Bay Flora

I bought a Parfianka pomegranate tree from Bay Flora in February 2013. It arrived promptly and healthy. I followed all the enclosed instructions and it grew many leaves and a few blossoms the first year. The next year, I got many blossoms and maybe 3 fruit. The year after that, the number tripled. In 2016, we had over 100 blossoms and over 30 fruit. The taste is just phenomenal! It's now 2017, we counted over 300 blossoms and the tree is barely over 5 feet tall. We are wondering how many fruit this little tree will yield this year. It continues to amaze us every year. Love it! Thanks Bay Flora!

I ordered two sansho plants (Zanthoxylum Pipertum). They arrived promptly, well packaged and in good health. I have successfully transplanted them. I would definitely purchase from them again. Thank you Bay Flora!

Purchased a Femminello Santa Teresa Lemon, Panachee Fig, and Nocellara del Belice Olive trees, which are planted and have plenty of new growth. Everything came well packed and in great condition. Maureen the owner was wonderful, thoroughly answered all my questions (I'm an Engineer so there was plenty to go around). They have an awesome collection of trees, may have to wait for them to be in their prime, but is well worth it.

Who knows why Lattarulla figs are so hard to find? Bay Flora has them so I got one last year. It didn't look like much but grew beautifully and I harvested a few great figs in late summer. They carry lots of tempting edibles, so I ordered a Bouquet de Fleurs and an Italian lemon and they arrived yesterday. Both very vibrant looking with fruit on the former and flowers on the latter. Would order again.

Seems like gardeners always want to grow what they can't. I've always loved tropicals, which is a setup for failure for Midwest gardeners. But I installed a trellis and planter inside my south-facing bay window and stumbled upon Bay Flora's passion vines. The one with the black fruit arrived about a month ago, with fruit and flowers. Those flowers! They seem to be lasting only a day but new buds are forming all the time. One of the fruit dropped off and we ate it last night and it was great. That vine has grown at least 2 feet since I got it and at this rate it will completely cover the window (my goal) by Christmas. So glad I got it when it was still warm enough to ship. Also got a koroneiki olive tree that was bigger than described, loaded with olives turning black. It hasn't grown like a weed the way the passion vine has but it is real healthy.

I almost cancelled my order for a Chinese haw because I was tired of the wait due to summer heat. Saturday it finally arrived and it was in pristine condition, so lesson learned to wait for cool temps when shipping plants. I was expecting a tree closer to the one pictured on their website (shows a tree freshly pruned in January) and boy what a pleasant surprise to see this big boy, with lots of branches and very leafy, with a substantial trunk. Ingenious bracing in the shipping box too--very sturdy but easy to remove. Green thumbs up for sure!

We followed the directions and both trees are doing well. We give numerous gold stars to Bay Flora for their customer service and here's why: The two trees arrived and I unpacked them. When my wife came outside she noted one tree was broken. We contacted Bay Flora and during the conversation commented that the trees were packaged differently. Bay Flora contacted FedEx and they admitted to having run over one of the trees with their truck and repackaged it. Bay Flora set it all 100% right for us. We are very pleased and will order from this company without hesitation.

Posted on May 13, 2015, updated May 29, 2015 Please, someone grow sanshos by male/female! That said, my sanshos came fast by FedEx and look great, about 3' tall with lots of fresh new growth. Leaves are powerfully pungent which is perfect for my cooking needs.

Just received a pair of Szechuan peppers. One has flowers and they arrived safely across the country. I am very looking forward to growing these for the pepper berries.

Fig trees arrived beginning to leaf out and fruit forming. Shipping was reduced since they bundled several trees into one package. Vibrant looking trees and looking forward to harvest this season.

My ongoing search for sansho trees as well as reliable information about them came to a satisfying conclusion with this nursery. They explain clearly about pollenization requirements if you're after the berries. I had a question about the sexing of the trees and got a fast & useful reply. They also reduced ship charges when I ordered 2 sanshos.

I recently ordered a pineapple guava tree from them. I emailed them prior to placing my order and they gave me a good recommendation. When I placed my order, they emailed me to see if based on my special instructions I'd rather get a different type of pineapple guava and they did not charge me for the few $ difference in price with the change. Overall very helpful, friendly, and prompt service. I wish they had more plants that would fit in my garden!

I got some very nice specimens of Chilean guava, including the hard to find variegated one. There are a few berries on the straight species and it's very healthy. They held the order due to hot weather and checked to see if it was convenient to ship this week. Nice service.

I bought a Panache fig tree from Bayflora 3 years ago. A year and a half later, when the first crop of fruit matured, I realized that the variety was not a Panache. I contacted Bayflora and they immediately agreed to ship a replacement tree. The tree overwintered just fine, but regrettably, died this spring. When I attempted to order a new one, Bayflora kindly offered to ship ANOTHER replacement free of charge. This was extremely generous of them and I recommend them for their excellent customer service as well as the fine, large size trees that they ship.

