I rather think you did not read through all the pages on my web page at:

--- where in the last pages you will read that I sell ONLY cuttings in the fall for YOU to refrigerate over winter and for YOU to root in the spring in your garden -- or earlier indoors.

It is definitely too late for this year as I sold cuttings in late November and early December of 2015 ---and I AGAIN will sell cuttings in late November and early December of 2016.

If you are interested -- I suggest that you get your order and payment to me by early September to assure access to varieties that are in short supply.

Hello Mr Salonius,
I just finally came upon your weblisting after having much trouble finding suppliers of grape vines in Canada. We are a small farm doing grape trials and would be super interested in getting some of your varieties. I did see that you sell by the bundle of variety. I would be interested in many different kinds, mostly for table grapes and also for some wine. I would be looking at putting in quite a few, probably 50 -100 for this year ( we put in quite a few last year from Voloaca -but they no longer seem to be in business), but would like quite some variety. Would you have recommendations and availabilities or do you consider it too late for this year?

I offer here to readers - My history with Dave's Garden --- during early 2010 when //after dutifully answering a customer's questions FOR MONTHS // I finally asked him to do some reading about grape growing on his own.

I did not post a rebuttal at the time because I was so shocked at the ingratitude and filthy language used by the customer -- that I decided not to bother ----however after getting another (unreasonable, I think) comment on Dave's Garden yesterday I decided to revisit the episode from 2010.

I leave it up to readers to judge whether my conduct was anything other than exemplary and whether they think that this customer's comment was posted on Apr 5, 2010 10:19 AM should be withdrawn from the record on Dave's Garden.

This is the second time in my years of selling cuttings that I have had a customer who demands unlimited personal attention and advice.

I am almost certain that the GDD ratings you have access on the internet are
based on temperature over 5C which is used for growing CORN.

The measurments we use for GRAPES are based on temperatures over 10C.

Try GOOGLING "Growing Degree Days" and do not stop looking until you understand
the paramenter.

I am astounded that you expect me to run personal tutorials for you about viticulture.

Hi Peter, I am doing some internet reasearching on "GROWING DEGREE DAYS" for the ontario region. I saw a map highlighting downtown Toronto all the way to Niagara escarpment indicating that this area recieves 3000-3800 Growing Degree Days. I then did another search on wikipedia and found that Belleville, Ontario was estimated at 2239 Growing Degree Days. I then compared these FINDINGS to the information YOU emailed me and the CONCLUSION was that the Growing Degree Days you estimated for the GTA are 1150....
THESE FINDINGS would indicate that there sufficient climate to grow ANY VINIFERA.
Why is everyone's information different?

It is possible that phyloxera eggs COULD be moved on cuttings from an infested area -- and this is why we have to heat treat material going into B.C. (a phyloxera free area) -- however most phyloxera movement thakes place with the trsport of soil where the root louse (phyloxera) spends most of its time.
