Posted on May 23, 2014, updated June 22, 2016 We ordered two of the P. Bissetti. Not only was their customer service super friendly and helpful, the plants were healthy and lovely when they arrived. To be honest we expected die off from transplant shock but too our amazement new culms just a week after transplant! It is a month later and a few more new culms, just wow. We will definitely be placing more orders with Bamboo Garden! You guys are truly top notch.

On June 22nd, 2016, jmikulecky added the following: I have purchased from them again, this time an order of ten #1 pots of several cultivars. They arrived in good health, well packaged. Thank You. I will be doing more business with them next year! Thank you Bamboo Garden for your concise quick communication and the care you take with your plants. Update on my first order, my P. Bissetti is thriving and really starting to take off! Wow. Good stuff.

I ordered a couple of the larger Fargesia Robusta ‘Cambell” from Bamboo Garden, they arrived packaged beautifully and in perfect condition. When I called to order, I wasn't sure which item we needed. They were super knowledgeable and helped me make the right choice. After the order was completed, he offered to let me call at any time if I had questions about bamboo! Have to give these guys an A+ for customer service.

I've ordered from Bamboo Garden a couple times, once a single plant and most recently 4 plants. Both times, the plants arrived surprisingly healthy and undamaged. Even being in the box for a week (I live on the opposite side of the country) didn't seem to phase the plants at all! Their packaging system keeps the plants moist for the whole trip, and secure without crushing any culms. They have always been polite and very helpful on the phone, and they are very helpful answering my many, many questions via email. I have also never had a plant from Bamboo Garden arrive with mites, they are always very healthy and pest free. The prices may seem a bit higher than their competitors sometimes, but you really do get what you pay for. I believe when I order from them, I am essentially guaranteed a healthy, vibrant plant. As soon as I get more space for more bamboos, I will be ordering from them again!

New to the world of Bamboo. I have to say the staff were excellent and friendly. I ordered a Phyllostachys Vivax Aureocalis and a Phyllostachys Nigra. Both plants were gorgeous. Unfortunately the Aureocalis arrived with broken culms. While still a beautiful plant, I called to see what could be done. They took care of the problem and were very pleasant while doing so. Would recommend them to ANYONE! Will

I ordered 10 one gallon plants in June. I talked to the company a couple of times, once with general questions and again to place the order. Both times the reps were very helpful and friendly. The price of the plants and shipping were much lower than any other online company that I researched. The plants were shipped during record high temps and drought conditions. It took exactly one week to ship across the US. I expected the pots to be completely dry and the plants in severe need of watering. The box looked like it had fallen from the back of the delivery truck. However, the plants were in great condition. Not one broken plant. The plants were securely taped to the box and hadn't budged during shipment. In addition, the pots were soaked with moisture. The pots were well packaged- they were covered with newspaper then wrapped in plastic, keeping in the moisture even in such extreme conditions. The description on their website states that one gallon pots have one to three canes and are 1.5 - 3 feet tall. However, most of the pots had many more canes. The "nuda" for instance had 12 canes all at least three feet high. Same with the vivax. All but a couple of pots had more canes with height much taller than described. The plants have been in the ground since June, and all are doing well, a few even put out new and taller shoots. Looking forward to seeing what they will do next year. Considering the great customer service, excellent quality of the plants, great packaging, and unbeatable price, I give a VERY positive rating to Bamboo Garden!

Posted on May 18, 2011, updated May 15, 2012 Could not have been a better experience. Got lots of advice before my large purchase, plants arrived within a week, they were packed securely and looked great. They've been in the ground for a few weeks now and have new shoots.

On May 15th, 2012, sarns added the following: One year later: My Fargesia robusta "Green Screen" and Fargesia denudata (10 of the former, 5 of the latter) are having their second Spring in the ground, and they look fabulous! The winter barely fazed them, and I have lots of new shoots. By the way, nobody can walk into my garden without commenting on the beauty of the Fargesia denudata: The weeping form is so gorgeous, and it makes a lovely wave with the slightest breeze. I'm so pleased with Bamboo Garden. I'm getting ready to make my next purchase from them--it's probably something I could get locally, but I am a total devotee and will wait the shipping time to get a plant from these exceptional growers.