I was expecting a Chinese haw tree similar to the photo on the website, which looked a little scrawny. Wow, I guess California weather can really push growth because this tree was over 5 feet tall and full of leafy branches. I just planted it and the rootball is also well developed. Easy ordering (after a pretty long wait that turned out to be worth it--they were out of stock for over a year but maybe that's why the tree is so established), fast turnaround, good communication with email confirmation and tracking number. There's also a care guide enclosed that answered all my questions. Thumbs up.

Just received a contorted Jujube and it's a beautiful specimen, larger and more tightly wound than description implied. Securely packed, well-rooted & branched.

I emailed a few questions about plant suitability for my woodland garden in Atherton, CA. A thorough response arrived within the hour. I ordered 12 sansho trees and 5 yuzus. There was a 24 hour turnaround on shipping and the plants looked great on arrival. I had a few more questions about care that were not covered in the instructions enclosed. Those questions too were answered post-sale. The plants are breaking out in new growth now and are quite vigorous. This purchase has been a very pleasing and worthwhile experience in all respects.

Out of all the plants under my tree, the kaffir lime was my favorite. There must be 500 leaves (can't wait to throw some in with shrimp and garlic) and at least a dozen fruit. It's a beautiful specimen bursting with health and a great branching structure.

These people aren't kidding about the Frantoio olive trees. Top branches were bent over to fit into a 4' tall box. They're great specimens and it's too bad there won't be any more of these trees from McEvoy, so if you want them now's the time. Ordered on a Tuesday afternoon and they arrived on Friday with instructions.It would be great if there were a retail location for us locals.

Third time must really be the charm. I just got my Panachee Tiger fig after ordering online from two other sources and having the puny things die on me the past two years. Bay Flora's is at least twice as big with a tiny little fig beginning! The trunk is substantial and plant has been properly tip pruned and new branches are beginning to leaf out. And this fig has yellow stripes on the trunk which the other Panachees did not--makes me wonder if they were even the right variety. I asked a question about nematodes in the comments section at check-out and got a detailed answer referencing my local ag extension agency that gave me everything I needed to know about that root pest. Very pleased with the experience and at last I may get to actually grow my own Panachee here in L.A.

My calamondin arrived last week, 4 days after placing order. Wow, it's bigger than described, in perfect condition and laden with ripe fruit. Smooth transaction with tracking number sent day of shipping, secure packaging and not a leaf out of place.

I purchased a Trovita Orange Tree in early September and everything went well - almost. The tree arrived quickly and with minimum stress and leaf loss (they do a better than average job shipping as noted by other reviewers). However, there was a 3 inch area on the rootstock that had pre-existing damage and had healed with time. I was expecting a perfect tree and contacted Bay Flora regarding my concerns - I received a response in less than 30 minutes! I was offered a full refund as they want their customers completely satisified. Well, I really wanted a replacement tree and not a refund but unfortunately they were out of stock. Moral of the review - It pays to purchases plants/trees from a reputable nursery. They don't come much better than Bay Flora and I highly recommend this nursery if you are looking for outstanding customer service. I will definitely purchase from them again. My experience with Bay Flora was extremely positive. I ordered an olive tree during the hottest part of summer. They had to delay my order because the constant 95 degree heat would be a likely death sentence for a tree in shipment, but they communicated very well with me the whole time. When the weather cooled enough for safe shipment, they coordinated a delivery time with me directly. The tree arrived healthy and extremely well packaged. Good-sized cardboard box with wood slats inside to keep the pot stationary, bubble wrap and paper to cushion the roots, and instructions on tree care. Quality soil mix, no broken branches, no wilting, no pests, no spilled soil, just a happy tree covered with little olives. Customer service was also able to give me some advice on potting, since olive trees are not in my zone. Given the good communication, the excellent packaging, and the healthy tree, I'd recommend this place with a thumbs-up.

After looking around on the net for a Calamondin tree,decided to order to this company.Placed the order Feb 7,2012,have to put the order on hold due to the cold weather.March 02,2012 got an email asking me if i want my plant to be ship and if yes they will be shipping the plant on monday March 05,2012,i said yes since weather got really warm and nice.when i got home march 7th this tall box waiting for me on my porch,got excited and opened it soon i got inside.The plant looks really healthy bushy and lots of bloom.Im so excited on picking some of its fruits in a few months.I am really satisfied to this company and im definitely ordering again from them.And im recommending it to family and friends.Thanks bay flora!

