Have ordered on and off for close to 20 years. Have yet to be disappointed. Bulbs are always large, firm and well packed. One variety not received as they indicated crop failure during their growing season. Not their fault and this will probably be a problem for many growers in future years. Will continue using B&D as a source as long as I'm still able to dig planting holes.

What a wonderful company. Fantastic to see a North American based bulb company that sells to the public. Great quality bulbs that will flower heavily the first year and continue to grow and perform. The cost is more than other "Dutch" type sellers/importers...but the difference in bulb size/quality more than make up for the difference. Easy ordering experience, online.

Been ordering from them for years. Here's the scoop: Positives: Great selection Good sized bulbs Negatives: Shipping charges are a profit center for them Don't let them substitute - you will be disappointed Bonus bulbs don't always come.

I have ordered from B&D for several years now and have always been pleased with the health of their bulbs and the variety of lilies they offer. My most recent shipment contained some enormous firm bulbs for almost all the lilies I ordered, plus a free bulb that was hefty and healthy itself. Thank you again for next years's beauties!

Compliments in droves!!! This year everyone who walks by my corner lot stops to see what is blooming today. I've been buying lilies from B & D lilies for years and I've always been impressed with the quality of the bulbs. They always made sure that for fall shipments that I've gotten them in plenty of time to get them in the ground before the first snow flies. For the first time I ordered a shipment for the spring and already they are the talk of the street. I contacted Dianna about a few trumpets that didn't come up this spring. The bulbs are healthy below the ground and she assured me that they were just getting settled in. I won't see flowers from them this year, but next year they should be amazing. I know that it will be worth the wait.

Several years ago I had gotten some free Asiatic lilies from one of the big bulb companies and I've been enjoying them ever since. Last year I decided I'd like to get some more lilies but wanted to get them from a reputable lily source. I found this company via a Google search. They have quite the selection and definitely seem knowledgeable about their product. This was just from checking out their website. I placed an order for a few varieties but thought the bulbs were very expensive at 5-8 bucks each. I also got some bulbs from Van Engelen last year. When the bulbs from both companies arrived it was immediately apparent why the B&D Lily bulbs were 5-8 bucks each. They were at least double the size of the Van Engelen lily bulbs. Now that they are all blooming, I can say the B&D lilies have bloomed as if they'd been in our garden for a couple years. The Van Engelen's, not so much. I'm so pleased with these lilies that I'm going to order more for this fall. What a great resource for beautiful lilies!

Posted on April 14, 2015, updated April 14, 2015 Posted on July 5, 2013, updated April 14, 2015 B&D Lilys is one very very good company to order lily bulbs. I have ordered three different times in the past year and a half each and every time they have sent bulbs when or near when i asked for them to arrive. If they were unable to send a certain lily i ordered do to sprouting or other issues that happen in the lily world they have always sent better and more costly bulbs much to my surprise and delight. They are very easy to corrasponde with through email and Bob is very helpfull with any questions.Another great company to order from.Bulbs are large, healthy and always come up.

Also they did NOT ship at the normal time but waited for the weather to get better. I will definitely do more business with this company and recommend them to others.

I ordered from B & D because they were recommended by the Renegade Gardener.com site. I am so glad I did! I'm very impressed with the blooms, one of the lilies that I just HAD to bring into the house had 6 blooms on 1 stem! Beautiful! I have no choice but to go to their site and order more bulbs :)

Posted on May 24, 2013, updated April 18, 2014 Posted on December 1, 2012, updated May 24, 2013 Posted on November 16, 2009, updated December 1, 2012 Posted on July 08, 2003, updated November 15, 2009 Having ordered lilies from great companies (Old House Gardens, The Lily Garden) my expectations were high when I ordered sets of Longidragon and Speciosum Uchida from B&D Lilies. Lilies from this company are not inexpensive. I have quite a few lilies and sometimes, when we have a tough winter, lilies from really fine companies do not come up. A half dozen of the lilies from the excellent Lily Garden did not appear (many others did), nor did three from White Flower Farm (which, whatever shortcomings they have, provide great peonies and lilies), but ALL my lilies from B&D did, have budded nicely with no signs of fungus from the dampness we have been experiencing (which a number of others did). The bulbs were very large, beautifully packaged, came with fertilizer tablets and excellent instructions. I am very happy with the resulting plants, and am planning my next order.

