We ordered about $20 worth of seeds from this company back in the spring. We didn't get them, so we emailed and called. We never got through to them with the calls. They either never answered and it rolled to a recording that said they number was not taking calls at that time or it was busy. We finally got an email response that was pretty nasty. They claimed that the order was shipped but they had no tracking information. We said that we wanted our money back. Another pretty nasty email stated that they were not responsible for the postal service. We never got the order or our money. I wish that we had read these reviews first. Apparently, this woman is a piece of work to deal with.

I have ordered lots seeds from Cherry Gal over the years. I've been a customer since way back in the early eBay days! I have NEVER had any issues with her. Communication has been excellent, seeds have grown just fine, I love the beautiful website and attention to such a complete story on each variety. I am sorry to see so much negative feedback here. I have never experienced any of this. I'll be placing an order again this year, as usual. :)

Posted on June 7, 2009, updated April 19, 2016 I've ordered from Cherry Gal numerous times. Her low prices and small packets make it possible for me to try out a lot of varieties. A few items I picked were backordered, but I received them before planting time with no problems. I have consistently had excellent germination, close to 100% for everything. Far fresher than many sources. Great selection of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. One of the only places to find savoy cabbage seed. The end of season 25 for $25 Sale is incredible! Will definitely continue to order from this company. I've always had exceptional service.

On April 19th, 2016, lzyjo changed the rating from positive to negative and added the following: I just wanted to add a more current comment about the service I received in the past. First, I cannot believe that this person is still in business. The experience that I'm sharing happened several years ago, but I don't think she's changed. I had been a loyal customer placing several orders a year. Then, I ordered asparagus seeds. I don't know whether growing asparagus from seed is a good idea, and I still don't know because I never received the seeds. About two weeks after placing the order, I emailed her asking whether they had shipped because I hadn't received a notification. Cherry Gal became extremely rude. I think I said something like, "Ok, I will leave an appropriate review for the service I received." She was ballastic the whole time, telling me I had "bad form." I can't believe I got my money back. Suffice it to say, I'm glad that I don't see her coin envelopes in my seed stash anymore. I guess everything is ok unless you have to deal with her.

Wow. Had I read the reviews first, I'd not have ordered from them at all!!! However, I'm glad I did and have made several satisfactory large seed purchases from them this year. I see most of the reviews are old, so maybe they've addressed some of the issues? My order was also all seeds and contained no live plants, so I can't comment there. Still, I feel I got an excellent value on some hard-to-find varieties with a good amount of seed per pack, especially for the corn and beans. The seeds I've grown out so far from Cherrygal germinated just fine with a couple of the beans being huge producers for me. The Peruvian Morado corn seed must have also been fresh because it germinated readily and I managed to get a crop in Ohio which is a feat for a long-season tropical strain. In fact, I was happy enough with the quantity and quality of what I got that my final order was their 50 packs for $50 special which allows you to mix and match the varieties you want which comes out to a substantial discount of $1 each. Of course I can't speak for others' experiences, but based on mine, I'll order from them again.

That'll teach me! Always look for reviews before buying from an unknown website!!! The seed portion of my purchase was fine. The order was accurate and very fast. I was pleased and pleased that they were holding the plant order until it was time to ship in my zone. The live plants...that was another story. They arrived in a plastic bag with 1 pot and 1 cut up cell pack thrown into a USPS Priority cube box. They were sopping wet and all busted up. I received the wrong plant and the other plants were near death with root rot the following day. I was told I would receive a credit for the plant sent in error but I was pretty much SOL out when I inquired about the item that drowned. Very disappointed. I won't be buying from there again.

I had seen the negative reviews but tried Cherry Gal anyway and am so glad I did! One type of corn grew shockingly large, 14 feet, 2 inches high, and another produced hugely, with five to nine ears coming from a single seed, and good eating, too. One hundred seeds of buckwheat produced ninety nine mature and producing plants. The pumpkins, a rare find in any search, produced a great supply of quality food. The beans produced far more than expected and we have been doing this a long time. All of our variety order did well and we are reordering again. Thank you again, Cherry Gal and we can hardly wait to plant again!

