Wishing there was an option to select VERY NEGATIVE experience. Customer service policies and practices are horrible! Did not receive my seed potato order on the date in May requested so I waited several days and then called. I was told that they had tried to call me and left 2 voice message (which I didn't receive) because of the 3 types of potatoes I ordered one variety was sold out. They held up my entire order for that instead of shipping what they had in stock. She assured me my order would be shipped the following day. Waited 5 days and still no potatoes. Called again. Then I was told that another variety I ordered had been sold out since February so again nothing was shipped! And they had not tried to contact me again. Why wasn't I told in the first conversation that 2 varieties were sold out? Why did it take me contacting them multiple times? Why didn't their website tell me that they were sold out of certain varieties when I ordered? Can not recommend Irish Eyes but I can highly recommend High Mowing Seeds. I contacted them, placed an order over the phone and they arranged faster delivery so I would have them in two days. High Mowing Seeds has a new customer and Irish Eyes has a former customer who will tell all her gardening friends about the unpleasant experience with this company.

Ordered a pumpkin variety called 'Montana Jack' and received 25 seeds which all germinated. I was impressed and will be ordering again from them this spring.

Mine was a first-time order, of Blue Lake and Kentucky Wonder pole beans. I planted 36 seeds of each - as well as four other varieties from two other sources - in 2.5 inch pots in a warm place in my house on 3/31. Inoculum was applied. The other four varieties germinated within a few days and produced healthy seedlings that were transplanted into the garden on 4/14. The Blue Lake plants were slow to germinate and germination percentage was lower. The seedlings grew more slowly but were planted on 4/21. Of the 36 Kentucky Wonder seeds sown, only 19 germinated after 10 days. The resulting seedlings were stunted and deformed, and on 4/25 are not ready to be planted. I doubt if they would produce viable plants. I repeated the experiment on 4/14 with similar results, except that only eight of 36 Kentucky Wonder seeds germinated. Although Irish Eyes refunded the purchase price, I am not tempted to order from this company again.

I ordered seed potatoes because Burpees Seeds is not allowed to ship to WA state. The order was placed online on 3/21/2014 via paypal. They processed the payment on 3/22 and their website stated that the order was completed with delivery 3/23. On 3/25 I tried calling the company as well as sending them email. All emails bounced. They also didn't answer my calls. I navigated through their voice mail system and got two names that I could try to email: Alexa@irisheyesgardenseeds.com and Jessica@irisheyesgardenseeds.com. I finally got through by phone by selecting option #4(Jessica's customer service extension). I asked them the status of my order. They said "we're very busy, and that the order will go out in a week or week 1/2". I told them, they had already processed my payment. She responded that "this was a very busy time of year and that the best she can do was say that the order was going to be out in a week or so". Today, 4/4, I called American Express to let them know about my dissatisfaction and they said they would take care of it. In summary, I would never, ever use Irisheyesgardenseeds again. Good thing the order was placed via credit card, even if it was through Paypal.

All I can say about this company is to be careful. I was about to order some Orange Swiss Chard for $3.45 Grand Total, but when I got to the final checkout, I found that the minimum shipping charge was $15.45. Too bad, because I think this would be the best Orange Swiss Chard for me, but that shipping charge is just too much.

I wanted to visit Irish Eyes Garden Seeds yesterday and did a drive by. What a dump and I did't stop. I now understand the negative experience postings. Rusting farm equipment, cars, and all that was missing was a mangy dog scratching itself in the front yard.

Irish Eyes has great prices on organic seed, although a limited selection. I was able to find large packets of Maestro peas. Great prices on flats and cells and coco fiber. Also a wonderful product they have is a dry fish emulsion that will last forever. What I mainly come back to them for is onion plants. No one beats their onion prices because they let you get multiple pricing and still mix the varieties. Johnny's does not allow that. I can't afford the potatoes however.

I procrastinated about buying seed potatoes and when I finally decided to buy them, most places had sold out. I found that Irish Eyes still had stock in the varieties I wanted. I placed an order with them on line on Saturday, May 29, and I received my potatoes on Tuesday, June 8. Considering that the potatoes were shipped from Washington state to Pennsylvania, I consider that to be super speedy service.

Their catalog has a fair selection, the seed so far have been good quality. I was happy to find Irish Eyes seed sold at a local feed store and bought some and would have bought much more had they offered a larger variety on their racks, come to find out some varieties are only sold in the catalog which was a little disappointing. They also seem more expensive on some items than the other heirloom catalogs I purchase from so I opted to purchase the bulk of my seeds else where. If their catalog prices get a little more reasonable I would definitely buy more from them in the future because they are good seeds.

I ordered only 2 packets of onion seeds (wanted more, but out of stock) the first week in March. When I didn't receive anything by the end of March I called them and they said it was going out that day with a shipment of 500 others. Two weeks later... still no seeds. I called again and they said it was shipped at the beginning of March. Hmmmm. Called again a week later and they said they would send another priority mail. 8 days later... still nothing! By the way, I had already been billed for it. They told me today they wouldn't send a 3rd time and they would credit my account. We have never had any problems receiving shipments and have this week got seeds from other companies.