Recently ordered a Gold Nugget Mandarin tree after researching and pricing them from a couple places. I chose Bay Flora based on the concise description of the size and age of the tree along with the price because I didn't want to wait a few years to see fruit if I was going to pay a good bit of money for the tree. I definitely picked the right place! It arrived yesterday, very well packed with detailed directions for its care. It was exactly as described, small but fruiting! Very healthy with 4 medium sized fruits already growing. Will definitely do business again if they carry something I'm looking for! Great business!

After deciding to finally get an Olive tree (Arbequina) and reading the reviews about Bay Flora, I took the plunge and ordered a larger 5gal one from them last Sunday night. They mailed it out on Monday and it just arrived here in CT today, Sat. That is some fast action coming from CA! The tree was very well packaged as mentioned by others. It looks great and has many Olive buds on it as well! So happy with the quality of this Olive tree,it looks very healthy! Will keep them in mind if I want to add anything else they offer. Love the fact that they donate a small percentage to the charity of your choosing, too.

This company had a pomegranate variety I couldn't find anywhere else. Bay Flora was extremely helpful with regard to getting the tree here when I would be in town to receive it. The tree was packaged very well, with detailed instructions included. If I ever want anything else this company sells, I would be pleased to order from Bay Flora again.

I ordered a Pineapple Guava tree from Bay Flora a few weeks ago. I got prompt service and received a nice plant well packed and in good condition.

I normally don't write comments on here, but after my first order arrived today, I had to tell you all about the best company I've ever dealt with. I purchased an 'Angel Red' pomegranate from Bay Flora last week after reading the reviews here. I am very impressed with the company and their shipping. Let me described how the plant was packaged. It was shipped in a tall box via Fed Ex. There was a note on the box to open down the side, which I did. When I opened up the box, there was a wooden frame surrounding the pot to keep it in place. Impressive! The entire plant was wrapped tightly with brown paper. Around the trunk was bubble wrap. The pot was in a plastic bag and taped at the top of the pot. The entire top of the pot was covered with tape to hold the soil in place. This company has a great shipping process. The plant arrived perfectly and did not move at all in the box. Shipping was very quick too. The plant is dormant right now, but all the stems have green when scraped lightly. It's all ready to sprout out new leaves when spring comes. I will definitely order another hard-to-find plant from Bay Flora!

I was just dealing with them on my second order when I realized I never gave them a review for the first. I ordered 4 olive trees at the beginning of the year I believe. They came promptly, well packaged and are doing great still even in this unbelievable heat. Shipping is higher in farther states like mine but they seem to take great care in packaging and sending out healthy plants. So it was worth it for sure. They even refunded me for a little of the shipping cost because the amount of plants I ordered fit together perfectly to make 1 large box. Don't think many people do that! Oh and I had a little issue with my credit card and bank and I worked it out with their help. I forgot about that issue and again sort of created it again by accident and they again went above and beyond to help me. Can't say enough about them. Another highly recommended place!

I've placed two orders with them, one in February for two pomegranates. One in July for a Chilean Guava. Great care went into packing both orders. They came in one day (I'm in San Jose, CA, very close to their location). All plants were in very good condition out of the box and my two pomegranates are doing great. The Chilean Guava is doing fine as well after a couple of weeks in the ground. All plants came with a planting/care sheet. They are a little bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. They also let you donate 10% of your order to a charity of your choice. I'll probably get another order again from them in the future.

I bought a Black Beauty mulberry from Bay Flora. Not only does the little tree look great--packed well and arriving in healthy condition--but I greatly appreciated the information that the folks at Bay Flora gave me regarding the tree at the time I was ordering it. I'm in Vermont and mulberries are somewhat experimental for this cold of a climate. I felt that Bay Flora gave me the information I needed to give the tree a try--knowing that I might have bad luck and that it won't survive, but my fingers are crossed!

Exceptional Customer Service & Beautiful Product! After months of on and off searching and much procrastination, we purchased an Arbequina Olive Tree. My order was processed on May 9th, I found FedEx @ the door May. 14th. The tree is about 3 ft. tall and was wrapped up safely within, tied carefully to a double bamboo stake for support. They enclosed a small card as well as a set of directions for introductory as well as ongoing care for the lil guy. The product, the price and the service were all amazing, looking forward to our next transaction ;)

Ordered an olive tree last month on a Friday. Plant arrived healthy and in great condition the following Thursday. The plant is doing well and I even named him...(Oliver - how original, right?). Service and quality are top notch, although shipping was kind of expensive but you can't really control that. But do remember, you do get what you pay for...and with all the horror stories I've read on this site, this was an amazingly quick, error-free transaction worth the cost. Would definitely order from them again.

I ordered a panachee tiger fig last Monday and it arrived on Thursday with a heat pack. I got an email informing me to be there to take the fig in to avoid the cold. Very large and it had a few small branches. I didn't know the trunk would be striped so that's exciting. This is the biggest fig I've ever received mailorder.

