Really bad consideration for the customer! I ordered seeds from them online, using a credit card for payment. By error (probably mine) the expiration date didn't enter correctly, but it took Jung over two weeks to U.S. MAIL me a form letter asking for the correct information, although they had both a phone number and email address. I figured that by the time I sent the form letter back and my order was processed and mailed it would be too late in the season to bother with starting the seeds. I'm not ever placing another order--there are too many fine nurseries out there that treat customers with care.

A few weeks ago I ordered strawberry plants so I could get them planted ASAP...well, as of last week, they still had not arrived, and I tried calling their phone lines, but it was constantly busy. This is a disgraceful way to run a business...I agree with a previous poster that Jung needs to hire more people if they don't want to lose their business. I emailed them several times, and no reply. Finally, this past weekend, I drove 30 miles to a local nursery, bought my strawberry plants there, and came home and got them planted. I emailed Jung again, this time telling them to cancel my order...and guess what? Within 2 hrs. I got an email back telling me that they had indeed cancelled my order...I will never buy from Jung again. I purchased other plants and trees from Miller Nurseries in NY, and the customer service levels between the two nurseries were not even comparable. Jung stinks.

Jungs Seeds is a very good example of why it is a bad idea for great small companies to expand too much, too fast. This is also the problem with corporate America today (and the same phenomenon which is now really hurting our economy). It seems like Jung's was a really good company-- and many of its new subsidiaries were good companies-- but now Jungs is unable to handle the volume and the entire situation. THE WAIT ON THE ORDER AND CUSTOMER SERVICE LINES IS UNACCEPTABLE. I have tried a dozen times to get through and have never managed to get through after 20 to 30 minute waits. They try to justify it by saying we're working hard, yada yada, well HIRE SOME MORE PEOPLE!
My story... in early or mid-March I sent an e-mail saying "hey what's up, I was going to order some roses from you -- a first time customer-- but I can't get through." To their credit, they called me the next day or soon thereafter and took my order of four rosebushes. The rosebushes were a bit slow. I had specifically said I needed FULLY DORMANT roses because of my climate -- if they were leafed out they would get knocked back. well my four bare root roses arrived and one was dead as a doornail... the other three had obviously been in transit for some time and had those little sprouts that look like they've never seen the light (and they were not small sprouts but two inches long- obviously they'd been there a while). Having no choice but to plant out, I did, and mulched well to try to protect/harden off the little shoots. But a 22-degree night bit them. So now I have one dead rose, and three unhappy roses, and I CANNOT GET THROUGH on the danged customer service line to get replacements. We'll see if they answer my e-mail, but it's a bit late for me. I'm turned off. I really like working with small nurseries who don't have this kind of volume -- where you get a human on the phone first ring.

This is my last year to order from Jungs. I ordered 2 passion flower plants which arrived completely without foliage. Despite being watered and well looked after, both stems dried up and I pronounced both plants dead. After days of getting an "all lines are in use" message multiple times a day I sent am email that was never answered. When I finally did get through the wait was about 15 minutes.

There was a promise to replace the plants (and I told the rep that it had better have foliage). Not worth the hastle in the future.

This was the 'main' company from which I was intending to order my seeds this spring. The seeds not only took over 3 weeks to arrive (seeds mind you, not plants), but several were on back order, and when they did arrive (via first class mail), some seeds were simply stuck into a regular envelope and allowed to pass through the postal service's machinery and equipment without any form of protection. Granted, Jung's did replace those seeds when I called to inquire as to why they weren't even placed into a padded envelope -- however, the hold time for customer service was 25 minutes! I have vowed never to use Jung's again and instead intend to use Pinetree Garden Seeds for all of my future seed purchases. Jung's is too overpriced considering the level of service that is received -- if you can call it 'service.'

I'm a first (and LAST) time consumer of Jung. I ordered seeds in early February, tried many times to call them in March when I hadn't received any, and finally got hold of somebody after several days of trying their email and phone number. In a few days I received all the seeds but one (aegeratum on back order). The catalog hadn't told how soon one must plant the lisianthus I ordered - once I got the seeds, I found it takes about 4 months to germinate, and this is way too long for the time I wanted to have them in bloom! By the middle of April, I still hadn't received my back order - another couple days of emailing, no reply; calling, put on hold; and I finally wrote them I wanted to cancel the back order. I haven't received credit yet, but am hopeful this will show up on my credit card statement at the end of this month. Anyway, I feel their customer service is nil!

I was excited to receive the Jung catalog this year. I ordered seeds online in late March via credit card. As of today (April 25), I've received nothing. I finally got through to customer service this week after about 20 minutes on hold. I was told my order was in the "shipping room" but couldn't get any explanation or commitment as to when they might reach me.

