I was so sad to see Remy has passed away and the website is now closed. My prayers are with her family. She left a legacy to the gardening community in unique seeds and personal attention to her customers.

I am so saddened by her loss. Such a lovely person - always wonderful communication and great germination. A true loss to the gardening community. Rest in peace.

They have such a nice variety of items that it was hard for me to limit myself, but I did not hear of this company until I had placed large orders elsewhere. The shipping was very prompt. I received a much appreciated bonus seed pack.

I have ordered from sample seed shop on several occasions now and have only rave reviews for this company. I am overdue in leaving a positive review - I should have done it sooner. I love the low prices and the seed quantities are generous in my experience given the price, and best of all I have had excellent success with plants I started and grown from sample seed shop. At this point I've ordered and grown out about 100 different items, mostly annual flowers (larkspur, cosmos, rudbeckia, tithonia, marigold etc), but also a lot of tomatoes and a handful of perennial, herbs, and vegetable seeds. (the heirloom tomato list is amazing!) The price can't be beaten for high quality seeds. There are many plants I would never have tried if I hadn't seen them at sample seed shop just because the price of seed packets is so low it makes ordering a lot of varieties do-able. My only complaint (not really a complaint - more of a wish) is that I wish they offered more of the newer hybrids in annuals and vegetables. If yes, this would be my go-to source for all seeds. Even as is, I always check sample seed shop before making a seed order elsewhere to make sure I can't find it at sample seed shop first.

Posted on March 10, 2019, updated March 10, 2019 So, I almost feel like I should start with an apology as I caused her to have to update her website (just a little bit), because while I'm not pathologically opposed to PayPal I don't have PayPal and am simply not inclined to get PayPal, but this site offered a way for me to order without using PayPal. A good old fashioned but slightly slower method using snail mail, which I admit I would've been leery of doing if she wasn't a Watchdog 30 company with a 100% positive. Anyway, turns out the mailing address previously (she's already updated it so don't worry) on the site was an old one, but she still got my order and got it to me several days before I planned to email and ask if she even received it. Sadly, the order was short two seed packets (one refunded and the other to be shipped soon), but I was honestly expecting that one because I had checked the website after sending my order and noticed that one was "out of stock" and I'm not bothered by it because if I had just got PayPal and used the faster order method I'm sure I'd have gotten some. To be honest some of the flower seeds I ordered I'm not sure I can get the seed started anyway (including the one that became out of stock but I was willing to give it the old college try). Veggie seeds I can do (well I've never had much luck with carrots, but everything else) and tomato and cucumber seeds especially as I can sometimes get old (real old) seeds from them to go, but sometimes I do have trouble with flower seeds, but in one case I had the plant before and loved it but as tends to happen after a few years I noticed bugs also loved it, but even then it still returned for a couple years then alas finally stopped returning and because it was really pretty I want it again, but I spent some time in 2018 off for surgery and can't exactly afford premium prices for plants this season and so when I stumbled across The Sample Seed Shop and saw she had seeds for this plant I knew I was ordering that (even if I can't get it from seeds I hope to at least have fun trying) along with some tomato and other flower seeds. Most of the other flower seeds I ordered I'm pretty sure I can start, because I've had the plants before (gotten as plants though not seeds) and most of them go crazy reseeding themselves. But as mentioned I can't exactly afford plants this season so I decided to start them from seeds because as they've just about always gone crazy in my beds/pots I figure they should be easy enough. Still I was also feeling brave when I made my order and ordered a few I don't know if I can start. So, positive for quick shipping despite my slow method of ordering and also for the little note enclosed hoping my surgery went well - and for the record it did and I am recovered, but as mentioned sometimes when I have to write alot my handwriting will get like a Doctors these days so I try to type when I can. Also positive for the bonus packets even though one of them is also one I'm not sure I'll be able to get started from seed but as mentioned above I hope to at least have fun trying and hopefully be delightfully surprised. So now with this posted I'm off to try to start the seeds. *grin*

I've been ordering seeds from Remy for years and it just occurred to me I have not written a review ! Remy's sampleseeds online shop is great ! There is a great selection of veggies and flowers to choose from at great prices ! I get great germination every year ! The customer service is the best, bonus seeds are always included and shipping is always fast ! Its better than Christmas when I see a package from Remy in my mailbox ;-)