On July 31st, 2003, DonnaMack added the following: I just wanted to report on the B&B Lilies plants I received. The lilies bloomed beautifully (three to a stem when one is common - if they bloom at all the first year). This was a very damp spring. I have lilies from four different and wonderful companies, but B&D's were the only ones that showed NO trace of fungus or disease of any kind. Some of the lilies from other companies did not come up at all and are being replaced. I will order again.
On November 15th, 2009, DonnaMack added the following: I have placed orders from B&D almost every year since I originally rated them. I continue to be extremely happy with the large, beautifully wrapped bulbs I receive each year. Some years ago, I was sent a test lily which, because of my own oversight, was "eaten" by a viburnum. I emailed a picture of it in glorious bloom to them, asking that it be identified, and it seemed that only minutes later I received a reply. I ordered it, along with a number of others, and the bulbs were large and fresh. They are first on my list at lily ordering time.
On December 1st, 2012, DonnaMack added the following: I received an email from B&D about a sale on lily bulbs that were, as they put it "bruised and dented". I had wanted to get speciosum 'Uchida', one of my favorites from my old yard, but had hesitated. I placed my order, and received two large and one very large bulb. I would happily have paid full price for them. In addition, they were very well packaged. I'll be back in the spring.
On May 24th, 2013, DonnaMack added the following: I just placed and received another order from B&D. It was a special for six Lilium Sorbonne. These very large and fresh bulbs are not what you necessarily expect on a special offer. I should add the the bulbs I mentioned in my December 12 review overwintered successfully in my garage and are now forming. They are exceptional.
On April 18th, 2014, DonnaMack added the following: I just received and began planting my lilies from B&D. I had a special privilege in that, dues to the massive credit card problems this spring and the need to replace my card, I had several conversations with Bob (The B in B&D). He shared lily history with me, and kindly added some extras to my order, and the bulbs I received (Prince Promise, Speciosum Uchida and Anastasia) were so fresh I could imagine that they were put in a box around the corner and brought to me immediately. I can always depend upon them for the best quality of bulbs. Year after year.

I have purchased lily bulbs from B&D for three years running. Their bulbs are very large, some are baseball size, and come well cared-for and in good shape. I have spoken with the owners, who man their own phones, and they seem very nice. NOTE: This company is currently categorized as supplying Daylilies, but they sell true Lilies.

On November 29th, 2013, bryana added the following: The BEST bulb purchase I made this fall. I ordered 6 Oriental, 12 Orienpet and 6 trumpet hybrid bulbs and two bonus bulbs. All the bulbs were well labeled, carefully packaged and the bulbs were almost the size of softballs. I expect them to bloom for a decade even with neglect. I ordered lily bulbs elsewhere and now I'm sorry. You can order with hesitation from B & D.

I ordered some lilies very late in the fall, including some "scratch & dent" specials. They shipped quickly, but managing NOT to have the bulbs arrive on the day when the temperature dropped to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. All of the bulbs were larger than expected - - I had to extend the holes I had dug in advance to accommodate them. The flaws that made some of them "seconds" were mostly not obvious to me. The selection of bulbs is large, and the company is very clear about which ones are tolerant of Minnesota winters. They come with detailed information on planting & winter protection. I would order again from them.

The lilly bulbs I ordered from this company did not grow, even though I followed their planting directions. I attempted to resolve this with the company, politely requesting replacement bulbs. My request was answered with rude, insulting comments, repeatedly suggesting that I did not care for the bulbs properly. As a master gardener with multiple awards for my plants and flowers I feel I have knowledge about growing a variety of plants/bulbs and I made a sincere effort to care for these lilly bulbs as directed. Any attempt to receive a reasonable replacement was refused by the company. Be very cautious, their products may look good but their customer is some of the WORST I have ever experienced.