This will be my third year purchasing seeds from cherrygal.. After a very successful season I emailed cherrygal to let them know about my success. They responded with much gratitude. All of the seeds ordered were through the 50 dollar seed pack that offer leftover seeds for a decent price. No problems with shipping . Admittedly most of my seed packs were tomatoes and peppers.. All of the plants did extremely well and I didn't experience any of the seedlings to be weak or sluggish and I lost only one out of 30. The seedlings were beautiful dark green and stalky. The peppers grew well and the four of the 14 different varieties of tomatoes grew to well over 12ft. Scaling up over my 6ft fence and down into the nieghbors garden with lots of produce. I like them and recommend. Also good harvest of fava beans and peas.

I had placed an order in 2012 for some bean seeds, and it was delayed in shipping. When inquiring I got a very curt response. When I did receive them I experienced a high failure to germinate, and very abnormal seedlings with gnarled and malformed cotyledons, small and weak plants. The ones that did germinate failed to thrive. I chalked this up to some failure in my garden despite the purple pod beans from another source in the same garden bed doing well. So bring on order #2 (2013): When I could not find a good source for the specific butter bean I was looking for this year I risked this site again, hoping for better results. Out of the entire seed packet I planted (approx 50 seeds) I got 3 to sprout. They again, are abnormal, deformed cotyledons and in 2 weeks 2 of the 3 died and the last has not grown at all. For the price I paid with shipping, I am extremely disappointed. I have not pursued a refund with the seller because I will not shop there again nor recommend the site.

I was nervous about my order after reading reviews here but I'm happy with my transaction. I had a short backorder on one pepper variety that she informed me of and kept me updated on. I can't comment on germination rates yet, but she was quick to keep me updated on my order status. I think the lower seed counts accompanied by lower prices is a great idea on certain types of plants (like peppers) were you don't really need 35 of the same plant in a home size garden.

Posted on April 11, 2012, updated December 17, 2012 Well, I have just ordered about 14 packets of seeds. I am now a little nervous after reading the over whelming amount of negative comments. To reply to a few, the complaint that you didn't receive "enough" seeds, really is silly, as the website upon every single vegetable description clearly states that the way she keeps down her prices is by not giving you and overwhelming amount of seed that you'll never use, but by giving packets of 15-25. I liked this as I've always hated spending 3-4 dollars a packet just to plant 5-10 plants or less of a particular variety. Keeping her seeds down to 1.50 was amazing. The website was designed so lovely that I figured this would be a quality service. She wrote so eloquently in her love of particular plants that I really felt this is some one who really goes out of her way to provide excellent customer service.. I was a little alarmed however on a few emails. I accidentally ordered a first order of seeds through my PayPal account, without realizing that I had forgotten to update the Address. I immediately emailed her to ask if she could take note of the change of address before the seeds go out (The same day of the order), and her response was very choppy. "No we can not. The address from your paypal account will be used.". End of email. I immediately took that as, well, are you going to keep my money? But without even telling me, she DID refund my money. So, I ordered again a few days later since she was unwilling to just take note of the correct address. I figured if she was running such a small business this wouldn't be so difficult. A little frustrating as I had forgotten everything I ordered and spent another hour or two trying to figure it all out... Any way, it is going on day seven now since my order and I am really hoping I do not run into the same shipping problem it seems 14 other people have. A little nervous... I will post later with an update on the success of sprouting and how the plants are doing.

On December 17th, 2012, RiverHendrix changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following: I initially put a Neutral on this company. My final conclusion is this: The website states that all seeds are fresh and new every year. I think this one woman act hangs onto seeds for years and years at a time, and advertises otherwise. I have bought two-three orders from her in the last year. I have germination problems with every last one of the packets I purchased. Where seeds will germinate well from other companies, it seems like CherryGal seeds are always troublesome. If they DO germinate at all, the plant seems to be weak and unable to survive. Most of her seedlings died out as well. I admire her beautifully designed website and her passion for beautiful things, the wealth of information she provides on her website, and so on. But I just cannot purchase from her any more. The money I have wasted is immense. In today's economy, I just can't afford to lose every dollar I spent on a crappy pack of seeds. Don't buy from her. You'll regret it. Stick with companies like Sustainable Seed Company who don't lie to their customers and cheat them out of viable and healthy seeds.

