Posted on July 18, 2013, updated July 18, 2013 Posted on June 13, 2013, updated July 18, 2013 3 ducks arrived DOA, another 2 died of chronic aspergillosis(I have reports and pictures to prove this). The dead ducks had bumblefoot that would require expensive surgery. 9 adult ducks jammed in a swan box. Box undamaged and arrived in 19 hours and these ducks were not just dead, the were rotting, makes me wonder if they were not dead before shipping? The seller refuses to acknowledge her wrong doing in shipping me sick/dead ducks and blames everyone except herself and her greed. Refuses to refund or acknowledge what she did. Google her name before you buy! Please, if you care for birds, do not buy or sell to her..I know I can't be the only one who she has done this to, please speak up and let others know so she can't do this any more! Slander is a lie, this is not slander, I have proof!

On July 18th, 2013, laladot added the following: Ok, I think the seller should become a writer, a nonfiction writer...the birds were NOT late, nor was the box DESTROYED by the USPS, and pictures were NOT received 2 weeks later. I work for the USPS and shipping sick animals is against the regulations. If anyone doubts me or what I am saying, please feel free to email me at lala1313100@gmail.com, I can show pictures, and necropsy reports, and emails from the seller proving what she is stating here is all untrue. Just google her and see the "real" person here...she is illegally shipping hundreds or birds to "satisfied" customer, really??? She amuses me with this BS.....I have proof from the agricultural departments in both incoming and outgoing states she is being investigated....PEOPLE, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!!!
On July 18th, 2013, laladot added the following: Oh, I should add I gave the birds water from the airport home, that is what the water is from and that is what pictures she has. The original picture of the dead birds.....dry as a bone and not "destroyed".

Buyer failed to follow up on arrival of birds with any photo proof (as requested) so we could file a claim on their behalf with the USPS. 2 weeks later buyer produced pictures that showed the box was complately destroyed during transit. The entire bottom of the box was wet, not just damp, but wet to where the white cardboard had turned grey it was so soaked through. ALL of the pre-installed by the factory bio-filters in the box were also missing around the entire bottom where the box had been soaked with water.

The birds were to arrive early the next morning after being shipped, but were hours late arriving, and they arrived in poor condition, some passed and the box in shambles.

We shipped in a box that was in perfect condition, ducks that were previous kept out on pasture. These breeds are meat producing livestock. Who if they had been handled properly by the shipping company would have arrived alive and well.

We (COF) have a standing policy of all claims being made within 24 hours of birds arriving (buyer failed to follow through) and filing insurance claims for those losses.

Buyer stated they had many birds of their own on property, and upon researching after shipping ducks to them it was discovered the buyer has dealt with a large number of medical issues including disease in their flock long before we (COF) were contacted about buying livestock from our farm.

Since we were not provided any proof of losses immediately after arrival we (COF) had no way of knowing what damage was done in shipping verse by the buyers neglect.

It is common practice by breeders (NOT HATCHERIES) to require proof of losses within 24 hours of birds arriving. Buyer failed do provide us with this proof.

We have shipped litterally hundreds of birds from chicks to full grown adult geese all over the country with many happy buyers on the receiving end.

We have shipped new goslings to buyers who suffered sudden losses months after buying from us, and included a free second gosling in the shipment so the new bird didnt have to travel alone. We strive to provide exactly what the buyer is paying for, but we sadly can not be held liable for mistreatment by the shipping company (USPS) or its employees.

We look to work with buyers, and have policies in place, in writing on our farms website available for all buyers to read before, during and after making a purchace. Links are included on all invoices to our website where all policies are covered in full.

I preordered 3 buff dewlap Toulouse goslings from Celtic Oaks. I was never told these goslings were not day olds when shipped. When I opened the box at the post office, 2 of the 3 were very dead, with rigor mortis and the third died the next day. The owner refused to refund my money, saying the post office had killed the goslings. She filed a claim with the post office which was denied, as the box was not damaged nor delayed. The owner if the company changed her stated policy on-line to say that she was not responsible if the post office killed any if the animals she shipped, and the customer was responsible for the loss. So not only fid I have the heartbreak of opening up a box with dead goslings as big as a cat, but now I am out $325. I hope anyone who is interested in buying mail order goslings avoids this company.

Customer had 2 DOA on arrival due to poor care in transit by shipping company. Customer had 3rd gosling alive on arrival, who lived for a week post arrival. Customer suddenly called saying the female had passed.

We offer insurance on ALL live bird shipments that travel via the USPS, we will file the claims for losses, however we do not have any control over which claims the USPS pays and does not pay. We offer no refunds on losses unless the USPS approves the customers claim. It is up to each buyer to select the insurance to cover their purchase, and to follow any and all instructions the USPS gives them concerning a claim. Failure to follow the requests of the USPS on a claim likely results in a denial. That is out of our (COF) control.

Goslings were shipped Monday April 15th Express over night, and were (per the shipping invoice) gauranteed the next day (April 16th). The goslings did not arrive until the following day (April 17th). The USPS was guilty of mishandling the box and not delivering within the promised time frame.

COF has always had a standing policy of not being held responsible for losses during shipping as the handling of the birds by the USPS is not always what we would like it to be. This is standard practice (not being responsible for losses in transit) by all breeders (NOT hatcheries). It can be seen in any number of ads for live birds for sale by any number of breeders across the country for everything from chicks to ducks to geese.

Age of goslings shipping WAS known by buyer per email exchange on April 11, 2013.

to me
Hi,

Is the invoice for two or three? I would like 3 if the extra is a female, but not if it is a male.

Monday would be fine. Are they day old? Are they sent to my post office and i pick up?

Thanks,

Celtic Oaks

I can reinvoice for a third, we do have an extra girl.

These will be 5 days old when we ship. We dont ship dewlaps at day old since they dont have head control and arent walking well yet.

They will arrive at your PO and they will call you to pick them up
