Recently ordered seeds from Evergreen. No confirmation of shipping was sent and the website did not update my order status, so it looked like my order was never shipped. When I tried to contact the company about the status, all I received was a copy of the order confirmation I received at checkout--no reply to my question about the whereabouts of my seeds. They ended up arriving the next day, so they were probably shipped shortly after I made the order, but I had no way of knowing.

In addition, I believe the seeds are old. I'm getting decent germination on seeds which normally are viable for many years, but those that are more time-sensitive are not germinating and are probably too old to be viable.

I would not purchase from them in future.

While the seeds we ordered showed up in short time there's no confirmation of the order and no way to contact the company. The e-mail doesn't get responded to. I ordered 9 different varieties and spent more than I should as I ordered some for my sister in the U.K. Out of 3 types tried germinating the Chinese cucumbers came out early and strong. The tomatoes and radishes have 0 germination. I'm reluctant to test the rest. Like others have stated there's no dates on the seeds so you are really taking a gamble with no way to get your money back. I'd pass on this outfit.

When you order on-line you expect a response back confirming your order. Nothing here.

Then you want to contact the company and they don't reply to your e-mail.

There is just a P.O box and no phone number.

I'm in the process of disputing the $100+ charge with Citi.

I should have done my homework on the site before I ordered.

I placed an order with this company last month and to date have received no merchandise, no invoice and no response to e-mails that I've sent. I read mixed reviews on this company, however, I think their customer service is terrible and would not recommend them for doing any business! I've also alerted the BBB.

THE SHORT OF IT

* No packaging date printed on seed packets
* Terrible germination - 0% to 20%
* No contact info on the website

I will not purchase from Evergreen again.

THE LONG OF IT:

Of the seeds I bought, I have only tried to sprout the basil seeds so far.

Germination rates:

0 of 12 seeds planted = 0% holy basil from Evergreen Seeds

3 of 15 seeds planted = 20% Siam Queen Thai basil from Evergreen seeds

6 of 6 seeds planted = 100% Basil picked up late in the season from where it was stored OUTDOORS at Home Despot

And just for kicks and grins - totally NOT basil, but planted at the same time as the basil in the same flat:

21 of 24 curry leaf seeds = 88% germination for something that is notoriously fragile and short-lived, and which I mishandled when I first got it to boot. Still most of the seed came up and is thriving.

The only stuff that did badly was the Evergreen seed. And it did VERY badly. The Siam Queen that did come up is MUCH smaller and slower than the standard sweet basil from Home Despot.

I'm about to try some of the coriander seed (2 varieties, Slow Bolt and Asia Choice) they sent me. I will try the holy basil again and also the Thai lemon basil, perilla and eryngo.

Basil seed is generally not that fragile and very easy to start from seed. It should be viable for 5 years when properly stored. At first I thought I had damaged the package during a move, but when I checked, that was a different package of seeds (had something spilled on it), not these. 20% germination is pretty bad, but ZERO?

Sadly, 2 of the 3 Siam Queen came up in the same cell, so I really will only have 2 plants to show for that, ultimately.

I will plant any remaining seed from Evergreen one seed to a cell, because if I DO manage to get any of it to come up, I don't want to lose a plant just because 2 of them happened to germinate in the same cell!

I would have given a neutral review while I check the rest of the seeds, but here's the thing.

None of these seed packets have a packaging date printed on them. I didn't know that was even legal. It doesn't make me feel confident as a consumer, especially given these low germination rates.

Secondly, there really IS no contact information on the website. I couldn't even find an e-mail address. There's a button on the navbar at the left that says "E-mail" but it just brings up a popup inviting you to select your e-mail app - which I don't have installed. If you right click on that you can choose "copy e-mail" and get it that way, but the less-savvy user probably isn't going to know that. I couldn't find it printed out anywhere. BTW, the e-mail address is:

eeseedsyh@aol.com

No phone # anywhere.

So - 0% to 20% germination, no reliable contact method short of getting in a car and driving to the physical address, and no telling when the seeds I purchased were actually packaged - even if my seed had come up properly with no packaging date I'd have been reluctant to deal with this operation again.

All things considered - there are many other sources out there for Asian vegetables. I'll stick with those in the future.

Will update with germination rates from the remaining seed.

The shipping experience was positive no issues with this. However, I’ve had issues with the seeds and germination rate plant consistency. I tried every way possible to get these seeds to germinate out of full packs of seeds I ended up with 4 tomato plants 7 squash plants the beans did fine the pepper seeds did nothing the egg plant 3 plants I used entire packs of seeds planting every two weeks to try to get something to grow. Out of the whole pack of lettuce seeds planted thick I got 7 heads of lettuce. The squash I used the whole pack of seeds to get the plants I have and some of the squash are bottle shaped and light green others are dark green and oval same pack of seeds but the icing on the cake was the onion seeds for the red bunching onions I finally picked a few of them today every single one is white I could have gotten the white seeds at walmart for .20 cents.
I bought the winged beans and I know they are hard to germinate so I took care to soak scrape and work with the seeds I finally got 2 to germinate but the plants after months of care are still only 7 inches tall. I named them Marge and Homer because I spent so much time babying them. Cucumbers ½ of them germinated that was one of the better ones. The cabbage seeds did nothing. I have written the company twice and had zero response to my emails. IMO I will never order from this company again. My order was over $40 I am not even sure what I have growing out there now. I planted in pots direct sow tried pre soak every trick in the book and nothing. I purchased from Gurneys no problem I bought from burpey wal-mart lowes home depot no problems with these seeds. If it was one pack of seeds I would not have taken the time to write the company or this review but it was pretty much the whole order other than the purple asparagus beans.

I placed my order on May 18 but still haven't receive my shipment as of to date. I emailed them but have not hear back from them. Same like previous complaints, I couldn't find any contact number that I could call.
I placed an order with Kitazawa on that same day and received the shipment on May 21. In the future I would buy from Kitazawa first before I consider Evergreen.

On April 11, 2009, I order some Asian seeds from Evergreen Y.H. Enterprises about 30 different kind of seeds and it cost me $825.00. I received the order on April 25, 2009. They did not sent all the seeds that I ordered. They was 4 different kind of seeds that are missing and they still charge me the full price on the order. I e-mail them 4 times since then and they never response. I search them on the internet (Google) and find a phone number which is 714-637-5769 but it was only a fax number. I know a good company will give their contact information out to their customer. I am scared because I am not able to get a hold of them at all. I don't know what kind of company that will not give their contact information to their customer. I know all good company strive to do their best to served they customer but Evergreen Y.H.enterprises did not do that. Instead they hide their contact information from their customer. Help please, If anybody know how to get a hold of this company. I need to talk to them. They took some much money from my credit card but did not provide me with all the products that I order.

There is no way possible to contact anybody in this company. I placed my order on the 21st and have tried to email them and call them to see when my order will be shipped the email was not valid and the phone went to the fax instead. How do you get hold of a company like this. They have already taken money out of my account. I would love to resolve this if I can get a hold of somebody.