Ordered very late in season for lilies. Post office misplaced first package (finally arrived and was returned to sender). Ordered more and B&D added the missing bulbs from the first package. This package arrived today in 4 days. Bulbs were beautiful. One was substituted because they were out - substitution was better than what I had ordered. These guys are pros. All bulbs are now planted.

Posted on October 24, 2011, updated October 26, 2012 Posted on January 4, 2011, updated October 24, 2011 Thats a 'GREAT BIG POSITIVE'! I buy bulbs from B&D because they 'are what they say they are' and 'they are what I expect them to be'. I can put their bulbs in a selected spot planting right 'out front' with complete confidence it'll end up being what I want for size, color and effect! And TRUE TO NAME! Thats important to me! My recent experiences with famous name importers has been that I got too many dissapointing surprizes--Varients--that I'd have to dig up and give to somebody else--And--I hate doing things over. I have a special isolation and test garden out back just for them now. Again, I trust B&D stock--RIGHT OUT FRONT!

On October 24th, 2011, roosterlorn added the following: I should add comments everytime I order from B&D, but I don't-so I will summarize a little. I grow lilies for a hobby. Lots of them. Here's what I like about B&D: The bulbs you receive are grown right there on their farm with rare exception being some rare exotic ones. So, by default this provides two important advantages: 1. Positive identification of lily by name so you can be assured--come next spring--the bulbs you worked hard to plant will give you a plant and flower just like you wanted. 2. If you order in the fall(as I do), the bulbs are 'fresh dug' so you get them within days from leaving the ground--not weeks or months later like some other mail order houses. Bulbs are always large for their catagory and healthy. I can honestly say: I've never had one of theirs fail to date. And, I like the fact they ship USPS using the flate rate boxes. It only takes 2 days from WA to here in s.e. WIS. Also, it seems by default these boxes turn out to be an excellant choice because the individualy packaged bulbs have just enough freedom of movement within, should they get a 'hard jolt' somewhere. I've always been happy and never once had an occasion to complain to them (pretty much goes on trouble free). I did have one occasion where a shipment had a single bulb that was damaged to the point it might not survive--a short Email to them--and without further word, two days later, here came a backup bulb just in case. It was one of the more expensive ones. These are just some but important nice things I've learned about B&D and wanted to pass on my experience to anyone who is looking to buy lily lily bulbs.
On October 26th, 2012, roosterlorn added the following: 2012 update: Spring and Fall orders continued to be impressive--nice big, healthy bulbs. Bulbs purchased last year produced an abundance of flowers this year. Very enjoyable company to buy from. Highly recommended!

I recently bought over a hundred dollar's worth of bulbs the them. They were all huge, well packaged and arrived safely. I should have a beautiful display of lilies next year with the quality of these bulbs. When I called the company to ask when the the order was being shipped, because they had not arrived by the end of September, the staff was kind, helpful and courteously explained that one of the verities I had ordered was not ready to be dug up yet, but that they would ship the entire order in about 2 weeks. She was very helpful. I am very pleased with their bulbs and will order from them again.

Posted on October 18, 2011, updated April 1, 2012 First time ordering from B&D Lilies. Was quite interesting a person to talk too on the phone, a very knowledgeable person. Order was shipped even faster than expected as recieved order in mid October as opposed to late October early November as stated which was a nice perk, and each bulb was baged individually and nicely packaged within the box. Ordered two Orientpet type lilies. Robina and Las Cerezas. The Robina bulb was huge and healthy but the Las Cerezas bulb seems kind on tiny and light, but this is a martigoon hybrib which I have no experience with, so maybe they are smaller and lighter, I have no idea, but they both had a nice root system. They are both now planted, and I will keep this page updated this Summer as to the condition of the Las Cerezas bulb and if both bulbs bloom and survive; But so far the overall experience from ordering from this company was a good one and so as of right now they deserve a positive.

On April 1st, 2012, themikesmom added the following: Update: Spring 2012: Both Bulbs sent last Fall sent up healthy shoots, took longer for the Robina bulb to send out a runner, good thing it did, though about 4 weeks later, because I was worried that the bulb did not make it through the winter and was just about ready to call and request a new one, good thing I waited, excellent quality bulbs.

