Abundant Acres

Posted on March 22, 2013, updated March 22, 2013 Both the number on here and the one on their website is disconnected. They are NOT affilliated with Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. I called Baker Creek hoping for a valid contact number - the lady I spoke to said that they are NOT affilliated. The email addresses for abundant acres both pop back as domain failures. I already tried to contact Dave's Garden through the link to tell them the phone number was disconnected and that they are NOT affilliated with Baker Creek. It saddens me, because I really wanted to order from them, but I do NOT want people having the frustration of ordering from them with a credit card to a company that obviously does NOT exist anymore. Then, I spoke to a man from a seed company recommended on the abundant acres website who claims that it is legit and run out of Comstock Ferre. I have not been able to confirm this claim as Baker Creek was closed due to inclement weather today. Either way, it is all way too hinky!! If you run a company, have at the very least one form of valid contact through your webpage.

After a fruitless attempt to order sweet potato slips from another vendor, I had the luck to stumble upon the Abundant Acres website. During the winter i ordered 6 different varieties of sweet potato slips since I read they sell out quickly. I actually paid too much in shipping, and the vendor promptly issues me a partial refund for the shipping, that was very classy. After 2 months passed, the date for shipping had finally arrived. However Abundant Acres had contacted me to let me know that a few of the varieties i selected were not available. They discussed with me how some of their tubers did not vine out the way they were hoping, so they did not have the slips to sell. They offered me replacement varieties or a refund. Considering the excellent communication they afforded me, i decided to go with replacement varieties. The slips were securely packed, and arrived both quickly and safely. Two of the varieties, twelve slips in total, did not look all that great. They were quite wilted and did not seem like they took to the shipping. I contacted Abundant Acres and they were very understanding and sent replacements. The replacement plans were absolutely fantastic. Everything is growing well in my garden and I cannot wait for what I hope will be a bountiful harvest. Abundant Acres was an excellent company to work with, and I would not hesitate to order from them next year.

I have ordered from Abundant Acres for the first time this spring. I ordered tomato, pepper and comfrey plants. The plants arrived in a very good condition and are thriving in my garden. One of the shipments ran into a problem with the postal service, who delivered it in 6 days instead of 2, but most of the plants survived. A few that did not were replaced by Abundant Acres. I was really impressed with the plant selection, as well as communication. I would definitely recommend Abundant Acres to anyone who needs quality plants.

I ordered from this company last spring and am doing so again as soon as the sweet potatoes become purchasable. Last year the plants came in absolutely wonderful condition; very well packaged. They have such a cool selection of seedlings and it's such a lifesaver to have someone else get my tomatoes and peppers going for me (i only have so much sprouting room in the house LOL). I live in TX, so the plants need a bit of adjusting to my climate, but they send very specific instructions that even a novice cannot mess up. I had a TON of peppers and tomatoes last year and I'm looking forward to more! Great company, good service and very reasonable prices. Definitely recommend to anyone!

Two of my plants appeared very wilted when I received them, but, since it's late in the season, and getting warmer, that may be the reason why, so it's not a deal-breaker. What does concern me is their substitution policy: yes, I knew, from the terms posted on their website that I could expect "similar substitutions" [which is what I specified in my order, anyway], but, IMHO, a 63-day, early season, red ruffled tomato, of a well-known variety, is not very much like an "Abundant Acres Introduction" 85-day, late season, oxheart. Depending on what I hear back, I probably will order again, but I will do it much earlier in the season, and I will very carefully specify what substitutes I find acceptable.

This is my second year to order from this company. They carry a variety of heirloom and hard-to-find vegetables and herbs. My orders have included tomatoes, sweet peppers and herbs. The plants are well packaged for shipping and have thrived in my garden. The communications from and with this company are timely. The owners are interested in having satisfied customers. I look forward to doing future business with this company.

I'm tickled with this company and will have no hesitation in ordering from them again. First of all they have an extensive list of not only heirloom seeds but plants/seedlings as well. I ordered their seedlings. Well I must admit they were late but they had e-mailed me and let me know that they were going to be late because of the wheather. They then sent another E-mail on the day they were sent. When they came and I opened the boxes, well... To say the least I was over whelmed. The packaging was a thing of beauty. Each plant was in its own little pot, The pot and plant were wrapped in a cardboard sleeve. All of the sleeves were tightly taped together and wedged perfectly in the box so there was no shifting and then covered with cushioning. On each sleeve was taped a good, ledgible, large plant marker to use in the garden. Once I'd gotten the sleeves off they had covered the soil in the pot so not a crumb had fallen out. The plants themselves were perky little things with not one broken or wilted leaf that were screaming to get in the soil and get growing. When I pulled the out of the pots, oh the roots, the roots! Not one was brown or bound. They also included well written ledgible instructions for planting as well as a detailed invoice. Again I am well pleased and they are on my permanent supplier list.
