Tree Peony Garden

Altogether I have purchased 7 tree peonies from Pam and I couldn't speak more highly of the person or the product. All tp's were large with extensive root systems. Came with planting instructions. And all are thriving with new red buds popping out preparing for spring growth. Thanks to Pam for a wonderful experience.

We have ordered tree peonies from Tree Peony Garden for several years, and have been very satisfied with both the service and the plants. We usually order five-year-old plants, and in almost every case they have been huge and vigorous. This year she was out of five year old plants for some of the peonies we wanted, so we ordered two-year-old plants. They were obviously smaller, but with good root systems - and almost as large as the five-year-old plants we purchased from another seller.The owner is helpful and friendly on the telephone. One slight word of warning - she does not accept credit cards.

Posted on October 28, 2011, updated May 6, 2012 Ordered 3 tree peonies from them and was amazed at the size. One I had paid extra for, a 6-year size, and it was simply gigantic - both roots and stems. The 2 standard sized ones were also hefty. Everything was very well packaged. I also received 2 free herbaceous peonies which were rather small. I will definitely be back for more in the future. They have a nice selection, especially of Chinese tree peonies, and very good prices.

Posted on November 11, 2010, updated November 13, 2011 I ordered 5 tree peonies and some herbaceous peonies last year and 5 more tree peonies this year. In general the plants are large and healthy. The regular peonies did not have large root systems but all grew. The tree peonies had large root systems and arrived well packaged - I had to dig holes over 2 feet deep to accommodate the roots and the bottom of the stems.. Some were older and more expensive but for some, the less expensive younger plants had much larger branches than the older ones which does not seem right. They ran out of one I ordered even though I ordered early and the substitute fell through too but I did get a refund.

Ordered two tree peonies from them last year, almost no root at all. So far no sign of life yet while the other ones I have already make buds. Looks like they are a quick write off.

I made a purchase last year based on the positive review here, but unfortunately I received plants with tiny root systems. Obviously the plants struggled a lot this year and I have my finger crossed.

Posted on May 3, 2010, updated May 3, 2010 Warning: This is a True mom and pop operation. OK first I tried e-mailing them spring '09 about their website and when I could order and got no reply. By checking weekly I figured out the website opens for orders around 4th of July. It always sells out so order early. Next when you order, you don't get a confirmation e-mail, nor a shipping date, just a bill on your credit card and all of a sudden you get a UPS tracking message in the e-mail a week before plants ship in September. Plants ship Bare root, so hopefully you know how to deal with them. I got planting instructions in Chinese, not English, Pam was very nice and answered me from her cell in the field right after my order arrived and e-mailed a pdf planting instructions in english that night so I got them in the ground the next day.Nice healthy tuberous roots and strong stems. After the rainiest fall ever and winter of snowmageddon, I figured they were toast but they actually flourished, I had 2 flowers on my rockii and 3 on my luoyang hong this spring and both are over 3 feet tall already. Highly recommended for great plants, best prices in the US, huge selection, but not if you are OCD, paranoid, can't deal with quirky little nurseries, bare root plants etc.

I've ordered a total of 5 tree peonies in 2007 and 2008 from this company. Both times the peonies arrived in good condition. I lost 2 in subsequent years from drought and drainage problems in my garden but the remaining tree peonies are are doing very well. They are fragile when young and it took 2-3 years for them to establish themselves and bloom -but they were worth the effort. They are magnificent in bloom. Pam has been very helpful when I had questions and was kind enough to include two free peonies with my first large order, one of them being "Golden Wheel", a rare yellow herbaceous peony. They have the best selection of Chinese and Japanese peonies (tree and herbaceous) I have seen yet and some Asian ornamental trees and shrubs. I am very happy with my experience and would order again.

I spent $250 and ordered three tree peonies from this company in 2007. They arrived with roots severely chopped off just like (or worse than) the body bag roses sold at walmart. I called them immediately. A lady, Pam (?), told me that they had to do it to pass the U.S. aggriculture import regulation and promised me that the plant would grow. Well, they didn't. All three had very weak growth in 2008 and one of them died by fall. I called again. She told me to wait until 2009. Next spring all three had no sign of life and she finally refund me $80 (for one of the plants only, as she said I had to split the cost with her?!). So in the end I spent $170 and two years of TLC, and only the gift herbaceous peony (I think it is 'Kansas' which I can get at HomeDepot for $10) survived. I will never order from this place again. BTW, I grow a lot of peonies and roses in my garden and I don't think I have a black thumb.

This was a first time order for me for both Tree Peony Garden and a tree peony itself. My order arrived promptly and in great condition. I ordered a Lan Bao Shi and the root system was thick and very well developed. In addition, the company included an herbaceous peony as a thank you gift. I was very impressed and would absolutely order from them again! Thank you Tree Peony Garden!

I mailed my ordered last Wednesday for a Tree Peony 'Shimanishiki' from Pam and received my tree Wednesday. Customer service was excellent and Pam called me to let me know she received my check and would be shipping my tree out. We talk a couple of days with her answering all my questions. She gave me a free peony which was huge with about 10-11 eyes. The tree is a 2-3 year old with 4 branches and is huge. I could not believe how good the tree looked. I would have thought it was a 4 year old. I am very satisfy with my purchase and can't wait until next fall to buy more trees. I will be getting all of my peonies from Pam, but you have to order quick because she sells out quick and now I see why.

I am very pleased with the friendly service and Tree Peonies I received from Tree Peony Garden. I was also happy they offered younger Tree Peonies at much more affordable prices than you typically have to pay for older Tree Peonies. Plus for purchasing 3 Tree Peonies I was suppose to get one free herbaceous peony and they send me three free peonies and they all look very healthy! Thank you Pam & Tree Peony Garden!

I ordered three plants from Pam, the co-owner of the nursery last fall. She was very knowledgeable and chatty. We talked for over 30 minutes about peonies. Although I did not get the cultivars that I preferred because I placed my order late, she recommended other ones and I was pleased to receive big plants with healthy root system, in addition to a bonus plant. This month, all the peonies have just leaved out and I can't wait to see them bloom. I would definitely buy from this nursery should I have more space for another peony (and there will always be space for plants)!

I ordered 'Lan Bao Shi' from Tree Peony Garden last fall, and I was very pleased with the healthy roots and branches that I received. In the spring, the plant was quick to leaf out, grew healthily, and produced two lovely blossoms. I am very pleased with Tree Peony Garden and will purchase from them again in the future.

I ordered two tree peonies from them. I received two very healthy plants, each having 4 branches (and buds), just in time for planting. Overall - a very good experience. I am really pleased and for sure will order more next fall. Valentina

Ordering from Tree Peony Garden was a fantastic experience last year. I found their website, which is very informative, and they offer many different varieties of tree peonies at great prices. I placed my order in the summer for fall delivery, and at one point I called because I had peony questions since I am new to them. The customer service was outstanding, can't say enough about how friendly and helpful and patiently all my questions were answered. My plant (Hua Hu Die) arrived when promised, much bigger than I had anticipated, along with detailed planting information. Now that spring is here, this tree peony has set 4 absolutely huge flower buds, and the plant is thriving and looking fantastic. If I ever need/want more tree peonies, I will certainly order from them again - without hesitation.