I was not pleased with the customer service. I will say that their policy states that you must send via post office money order. I tried to pay with a regular money order. I did read their policy wrong, but I fail to see what was wrong with a regular money order, purchased from Wal-Mart. I e-mailed my dissatisfaction with their policy on money orders (total order was just over $10) and I received several nasty e-mails back. My money wasn't good enough for this company, so I took my good money to three other seed companies. I told them that and they told me that my money would never be good with them. If you have good germination rates and have had good customer service with this company, then that's great. Just stating my opinon; I was not very pleased with this company's overall customer service.

I always end up ordering something from "CherryGal" every year (for spring and/or fall). My orders are typically >$100. She has always been good, with the exception of one time she forgot to fill my order and I had to call about it. That was because I had placed to big orders & she didn't think the second order was intentional. She has also called me to ask what I wanted to do re: an item that she ran out of. I've always had good goings. I've even called her with questions & she is very helpful.

I have used cherry gal three years in a row now and have always been satisfied with the company. I haven't had a single seed fail as a matter of fact i had some seeds left over from last years order and wanted to see if they were still viable. A couple of habanero seeds that i intend to grow as bonsai, a few tomatoes, and some others. i used peat pots as usual and they all sprouted for me. I placed my 2012 order last night totaling $96.69. Thats alot of money for a mother who works in fast food, but i got overtime for working christmas day (plants are my meditation so-to-speak) and have never had any problems with this company. the first year i spent only $19.90 and had the seeds within the next week, next was $30 even. this year i have a yard. now i don't have to plant in containers lol. So i cannot wait to start planting the seeds from cherry gal, the best part of the company is that the packaging is very "landfill friendly" small envelopes with the seeds safely inside, and clearly labled on the front. i'de list the plants chosen for this year but there are 59 of them this time lol. tomatoes, peppers, herbs, flowers, pumpkins, and melons are about the jist of it.... choose chery gal, you won't be disappionted.

I decided to order from this company as an experiment. I had read some of the negative comments, but still wanted to try several different kinds of (mostly vegetables) plants without having to buy large quantities of seed that I might not like. Since this is one of the few places you can do that, I decided to take a risk. I ordered late last season when there was a special on last years seeds and received about 50 varieties. I haven't planted them all yet, but out of the nine varieties of tomatoes, seven were 100% germination, one was 60% and one was 20%. Of the peppers, three varieties were 100% and one was 80%. I usually order through Parks, and I've had about 95% germination with their tomato and pepper seeds over the last four years, so I feel like this was pretty good, except for that one tomato variety. (and, yes, I do think the problem was the seed, since I grew those in the same medium and same way as the others.) Her other seeds that I've tried have done fine, except for one, and as it is something I've never grown before, I can't say that I didn't do something wrong. The one complaint that I do have is that while there is a lot of "fun" information on the site, there is often no real planting information. Things like planting dates, zone information, seed depth, size of plant, and spacing often aren't addressed in the descriptions and there is no information on the seed packets. Also, if a variety sells out, it is taken off the site, then I couldn't find a way to get to any information for that variety. So perhaps this isn't the site to get your regular seeds, but it is a wonderful opportunity if you wish to experiment with lots of varieties of plants. I will definitely try them again, but I will order very very early!

I had been looking for some heirloom chia seeds, and found some on CherryGals website. I wanted to make certain they were good seeds, and in my mind knowing where my seeds come from are just as important as where my food comes from. I decided to call the company to find out where the seeds (specifically the chia seeds, as I was interested in purchasing just those) were from. I asked the nice representative, who I assume may have been the owner, and she sounded taken aback. I clarified my question, stating I was curious as to the physical, or geographical origin of the chia seeds, but she stated that someone had tried to recreate her website and that she didn't want to tell me her sources. I understood, but as a company, I feel they should understand customers want to know where THEIR sources are coming from. Too bad, I really wanted the seeds, but not if I don't know where they come from. I am really trying to only buy seeds from the US, but not knowing, sadly I cannot allow myself to buy them.