I ordered two packets of seeds 3/31 and still haven't received. I ordered them even though their shipping charges were very high because I haven't seen these particular seeds anywhere else. I emailed to find out the status a couple of days ago and no replay. I'm disappointed in the service.

I've ordered from Irish Eyes many times, and occasionally drive to their store half way across the state of Washington when I'm in Seattle. I am in Alaska and sometimes I have trouble with mail order companies thinking I am from a different country. Not so with these guys. A few years ago I even made arrangements to stop by on a Saturday and someone came in to see that I got my order. I've since tried to stay with their normal schedule. The seed potatoes have been really good and I've had success in growing them. I think the Garden City side is a little overpriced but usually find something I just have to have. I love their catalog with the great descriptions and growing hints. Still, they are one of the very, very few companies selling seed potatoes that has bothered getting approved to sell to Alaska. 99% of the companies listed in the database will not ship anything here. If you ever get near their farm/wharehouse, take some time to see the town, the other small shops in the area, and if you like antiques, spend several hours at the antique mall.

Irish Eyes with a Hint of Garlic, no comment on the name. All their activities can be traced back to Ronninger's Seed Potatoes. After the old man died, some of the heirs decided to abandon farming and sell out to a faction interested in upscale marketing, but who were low on farming skill. In the process, many excellent seed lines like Augsburg Gold failed or even were dropped because sales were slow. In reaction to what they obviously considered a betrayal of Grandpa Ronniger's life work, some of the younger generation restarted the original farm and are now trying very hard to reclaim the former acclaim, as it were. Irish Eyes with a hint of Garlic has let me down so many times that I will never order from them again. The seed potatoes were of extremely poor quality and diseased, delivery sometimes was delayed until mid May. Try Saukriver or the new Ronninger's for reliable service and excellent quality.

Editor's Note: Ronniger's Potatoes has resumed their seed potato business; Mr. Ronniger has not passed away. You'll find a separate listing for Ronniger's within the Garden Watchdog.

I just received my order of potatoes and was astonished to find that substitutions had been made for three of the five varieties I ordered. If I'd ordered from the catalog and ordered late I'd understand, but I ordered from the web page, which you think would be kept up to date with "out of stock" information. I'll make allowances for the perishability of potatoes and not complain about 1 substitution, or maybe even two, but 60% of the order?? If I had to replace that much of a customers' order, I'd contact the customer before shipping. That being said, I've ordered from them before and not had a problem, and the potatoes are in good condition.

Quick and efficient shipment of my order. The quality of their seeds are incredible! I ordered organic herb seed and was thrilled when well over 80% of the seed was successful. They also sent detailed directions on how to plant and grow potatoes. Very helpful for a first time potato grower!

Garden City Seeds has been absorbed by Irish Eyes with a Hint of Garlic, which had absorbed Ronniger's Seed Potatoes two years ago. They used to be called Greg Anthony's. I have loved both Ronniger's and Garden City for years, as they are local to me and have had good quality, service and selection. I've been watching these changes with trepidation. The potatoes that I ordered in 2000 were good quality, but arrived two weeks before I requested them. Not a big deal. This year, however, I noticed that they are reducing their seed selection from what Garden City carried. Fortunately, they do seem to be committed to continuing to carry the regional varieties that I rely on. BUT, they need to get their act together on shipping dates! I am a commercial grower, and expect my seed to arrive shortly after I order it. All the other companies I order from do this. Garden City/Irish Eyes did not ship my seed for over a month! I had to call them three times, and finally threaten them withorder cancelation.I will order from them again because they have varieties that no one else has, but I will make it abundantly clear that I need my seeds NOW!

Ronniger's potato seed company has changed. This year's catalog is headed: "Ronniger's Seed & Potato & Greg Anthonys Seed Co. present Irish Eyes with a Hint of Garlic." From the information the catalog, it appears that Ronniger is no longer connected with Ronniger's Seed & Potato. Greg Anthonys now runs it. Ronniger's has paid for an announcement in the 99-00 Irish Eyes catalog saying they are now embarking on the production of more than 50 varieties of heirloom, exotic and rare dry beans from the Southwest and Europe at their certified organic farm. Catalog available this year. No charge indicated for catalog.

This company is great! All the seeds were viable, special favorites were the old nicotiana and agastache. Also their seed potatoes are outstanding! My friends and neighbors were amazed at the flavor.

They specialize in organic heirloom variety seeds, as well as organic pest control and garden supplies. They also do their own trials for taste & hardiness in cold climates. The catalog has very specific (and helpful) growing instructions, including companion crop listings and pest control hints. I have been ordering from them for a few years, and have had very quick responses to my orders. I have not had any problems with their seeds, and the germination rate is great! They also sell seeds and live plants (in season) at the store. The catalog says to call for summer hours.