I have now had two wonderful experiences ordering lily bulbs from this company. The bulbs I have received from them have been freshly harvested, well packed and very large, plump and healthy. When size was not consistent within a variety, they even included a few extra bulbs to compensate for some smaller bulbs. Lilium pumilum bulbs were at least 5 times the size of those received from another source, and the bulbs of Triumphator and El Condor were so large they filled my palm. I look forward to doing business with them in the future.

The bulbs are always the size promised; packaging & delivery have presented no problems; the website contains answers to almost any conceivable question; phone calls or e-mails, when necessary, are answered promptly. The staff are very happy to help me, and that is becoming a rarity in today's fast paced world. Oh, I forgot to mention; the resulting flowers have been gorgeous! I placed an order of 5 lilies with B & D Lilies last October. Fast shipment, nice packing, gigantic bulbs, fast email response. Among the 3 "little yellow kiss" asiatic lilies, only one is growing. It has produced 3 bubs, only 1 has opened, the other two have turned yellow and died. All lilies are growing extremely slow. The plants and flowers are small. The plants are only 6" tall. I have broken the stem of one "little kiss" accidentally. Bob told me that the bulbs will grow next year, but the plant will be smaller. Recently I have broken the stem of an Elodie lily from Michigan Bulb, it's growing back with some new leaves. The lilies that I ordered from Dutch Gardens and Van Bourgondien this spring are already 1.5 feet tall with healthy leaves and flowers. They are planting in the same spot with the B & D lily bulbs. Is that because bulbs plant in fall are difficult to break the dormancy? This happens to all my fall planted bulbs including iris. I have learned a lesson that I will never plant bulbs in fall for summer growing plants. Also, I will think twice to place an order with nurseries that do NOT offer replacements.

I just received my order a couple hours ago. They're in the ground already. I am very, very pleased with the size and quality of the bulbs but absouluteyl astounded by their service. You could actually read and understand the lables with very pertinant information. They were attached to the outsides of the packages as well which was a real plus. And they were colour coded so you knew if you had trumpets or asiatics or what ever, really helped with organizing the bed. When I placed my order I was contacted about shipping. They were going to ship the next day and I asked about arrival time explaining that we are religious Jews and I wouldn't be able to bring in the box let alone plant the bulbs from Friday til Sunday morning and they would have to sit on the front porch. Her immediate response was "Oh no, I understand perfectly, we can't let that happen, let me check shipping and I'll make sure that doesn't happen" They came in 1PM today Monday!!! I am giving BD a neutral but leaning more to negative. Like many others I have delt with Snowy Creek for at least fifteen years and was very satisfied until this summer. I moved, and when I placed my order for daylilies ( first part of order delivered in July, second part in Sept)I used my new address but the order went to the old house where it sat in the heat for several days. The new owners delivered the order to my new house, of course the plants were stressed and some had dried up. I called BD and asked why my order didn't go to the address I had given . I was told" it wasn't easy to change addresses in the database", of course the second part of the order went to the old address too. They never changed the default although the invoice was to my new address. I called BD to say I was not ordering from them anymore,They tried to "make it right" I was too angry to make a replacement choice at the time but wrote them in October to ask for replacements, never heard from them again. Of course the season was over by then. I believe there has been a change in employees in the past few years and that is where many of the problems come from.

On May 19th, 2008, ge1836 changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following: I must eat crow. B&D Lilies just sent an unexpected replacement plus bonus bulbs. My order was handled in a very professional manner and e-mail communication was excellent. If you want some lily bulbs B&D is the place to try. I will be ordering from them again. Kind of a let down compared to what I expected - After reading others glowing reviews and based on their prices I was expecting more than I got. Out of 7 bulbs 2 did good, 2 were OK(one flower), 2 grew but didn't bloom and one flopped(rotted). I planted them where I have grown other lilies and since they didn't include any special instructions I believe I did my part correctly.