My experience with Cherry Gal is no different than all the others that left negative comments. I ordered on Feb 23rd and just now recieved my seeds, March 31st after numerous phone calls and promises that my order would be priority. I understand that they are a small company, but then be honest enough to let people know, "hey, we are small so we are slow", I could understand that, but don't mislead people to think that you will be fast and efficient. I garden up north so it is important that I recieve my seeds when they are estimated to arrive so that they can get started early enough. When I opened my seeds I noticed how few there were. I will only order my herb seeds through Horizon Herbs from now on, they have fast shipping, great seeds, awesome germination rate and higher quantity for your dollar. I ordered one type of veggi seed, but those too I would make a different choice and order through either Heirloom Acres Seeds or Baker Creek, for the value and quality. I'm all for small business, but small businesses that are honest and up front with their customers.

I ordered from CherryGal in 2010. I do not think their seeds are as viable and healthy as other companies seeds. I ordered from 16 seed companies last year and Cherry Gal was one company I would not recommend. All the other companies were fine. From CherryGal I ordered one flower seed packet and three vegetable varieties. My flower seeds came up, but died as seedlings. I could have done something to kill the seeds, but I doubt it. Two other vegetable varieties came up, but did not do as well as they should. May dad grew up on a farm and worked in the fields, he saw how I cared for the seeds and he kept saying it was my seeds, that they were bad. I didn't want to believe it, but I think they did have poor germination. I experimented using an inoculate and not using one and still my peas did not come up like they should have. I gave a pepper plant I started from CherryGal seeds to my brother and I saw it at the end of the season it looked pitiful. The thing was lanky and so spindley. He did get 2 or 3 peppers off it the size of a small tangerine. I knew then something was wrong. He fertilized and watered his garden well. He had a bumper crop of tomatoes, but the pepper was pitiful. My pepper plant didn't produce a single pepper. It died before it even produced one. My other vegetable did okay. I did email a question and got a response, but I didn't feel comfortable emailing her any more. I felt as if I were bothering her, though she clearly states to email if you have any questions. I try very hard to figure out what I need to know by the internet or asking other farmers and gardeners. I know people are busy, but out of the 4 or 5 companies I have ever emailed a question to none made me feel like an inconvenience or I was bothering them.

I ordered seeds on Feb 27 and only found out when I inquired 2 weeks later that my order had been misplaced. By email I was informed that the order was going out immediately. I requested express delivery and got no response. I left a voice mail and got no response. The web site showed shipment date of March 14 but when I got through to them today, I learned it was 17th actually (and no express of course). But worse than that, person hung up on me after saying they were a small company and she had a medical crisis last week. Well I am sympathetic to medical crises as a recent cancer survivor myself but if you run a business you do not hang up on clients. Very unprofessional especially for a time sensitive industry.

I'm sorry I have to leave a negative for this one. I ordered before and got my seeds within two weeks but that was at the end of the season. This time i ordered Feb. 10th. I made sure every seed ordered said "ships now" in the seed choice menu before selecting the seed. Feb. 20th no seeds. March 1st no seeds so I contacted cherrygal by email. I was sent a message copied from her website stating something about my order being processed and would be shipped March 1st. Now I am worried I have already missed indoor planting time. March 4th still no seeds, I looked at the website and found the shipping information. They had just been shipped March 4th. Very upset about being lied to. Purchased seeds local and planted out what I could. Today is March 10th and the seeds did arrive today. Unless it is at the end of the season I do not recommend purchasing due to being very slow on shipping.