Great prices, large variety of vegetable, flower, and herb seeds. I received my order quickly and started planting right away. Some I did as wintersown, (sown in jugs and basically stuck out in a snow bank to sprout when nature tells them to!) The less cold Hardy I did inside under lights as it's still too cold here or they are longer season than my actual short season lol. I must say I don't think I have ever gotten such a high germination rate on seeds from anywhere else! Even the wintersown ones have sprouted in jugs and gone through snow and freezes and are still going strong. I also like that the packages are more sized to home gardeners needs. I like to have a variety of plants rather than just one kind so I really don't need huge packages of seeds like tomatoes and peppers, that would be waste of seed and money. Thank you for offer me all these benefits, I have never been disappointed with any of my orders over the last few years, since I found your company. Wish I had found it sooner!!!

Great company! I had a hard time narrowing down what tomato seeds I wanted from so much variety. I had some concerns and I was answered promptly. Shipping was relatively quick. Germination was almost 100%. I loved the bonus seeds she included with my order. I look forward to purchasing more from this company.

This is the second year I have ordered with Remy. She is amazing! She's passionate, knowledgeable, and above all, HELPFUL. Last year I had to email her a few times to get some guidance as far as which tomatoes I wanted to grow and she got back to me promptly and with some great advice. I had an awesome harvest! I have shopped with The Sample Seed shop for many years. The germination rate of the seeds is amazing and the variety keeps me coming back every year.

I have ordered from this company for years, mostly tomato seeds. I like to try new varieties and they have a wonderful selection! My current favorite is “Piglet Willie’s French Black”. This year a packet of seeds was omitted in my order, something that has never happened in all the years I’ve been ordering from them. When I contacted them, I received a prompt reply, and follow-up emails to be sure I received the seeds. The seeds arrived with a tracking number to be certain that I received them. Good job!

This was my first year ordering from Remy. Her pricing is great and she shipped in a timely manner. It's June and I have healthy robust plants from the seed I'd ordered from her shop. I'll be ordering from her again in the future.

I love, love, love this seed store! The quality and germination of seeds is excellent and super fast shipping. What I especially love, though, is the thoughtfulness of Remy. From the free seeds to handwritten notes, it feels like I'm getting beloved seeds from a friend! One of my very favorite plants in my garden was a free pink maltese cross she sent me years ago.

I order quite a few flower, herb, and vegetable seeds. Everything was well packaged and I received the order very fast. A great place to order seeds.

It has to be one of the best deals in buying garden seeds on the internet. The packets are very inexpensive, excellent germination rate, a fast shipper, and the shipping rate is fair! The amount of seeds you get in a packet is hardly what I would call a "sample size", they are always the amount of seeds you find in a regular priced seed packet for more than half the price. The web site is pretty much no frills, the seeds come in a plain coin size labeled envelope with all contributes to Remy being able to her her costs way down, which is fine with me. I don't need to see a fancy seed website, fancy seed packets and pay a high price for that. Sample Seed Shop is ALWAYS my first stop every winter for vegetable and herb seeds that I plan on growing the next season. I wish I had the option for a "HIGH-FIVE" for The Sample Seed Shop, they are just awesome!

First time ordering from The Sample Seed Shop. Ordering was easy, and Remy was quick to respond to email. The website indicates a minimum of 15 seeds per pack, but every pack of seeds had at least twice that. The bonus pack that was included wasn't just an unpopular or poor seller, it was a somewhat rare and a very much in demand tomato. Will definitely order again. Thanks, Remy!

Ordered and rec'd the seeds in a matter of 3 days. 3 bonus packs even on my relatively small order. Generous amounts of seeds, very low cost. Wonderful as always.

This is one of my favorite sources for seeds. The seeds are always true to name and germinate well. My latest order was shipped quickly, and although it was a small order, Remy still included bonus seeds! I am never disappointed ordering at The Sample Seed Shop.

Great, quick service. Last year my Monkey Ass tomatoes did not do well, but I was not able to give them as much attention. I look forward to trying them again this year, along with some various types of greasy beans!

The website was easy to navigate, and had good information and photos on their plant descriptions. I found several tomatoes that I wanted to try. Once my order was placed, I received my confirmation and seeds very quickly. A good value for the # of seeds received, and shipping is very reasonable. A great first experience with this company.

