before I planted. The "easter egg" potatoes I ordered were a hit with my family. Definitely a first-rate company! |
Positive | JK (3 reviews) | On Jan 10, 2002, JK wrote: I have always received my order on time and have always gotten high yields of potatoes. Last year my potatoe plants were decimated by colorado potatoe beetles(I do not use pesticides) and I still received an enormous yield. I am very happy. |