Terrible, terrible, terrible customer service!!!!!!!!! I ordered seeds from them, and I received and email asking me to review them. I have ordered from both bakercreek and them. Bakercreek was super duper fast. Cherry gal wasn't quite as quick so I gave them 3/5 stars...average. I then received a nasty email saying how wrong I was!! I am still shocked that a company ir any business would actually send such an email for my opinion... Actual email- "I really feel that feedback was unfair and unwarranted. You were shippedwithin the timeframe we advertise on the site. No, we are not as fast as Baker Creek, although I have een kept waiting longer by major companies. I suppose we could add staff and triple our prices like they do. Do you have any idea how injurious such feedback is to business? Way out of proportion to whatever minor inconvenience you experienced – and unwarranted because our site clearly states within 7 business days – which your order was shipped in less than!" I didn't even care that much about the wait (only about two weeks) which is good, I could not believe how unprofessional this company was. Beware giving them an average review, you may get something nasty in return. I will never ever order from them again.

Here is the email the customer received which they thought to be so nasty: "You ordered on January 11 and shipped on January 18, confirmation sent January 19. My site promises shipping within 7 business days. You were shipped within 5 business days." It seems that when a customer like this gets a bee i their bonnet there is little that can be said that will not be construed as nasty. We have maintained a pretty good shipping schedule this year despite extreme weather that prevented limited staff from getting in for a couple of days and a major fire that necessitated an evacuation of our area for 2 days. We can't be responsible for shipping time frames once an item leaves CherryGal, and those may be slowed with the extraordinary weather of late across most of the country. We are not Baker Creek, that is true. I admire Baker Creek, but I would have to raise my prices to their levels to increase staffing and prefer instead to offer excellent small packets of a wide range of seeds for very low prices. We don't advertise or put out fancy catalogues (or any catalogues). In exchange, we have lower overhead, including smaller staff, so shipping takes a little longer when it is the peak of the season, which it is now. If that is not acceptable then please do not buy from us. Gardening should be a relaxing pleasure. We do not want customers who get so exercised over their experience with us that they feel it necessary to exact revenge via googlebomb sites such as this. We want happy customers and work hard to keep them.

I ordered a packet of velvet red tomato seeds from this site because they had the best deal than other sites that had them available. I got the seeds a few weeks later, but was warned it could be while since it was the busy season. I received an email when the seeds were shipped and a confirmation number to track the order. The seeds arrived packaged well and I had a couple more seeds than what the packet numbered. I planted a few seeds already and all have sprouted and I can already see the silvery hairs on the first true leaves leading me to believe this is the correct variety. Overall poor experience with this company. The shipping time was fine and I received the items within 3 weeks of ordering. The negative feedback is for the very poor germination rates on the seeds I received. Some seeds germinated OK, but overall most didn't germinate at all. Crisp Mint lettuce about 40% germination but the MERVEILLE DES QUATRE SAISONS LETTUCE I ordered out of 50 seeds 1 germinated. Also very poor rates on many of the herbs I purchased. None of my Anise, Allheal, St. Johns Wort, Hyssop, Feverfew, or Mugwort germinated at all. Of the 50 Chamomile seeds I started only 2 germinated. Granted the packets were $1.25 each but I still paid for something and didn't receive a reliable product.

Posted on May 13, 2010, updated May 14, 2010 Posted on May 13, 2010, updated May 13, 2010 after nearly a month after ordering SEEDS only, I received a generic email saying that my order had been shipped. That was May 3rd, and I ordered on 4/11/2010. When I inquired as to the delay, they gave me the same shpeal everyone has gotten about being so overwhelmed by orders. When I further inquired about the time delay, I started receiving combative and unsigned emails. When I inquired as to who was sending those emails, I got NO correspondence at all. Today, 5/13, I opened a dispute on paypal. STRONGLY recommend you avoid this company, as the cheap price is not worth the wait and nasty remarks. I will give them plenty of free advertising accordingly.

On May 13th, 2010, veggie93 added the following: 5/13/2010 - they are now responding to paypal, when I was unable to get a response acknowledging my queries as to who was sending emails to me. Their repeated mantra, regarding the disclaimer about their "busy season" etc. is a blatant lie. There is nothing on their home page or any other page that I saw while ordering. Period.
On May 14th, 2010, veggie93 added the following: My seeds came in the mail today, May 14th. Paypal would not escalate my dispute because of the fact that the company could prove they mailed the package. My first thought was to refuse it, but since I paid with a direct bank withdrawal, I decided that as irresponsible as this company is, they would never refund my money. Then I'd be out the seeds AND the money. My suggestion to anyone contemplating doing business with this "company", is to pay with a credit card, so you'll be able to protest the charges with your bank AND paypal. But of course the better choice is to take your hard earned dollars elsewhere.

