Sadly their latest catalog indicates they are no longer shipping anything anymore. We have purchased many bare rooted trees and shrubs, over the past 10 years, to green up my brothers property in Prince Edward County. All were delivered in wonderful condition and almost all have survived. Serious drought during several summers down there, toasted a couple of the birch we planted. They were probably not the best choice as the soil is thin and the limestone is deep. The trees we planted the first year, several willows, a walnut, maple, ash, cork tree, larch, and alder are still around and doing well. Sadly, a crab apple we had also planted, had it's bark striped a couple of years ago, the winter after it first produced flowers and fruit. We have replaced it with another from Gottard and will make more of an effort to protect it. We have also planted many shrubs, provided by Gottard, and all have done well. We got a serious bargain for purchases made. Prices have creeped up over the past few years to a more reasonable level. We are guessing that their stock has grown too large to ship bare rooted and/or it is not profitable to do so any longer. We also ordered and planted a number of their offerings at my sisters place near Parry Sound. Getting a response and confirmation of delivery was a pain. We wanted to tee up a weekend with diggers on board and I sent many messsages, to confirm delivery, which went unanswered. Shrubs did arrive on time, as luck would have it, but we were frustrated by their lack of response. We are planning a visit, as they are only about 4 hours away. How we are going to cram into the car, all the trees and shrubs my brother and his wife will want to pickup, remains to be seen.

Avid gardeners between Montreal and Ottawa should visit Gottard nurseries. A little tricky to locate but well worth the visit. Mr. Gottard has a fantastic collection of trees, shrubs, etc. All plants are adapted to local weather. Have purchased many shrubs here. Fantastic quality and size and you can't beat the prices anywhere. Call ahead for appointment. This is a must see. He usually publishes a list of plants available. He is passionate about his stock and the quality is top notch.