On June 14th, 2008, elfeik added the following: This year I planted 10 mixed orienpets and 5 white rubrum lilies, i got from John Scheepers for less than what I paid for B&D's 5-6 bulbs, in the same area and so far they are looking good. They haven't bloomed yet, but the plants look healthy & all have buds forming. I supposed I should have complained more, but I was rather disgusted with the "dying swan" act B&D gave me the first time I contacted them and figured I didn't want to waste another season on a crap shoot

I am fortunate enough to be able to buy directly from B&D each spring at their booth at the Home and Garden Show in Great Falls, MT (Please don't ever stop coming to the show you guys!!). I stick mainly to lily bulbs and have always been happy. Here is a tip however: throw out the bulb planter when you decide to plant the MONSTER bulbs that they carry. They are simply huge. Go for a shovel. You will need it! LOL

I have been ordering from B&D Lilies for several years now and have always been happy with their service and quality. I have checked out other lily sites and saw some great products, but always seem to go back to B&D. I recently received two separate orders, one for a spring special and another involving some of their "Private Harvest" bulbs. The spring special bulbs came wonderfully packaged, large, and in great shape. But the Private Harvest-sized bulbs were unbelieveable. They had a special clearance of some of theirPrivate Harvest Bulbs and they were absolutely the largest lily bulbs have seen in my life. I've been growing lilies for about 15 years, and these bulbs (I ordered the Copper King strain) were literally larger than grapefruit I purchased the same day the bulbs arrived. Two of the five bulbs I ordered were larger than the grapefruit and the other three were just about as big. I was flabbergasted. In addition to all this, the shipping was free for the Private Harvest. I highly recommend B&D. They have a fantastic selection (more than most of the other liliy sites) and compared to other lily sites, their prices are reasonable. More new best friends for my gardening needs!!

I was disappointed with this company. I placed an order in 12/06 for economy bags of bulbs. When I received the order confirmation, I noticed that full size bulbs were listed on my order, not economy bags. I contacted the company in 2/07 to find out that the economy bags were for a sale that ended in 4/05! I asked to cancel my order since the economy bags weren't available and the company agreed to do so. However, my order was not canceled, my credit card was not refunded and I was sent the full size bulbs. I contacted the company again and I was told to refuse the box and that my credit card would be credited that same day. I have been checking my account every day and my credit card still has not been credited and it has been almost a week.

The original order was placed by this customer for sale bulbs offered in April of 2005 which were no longer available. The order came through as 3 full sized bulbs rather than 3 bags of 12 size 14/16 cm bulbs which "badzoe" questioned in an email. I explained that the sale was from over a year ago but offered to make good with size 16/18 cm bulbs if she wished at no extra chaged in an email to her on 2/9/07. We overlooked leaving the sale listing in the table of contents after the sale was over. It had been removed form the active pages of our web site but becuase it was still listed in the table of contents, I offered to make good to this customer on the original sale price with larger bulbs. A copy of my emailed offer to this customer is available if anyone wishes to see it. This customer then contacted our office after her order had been processed for 3 individual bulbs as ordered. She did not take my offer of the larger bulbs at the sale price. I told her it was not a problem in canceling the order and did so in the order computer. The order had already been printed out and was in the shipping line up and during the shipping rush the cancelation was missed and the order was shipped. This customer contacted us via email when she received her order and was told by Dianna to refuse the package so that it would be sent back and that she would process her refund that day which was Satudray 4/14/07. Before the refund was made that day, a serious family emergence came up and the refund of $21.10 was not made by Dianna on 4/14 but was processed today, 4/19/07. This was a simple oversite in shipping that was complicated by a medical emergency delaying the refund by 5 days. To this customer, I apologize. With Dianna being out of the office, I (Bob) have been running a few days behind on paperwork. As of yet, we have not received the bulbs back that we were told were going to be returned.

My first order from B & D lilies arrived the other day. I was disappointed that some items weren't included, but thrilled that the reason was they didn't feel they were of a quality to send. The way they described them as sprouted is what i'm used to seeing in all of the box stores. They provided credit towards future purchase which i can't wait to use! The bulbs that were sent are in great shape and some of the largest i've ever seen. I'm very pleased with what they sent and i appreciate the fact the look out for their customers. lynda