Every page of our seed listings as well as the shipping info section contain the following statement:"During peak seed season (January - June) this timeframe can stretch to a week or more because of heavy volume of sales. I do the best I can and fulfill orders in the order received." Only on the internet can a competitor or anyone so easily ruin a good company's reputation for the low price of $1.25. There is no way to determine if the complaint is from an actual customer, or perhaps a competitor. But it is not really fair to compare a small specialized seed house like CherryGal to Burpee's. We do not have the resources or staff they do. But we do offer very high quality rare heirloom seeds for an unbeatable price. If you want faster service you should go to Burpees - or better yet, walk into a Walmarts. But don't buy from me when I plainly warn the customer about shipping timeframe during peak months and then complain about it publicly. Really bad form. I think dissing/defamation sites like this are less a legitimate service to gardeners than a way for the site to make money off ads. A pox on Dave's Garden.

Seeds that I have saved from the last year were planted alongside cherrygal.com's and they sprouted just fine. I lost money and valuable time dealing with this company. I asked for a refund or the resending of non-expired seeds. The owner refused to do that. I hope my story will be a warning for other potential customers.

This is the second year I have ordered from this company. They always send me an email when they are about to ship my order. They are very quick at getting your order to you. Cherygal has a great selection of seeds and information on how to grow. Everything I bought from them last year grew just fine. This year I bought some Anaheim chile pepper seeds and sowed them 3 days ago. One of them is already sprouting! I will definitely order from them again.

Last year I ordered some seeds from them. They certainly have interesting choices. However, many of the seeds I got didn't germinate, and also in some cases the number of seeds was in my opinion too small. For instance, I think they sent me 25 radish seeds. I guess it was my mistake not to compare the quantity, but take my word for it, 25 radish seeds is quite a small number!

Of 25 Chervil seeds I bought, not one proved viable after three separate plantings. I then bought 750 seeds of Chervil from Burpee for $1.25. They're sprouting just fine. I think that Cherrygal doesn't store their seeds properly.

I have purchased seeds from Cherry Gal a few times. This week I ordered some more, and they arrived within the week! The quantities of seed are small, but she has some nice varieties. The service is fast and the website is friendly and filled with useful information. I have always had pretty good germination from Cherry Gal Seeds. I would surely buy more seeds from her again.

Posted on May 20, 2009, updated December 26, 2009 Deborah filled my order in a timely fashion, notified me that she had the order and then notified me when the seeds shipped. I find no fault in this transaction. I will be dealing with her in the future!

On December 27th, 2009, yukons_mom added the following: Thank you for another great order! I love wandering through pages of heirloom seed and deciding what I will be growing this year. I was totally pleased with the results last year and I am sure I will be pleased with the results this year. Thank you and keep up good work!

The bearded irises I bought from Cherrygal have had their second glorious growing season. The price was fair and I received my package quickly. I was happy with my Cherrygal experience and will use this company again.

I've ordered from Cherry Gal many many times. Her regular prices are completely affordable and make it much easier to purchase more varieties. (not to mention the terrific sale prices). The shipments are always quick and in time for the appropriate planting seasons. The service is exceptional; answers to questions are always prompt and very informative. I have always had excellent germination for everything. Will definitely continue to order from this company and recommend it to my family and friends!!