Bought two Japanese Pepper Trees and had them shipped to Florida where I was visiting. the plants arrived in well, nice packaging, top condition and quickly as promised. VERY PLEASED!!! I definitely will buy from Bay Flora again.

Just hope I don't kill it when I bring it in for the winter. Wish I could visit their operation while I'm out in California but no retail location.

Being a perfectionist my standards are high. I am delighted to say “Bayflora exceeded expectations”. I did my research on line and thanks to those before me who endorsed Bayflora I am proud of my Kaffir Lime Trees. As a gourmet cook who grows watercress and Asian herbs for Asian markets in my Japanese Garden with 16K gallons of water and Koi fish I have been searching for weeks for the best source of Kaffir Lime Trees. PACKAGING: Unbelievable – Plants were tie wrapped and double staked both metal and bamboo; tie wrapped every inch or two to protect for the long trip from CA to NC. Plant soil was damp and topped with damp newspaper to keep a good eight inches of soil totally in tact with the roots growing well in a tall plastic pot. Finally the plants were individually bagged in plastic and placed in their own shipping box. Four boxes were taped together and these one year old “babies” were protected for safe shipping. SHIPPING: Bayflora took my order Saturday, shipped Monday and delivered Wednesday. Bayflora shipped FedEx and emailed a link to follow the order from pick-up to delivery. KAFFIR LIME TREES: Bayflora Kaffir Lime Trees have lush shiny green leaves and put out new growth in just days after receiving them. I have already repotted them, no wilt, not a single dropped leaf. This company does everything right--it tells you what size pot the plant will come in, when it will arrive, and what to expect in terms of size. My fig tree was actually bigger than the website description and had small figs on it. And the Trovita orange had over 100 flowers on it and barely fit inside the 4 foot tall box.

A few years back I got a black beauty mulberry. Didn't do anything for the first year, but it really took off last year. I just got today one of the Chinese hawthorn trees and it has fat leaf buds and a sturdy trunk, nice roots.

I bought one of the pomegranates that were described as suitable for coastal climates. It was very helpful to read about which varieties would grow near the coast as opposed to dry inland areas. The plant is very well-developed and appropriately pruned, and arrived fast.

Unbelievable quality. I have previously ordered citrus from other online growers with good results but decided to try out Bay Flora based on the reviews here. I am really glad I did because I received two trees that rewrote my expectations. The pricing seemed fair; I have certainly paid less, but I will tell you emphatically, that the quality of these trees and service was MORE than worth the price. I ordered one "moro" blood orange and one Washington naval orange. Let's start with the shipping: I placed my order on the Sunday night before the Thanksgiving holiday and received an email from Maureen that said that they had upgraded me to FedEx two day shipping at no extra charge. This was very considerate on Bay Flora's part and I very much appreciated the upgrade. The trees arrived on Wednesday as scheduled. Packaging: two trees, independently boxed but secured to each other so as to be delivered together. I opened up the box to find the trees snug as can be. Not a single branch, or leaf for that matter, out of place. As I unwrapped the trees I noticed some warmth on top of the pot. Bay Flora was kind enough to place heat packs on both of my citrus, free of charge! The trees: both trees are incredibly lush, over two feet tall, and literally beautiful to look at. I can't wait to see the new growth these put on in the spring and summer. I will certainly return to shop with them again. Thank you!

Top knotch. Shipping is a little above average but the plants are great and well packed. I will continue to purchase from them when I want good looking plants instead of cheapo stuff.

I ordered 4 olive trees which were beautiful upon arrival. Packaging was excellent and shipping was expedient. I wish other West Coast nurseries would follow their lead for fast shipping at a reasonable price to the East Coast.

I wanted to maximize my kaffir lime leaf harvest, so I bought the semi-dwarf kaffir lime. It was branching from about 2.5 feet from base and I wanted to make it branch lower for more leaves. So I emailed them and they said I could prune the entire tree down to about 2 feet. I was able to harvest all those leaves I cut off and now there are 3 new branches growing below the cut. I also have a dwarf kaffir lime and I've gotten more leaves out of this semi-dwarf. It's also blooming on the new branches, and my bigger dwarf has yet to bloom.

I received my Olive tree order on Wednesday after a 2 day wait! They were beautiful! Both were extremely healthy and full of olives. I am very impressed with the quality and service! There are not enough good things to say about my experience with Bay Flora. From ordering online at their beautiful website to receiving the plants it has been absolutely perfect. I ordered from them after reading the wonderful reviews they had here and they lived up to and surpassed them. Maureen is an absolute angel and so accommodating and responsive. It's been the best online ordering experience I've ever had. I ordered a Pomegranate and Guava tree...and they are both absolutely beautiful...big and healthy and flowering...and so reasonably priced. This is the ONLY place to get your fruit trees. You will not be disappointed.