I read the comments from the Jung rep, and don't doubt that they are working hard. But when you acquire troubled businesses, you have to expect problems, and hire more staff! And if you're missing some seed, for heaven's sake, send the rest of the order and LET ME KNOW.

I buy most of my plants and seeds online, and have been almost universally pleased. Jung's performance is a big disappointment.

I'd put together a large plant order, but have not placed it since I have no idea when (or if) it will arrive. If the seeds ever show up, I plan to return them - it's too late now!

I ordered an item that was totally unacceptable when installed, I sent an email to Jungs on 3/10/03 and rec. a 'you'll have to wait' email back. Since then I have tried to call, I have snet emails and even a fax trying to get an update. No luck, I have traded with them for years and this is NOT good customer service. The very least, they could let me know what is going on. If I had the phone number fot the corporate office I would attempt to call. I am upset that the 'negligence' of the customer service dept reflects on the whole abnd would like the CEO to see the issue.

After decades of mail ordering with several companies, I chose to do business with only Jung because of their quality, price, and replacement policies. In the past few years however, I feel their quality has declined [many more plants are dying and fewer seeds germinating] and I have not been getting my order in a timely manner. They will replace anything or give credit, but it's too late to help my garden. This was their last chance with me. I too am waiting.

Placed an order back in Feb for seeds which needed to be started indoors ahead of planting time. The order was placed on their website, and my credit card charged. To date, I have not received the seeds, and when I tried to call the phone numbers listed on their website, I got a message saying that the phone number was no longer valid or could not be completed as dialed (yes, I double, triple, and quadruple checked the #, with no luck.). I have read the other messages here, and realize they may be having problems...however, the responsible thing to do would be to post such information on their website, and state that long delays may be possible. And to have your phone #'s not working or disabled...well, that doesn't inspire confidence. This was my first time ordering from them...I doubt I will again.

I placed an order on Jan 28. The check was cashed on Feb 7, but still no seeds. I did get an e-mail response that they were busy & that my order would be shipped sometime this week. Seeds that I ordered from 2 other companies on the same day are now PLANTS! One week to cash the check & 7 weeks to ship? Something is wrong with this picture!

I don't think the people at Jung's know the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE NEVER registered a public complaint in my life; however the treatment I received was atrocious. I wonder if the owners are unaware of this, or if they don't care. I ask to speak to a manager, I was told by this person that she was the manager and hung up on me, even a second try produced no results.

In 2001, I saw the highly invasive plant purple loosestrife, Lythrum salicaria, being sold at their retail store under a different common name. The formation of dense stands of purple loosestrife results in the loss of wetland habitat for the establishment and spread of native aquatic vegetation. It is my opinion that it's unethical to sell this plant as an ornamental, and downright WRONG to disguise the plant under a different name. I won't shop the store or the catalog for this reason.

I had a very poor experience with Jung last year. The germination rate of fully 1/3 of the seeds was terrible. Worse than awful. I am a small commercial grower, and know when I have received bad seed. I wrote to them, and instead of replacing or refunding the seed, as other companies would do, they had me mail the remaining seed back for testing. I never heard back from them, although I called and left several messages for the lady I had been dealing with. I choose not to do business with a company that won't stand behind its product.

I placed my first order with Jung this year, only two different flower varieties - had poor germination with both, but especially the African daisies. I wrote to them in April asking how to germinate and explaining all the different conditions I had tried (including the ones on the package). They responded quickly, and promised new seeds. The seeds never arrived. It wasn't worth the hassle to try to get them replaced. I'll just shop elsewhere next year. I've had too many good experiences elsewhere.

Based on the good feedback in FAQ, I ordered from Jung's. Three items did not grow and the nepata I received was not true to name. Although I was cheerfully given replacements, substitutes and credits, I do not plan to order from Jung's again as fully half the nursery stock I ordered was a failure.

I live about two miles from one of the Jung's stores in the Madison, WI area. All I can say is I have bought from them and other local nurseries as well as mail order companies and the bulbs, plants, and seeds from Jung's aren't on my great or even good quality list. I have had much better luck with the two other nurseries in the area, and the bulbs I got from them were moldy. Their staff always seems "swamped" and is usually less knowledgeable than the staff at the other local companies. I have had better luck and cheaper prices even from mail order suppliers. I have tried them over and over, thinking I just had bad luck with one thing or another-and it's always the same. Mediocre results at best. NO THANKS!

This company should be on the five worst list. I got their catalog unsolicited and ordered because the prices were low - BIG MISTAKE. Many plants didn't even make it alive to my house - their stems were damaged due to poor packing. They did replace them, but even these plants took three years to develop to the same size as good plants take one. BUYER BEWARE!