I love the small seed amounts and low price tags because I can order a HUGE variety of rare heirlooms for a third or less what I'd have to pay on some of these other sites. CherryGal has incredibly informative listings on her website and she also takes extraordinary time to answer emailed questions. The response time to my order was excellent 3 out of 4 times. The fourth time was understandable and forgiveable -- it was at the height of the seed season this year when most of my seed orders from other companies were similarly delayed due to high volume. CherryGal explained that as a small family owned business sudden surges in the marketplace such as what occurred when Michelle Obama put in the White House garden cause a delay in fulfillment. But given what you get for your buck -- extraordinary! I am a market grower and I also appreciate the HIGH GERMINATION RATES of CherryGal's seeds. I note the comments from others that are negative or neutral and also note that in each instance I believe those individuals (certainly true of FarmerDill) are COMPETITORS. These dissing forums are fun aren't they? And cause incredible harm to the small business person who is honorable and just trying to provide a good service at a good price. Anyone can sign up with multiple personalities and diss a competitor free of charge with no legal ramifications because the courts have said forums like this are off limits to lawsuits. Shame on you folks!

I ordered six packets of various herbs and a pack of 10 tomato seeds. My seeds did not grow (2 tomato plants, very sparse to nonexistent on others). I thought the company would like to know but they were unreceptive to my comments. I did not like the seed packets (small envelopes with gluey flaps) as the seeds were all stuck to the glue and the stickers came off. Cherry Gal does not offer you a refund on seeds, which I already knew. Also, as a customer in good faith, I felt they should at least replace 1 of my order, but when I suggested it I was told I was just asking for a freebie. I will never order from her again. If other customers received seeds that did not grow, I hope they post a comment because I don't understand as Cherry Gal said that complaints like mine are few and far between and basically she implied it was my fault they did not grow. Also, during our email exchange, I felt that she was rude. I do not have much money and ordering those seeds was a luxury for me - when they did not grow, I was very disappointed.

It is amazing to me that a customer who claims poor germination would want additional seeds of the same type. If the seeds are so bad, why do you want more for free? My return policy is clearly stated in each listing. I am not Burpees or one of the other huge companies that might be able to resupply customers based solely on their claim. All my seeds are germination tested by my suppliers and myself and I am quite confident of their viability. There are many many reasons why seeds do not germinate. It is almost always NOT a problem with the seed.

I ordered 21 packets of seeds, mostly varieties I have not grown before. The order time was acceptable, my email asking about the shipping date was answered quickly. I started the tomatoes, peppers and eggplants along with seeds from other companies. Most everything germinated well. The tomatoes had almost a 96% germination rate. There were three exceptions out of a total of 30 varieties. All three of those, two eggplants and one pepper, came from this company. I tried those three varieties again, three seeds each. Again, nothing. Once more, three seeds each. Again, not one single seed came up. When I notified the company and asked for replacements of those three packets, the answer was, in my opinion, rude. The company does not send replacements. The implication is that I did something wrong. Maybe once, but not three times. I was happy with this company until they refused to stand behind the product they sold. It is not the under four dollar price tag. It was the wasted time and passing of the buck attitude that soured everything.

On September 8th, 2009, farmer_doll9845 added the following: The tone and attitude of the answer to my posting is the same attitude present in the email answers sent when I notified the company of the germination problem, just rude and hostile. I am not connected with any seed company. I am a fifth generation WNC tobacco farmer trying to transition into a market growing operation. I ordered a bunch of seeds in varieties that sounded interesting to potentially replace some of the hybrids I already use. I used heating mats, sterilized soil mixes and grow lights. I have started many, many seeds from many companies over the years. When I try several times in succession to start the same variety, it is unlikely that the only problem is me, especially when all the other seeds sprouted. And as for asking for replacement seeds, I requested a refund or replacements. I realize that all seed lots are not created equal. When one lot is not as good, often another lot may be. I almost changed the rating from neutral to negative, but most of what was shipped was good. My problem was limited to three packets out of 21. The big problem was, and still is, the attitude. It is visible here from the company itself.