This is by far my favorite place to order seeds from. With other seed catalogues, I tend to wait for a good sale before I order and then shipping seems to take forever. The Sample Seed Shop ALWAYS has great prices and fast shipping. I love the quality of the seeds and have never had a problem with germination. I received my most recent order in the mail yesterday (love the cheerfully decorated package) and started planting the new seeds right away. As usual, there was a generous amount of seeds in each seed packet. And the bonus pack went along great with the "theme" of the other seeds I ordered. It's a pleasure to order from this company and I have no doubt I'll continue to do so.

Posted on April 1, 2015, updated April 16, 2015 This was my first order with The Sample Seed Shop and I was already impressed with Remy before my order came. I went to her site based on reviews here. My seeds just came today so I can't say whether or not there are germination issues, but based on reviews, I am not expecting any and am planning my second order in another week or so. I placed my order when Remy was away for two weeks so I knew I would have to wait until she got back before it was shipped. She kept her website updated daily to post what date orders had been processed thru so you had an an idea of where you stood in the process. I had a question on my order and she responded immediately. I enjoyed reading the descriptions of the various plants she had - they had a personal, honest touch and aren't the usual scientific descriptions most places use. Although I did not order them, my favorite was the one that she was was very ugly but smelled great so stick them in the back. Doubt you would read that anyplace else!

Received my 2cd order placed with Remy last week. Everything went very smooth and was in order. Great company and great people. Thanks for the bonus packet too. I will be ordering again.

I ordered a good amount of seed from Remy the owner of this company and I could not be happier so far...The reason because I am very happy with this company are actually 4: 1. The shipping is fast (less than a week from order to arrive) 2. Remy is ultra nice trying to accommodate the need of her costumers (I am the living proof) 3. The prices are really affordable 4. She alway have a nice bonus seed pack! Soon I will update my experience about the quality of the seeds!!!

I ordered from this company early 2014, and could not have been more pleased with them. They give you a lot of high quality seed for a very good price. Customer service is excellent. When my order arrived I only had one packet of cilantro seed when I should have had three. This happened because out of all varieties I had ordered, cilantro was the only one I ordered more than one packet of. All I had to do was send an e-mail, and they quickly sent out the missing packets. I also appreciated the nice little extra touches, stamps on the seed packets, stickers on the package, a hand written address label, etc. I plan to order again for 2015

I ordered a bunch of seeds for winter sowing and wasvery pleased with selection and my experience once I ordered. Excellent communication.....they let me know when seeds were beingmailed out (I had seeds in apprx one week). I liked the 'personal touches' as well (hand stamped seed envelopes) and would rate my experience a '10' and order again. Looking forward to all my blooms next spring!

I was looking for a vining summer squash, and found The Sample Seed Shop through Google. I ordered, and have since planted the Tromboncino squash, as well as a new (for me) kind of bean, Tennessee Greasy Mix. All of the seeds arrived quickly and safely, even with a packet of Dinosaur Kale as a bonus. All seeds germinated with no problem at all, and are healthy and thriving in my garden. I am very happy with the quick and easy ordering and delivery. I have a small garden, and don't need 100 seeds at a time. Packets from Sample Seed Shop are small and very well priced. A great company that I'm pleased is located in NY! The Sample Seed Shop is going to be my new "go to" site for affordable, interesting, and some quite unusual perennial, annual, and vegetable seeds! nicely organized website, order was processed quickly, seeds are packaged nicely, very reasonably priced, great to be able to get small packs of lots of different kinds of seeds. This is a family operation and you can feel the personal touch in packing and shipping. I've planted most of my seeds, and all of them are sprouted and well on their way. Can't wait to get them in the ground!

I've ordered from this company two times, and have been impressed both times with the fast turnaround time (which is notable due to the winter weather that was happening at the time), the labeling and packaging of the seeds, as well as the emails the owner sent out due to abnormally severe winter weather hijinks keeping me informed. I have been using The Sample Seed shop for over a year now and have been thoroughly impressed by the quality of the seeds, the germination rates and the superb customer service. The seeds are sold in small 'sample' sizes that usually run you from $1-2. I have had very good luck regarding the seeds sprouting and reaching maturity. You also always receive a free sample of at random (?) when you order from them. I can't say enough about this place...it is awesome-possum.

I have ordered seeds from Remy 3 times now. The service is always great. Delivery is fast, even coming to Canada. I have had good luck with the seeds. Packages are small, price is great! I will continue ordering from Sample Seed Shop.