I really like the idea of this company--she sells all sorts of interesting seeds for extremely cheap. In some cases you don't get too many (10 seeds of Baby Blue Jade Corn don't go too far) but in many cases that really doesn't matter (presumably 25 broccoli seeds is enough for most people). However you know exactly what you are getting, and if you like it you can of course save some seeds or buy them in larger quantities from another company. The success of this of course boils down to how good her seed suppliers are. I've ordered a very diverse set of seeds and got excellent germination with all of them. The first time I ordered (in December) communication was great. The order was delayed for nine days because one of the seeds hadn't come in yet (this was mentioned in the catalog) and I received the seeds as expected. The second time, a couple weeks ago, my seeds were shipped about 10 days after I ordered them. I was notified when they were being sent, which is a plus. This wasn't a terribly long wait for seeds, but I would have appreciated being notified of this. It was only a minor annoyance, and I'll attribute it to the busy time of the year and I'll assume (and hope) that business is booming and she was a bit overwhelmed. Small amounts of interesting seeds for very cheap is a really cool idea. I hope the company does well and is able to expand their already large selection even more. I will definitely be ordering from them again and I encourage others to check them out.

Thank you for your positive comments. Yes, we had quite a time of it this past spring - I believe the combination of concern over the economy and Mrs. Obama's White House garden provided a perfect storm of new gardeners. I spoke with many other small companies and they too were a bit overwhelmed. We have been shipping within 1-3 days since June and are gearing up for heavy sales in the 2010 season so we can respond quickly and efficiently should volume peak again, so hopefully no one will be frustrated by delays in the future. :o)

8 days after placing my order with no information on shipping, I emailed Cherry Gal to inquire about the order. The email response was as follows: "We've been swamped with orders slowing down our normal fast response." When I learned that the seeds had not shipped, I requested a refund. 10 minutes later, I got an email stating that my seeds had (coincidentally) just shipped and that it was now too late for a refund. Not a good experience.

We did have a period at the height of the seed season this year when orders were coming in at a far greater pace then we could ship out. We were working 20 hours a day to fulfill and tried to respond to any inquiries asap. So you inquired, we pulled your order out of the line and fulfilled and sent you a notice immediately. And for that I get a negative? Go figure.

I placed an order for 3 packs of seeds. I couldn't even find my order on their website and when I inquired about the whereabouts of the order that I placed and paid for, this is the response I received: "Oh for heaven's - we are a legitimate business - your seeds were scheduled to ship today but I have decided to refund you instead. April is usually a very busy month with last minute gardeners and we are experiencing a week to ten days time lag in shipping orders. But since you seem so frantic over your order, I'm sure you can find something locally - maybe at Walmart." They CANCELLED MY ORDER! Lousy customer service...don't order from them!

Yes, this one was probably deserved. This customer was unbelievable rude, and frankly we were at a breaking point this past spring dealing with an unexpected and unusually high volume of sales. We simply weren't equipped. We were spending 20 hours a day filling orders and when this customer behaved so badly I lost my temper - a VERY rare occurrence for me. But the essence of the comment is genuinely felt. Why do customers seek out small companies that supply rare seed varieties such as CherryGal, purchase 3 packs of seeds that could easily be purchased at their local grocery store (not all my seeds are rare) and then make such a tremendous fuss? I am skeptical about the actual motivations behind such complaints. I have found at least one such instance to be an actual competitor simply making mischief and that makes me feel really sad for the state of the rare seed business that competitors would go to such lengths. I hate these forums. In the brick and mortar world such customers would never have an opportunity to wreak such financial havoc on a company over $3.75 worth of seeds! And by the way, we have solved the fulfillment lag problem.

Cherrygal has a wonderful selection of heirloom flower and vegetable seeds. The seed packets are smaller and less expensive, thus allowing you to try many varieties at a reasonable cost. Communication was excellent, and they responded promptly and courteously to a question I had regarding shipping. Seeds were well packaged, although you must get planting information from their website (not included on seed packet). I would not hesitate to purchase from this company again.

Thanks so much for posting a positive review of CherryGal.com. It's true we don't have fancy packages -- if we did we would have to charge more for the seeds. What we do offer are fresh seeds with high germination rates, rare heirloom and vintage varieties that are often hard to find, at a price that will allow you to try many different varieties. Most seed packets from other companies have much more seed than you can possibly use in a season - does the average home gardener grow 100 cabbages in a season? No. That's why we size our packets accordingly, and also why are seeds are so fresh. We sell out every year. Currently running our 50/50 sale to clear out this year's inventory so come on by!