About 2 weeks ago, I bought 3 fargesia rufa bamboos, 2 2-gallon and 1 5-gallon. All came carefully packed. The bamboos out of the box are in great shape from traveling from west to east coast, and clean and healthy. The 2-gallon bamboos are very good size and the 5-gallon is very big and tall. I am very satisfied with my bamboos. This is my 2nd purchase. I bought a green panda bamboo last year that the cold snowy winter of 2010-2011 almost killed. When I wrote Bamboo Garden an email with a picture on how to rescue it, I got a response the same day. Next time I want more bamboos, I will defintely buy from Bamboo Garden again. Thanks for beautiful bamboos and great customer service.

Fantastic company...super patient on the phone, very knowledgeable and helpful, super fast, careful shipping. I ordered a 3 gallon hardy Aureocaulis Aureosulcata and it was carefully packed and full length (about 8 feet!) in the box, as well as super hardy Fargesia NITIDA, big leaved Sasa ochidensis, and a lovely small Temple bamboo. All were green and thriving upon arrival. I conditioned them to my colder Zone 5b-6a by keeping them in a window in the garage, well watered...then transfer planted them to my bamboo raised bed. A month and a half later, they are thriving and green. I am so so so thrilled. You won't regret working with these folks or touring their lovely website. THANK YOU to Bamboo Garden!

I ordered Green Panda and got Green Screen. I immediately called the company and they discovered that they had mixed up two orders. They promised to send me the correct bamboo within a week. No need to send the other back. Great service. Great packaging for the bamboo.

If there was a rating higher than "positive" I'd give it. They are the primier experts in bamboo. I ordered 10 plants, they arrived professionally packages, healthy, large and are thriving in my western PA zone 6 area. On top of this, I've asked numerous detailed questions about different types of bamboo plants and the response has been phenomenal. I highly recommnend bamboogarden.com for your bamboo needs.

I placed an order with Bamboo Garden for several bamboos a little over a week ago. The order arrived today in perfect shape (excellent packaging) and great health. A discussion with a really nice and well manored guy from the nursery after receiving my order was extremely customer focused. I'll definitely order from them again. Kudos BG!

I found them to be very helpful - great customer service. I sent an email explaining what I wanted & what my growing conditions are, and they came back with several suggestions on varieties that would work well here. I confess I ignored their advice and went for the variety that looked so great in the pictures - phyllostachys nigra. It arrived in a very-well designed box, probably the best packaging I've ever seen in a mail-order plant, looking very healthy & happy. I've planted it in a (LARGE) container to keep its spreading tendencies under control, and so far it seems happy - will be interesting to see what it does in a few years when it should be trying to put out some taller growth. I'm thinking about ordering some more bamboo of a clumping variety in the fall or next spring. I'll definitely buy it from Bamboo Garden Nursery.

I have the pleasure of living about 20 minutes away from Bamboo Garden. It's wonderful to be able to go there and talk to their folks, and just wander through the bamboo groves and greenhouses. Very helpful, certainly recommend them in the NorthWest.

Bait & Switch?? I was pleased with, and ordered 15 of the Fargesia robusta described here: //www.bamboogarden.com/Fargesia%20robusta.html They responded: "We can fulfill your order but there are a few things I need to clarify about the plants we are currently supplying. We have Fargesia robusta 'Green Screen' //www.bamboogarden.com/Fargesia%20robusta%20Green%20Screen.html" They get points for being honest, but the attempt to fulfill a big sale with a substitute product is disturbing. If I wanted Green Screen, I would have ordered that in the first place.

Company representative comment on June 2, 2008:

On Jun 2, 2008 12:58 PM, Bamboo Garden Nursery added:

We simply told mailtome that the F. robusta would not be available for a few weeks, which we would be happy to reserve for him. Or, he could get the F. robusta Green Screen right away. To accuse us of bait and switch is preposterous. We have high standards of quality and make sure that plants we ship out are hardened off and ready to travel. If a customer has made a selection that is not ready to ship out, we contact them and provide an estimated time as to when the plant will be ready, or offer a similar plant as a substitution.

I've dealt with a few bamboo specialists over the last couple of years and this is the best. They have an excellent selection, fair prices, and exceptionally healthy plants. The roots were especially well developed which allows the bamboo to fill in quickly. We got great service and advice from Matt as well. This will be my one and only bamboo source from now on.

I can't say enough good things about Jed and his nursery. The people and informative and friendly. Their plants are healthy and well rooted. The shipping is bar none the best I've seen for live plants at reasonable rates. After placing about 10 orders with them they are by far my first choice for bamboo.

Anyone looking to purchase bamboo via mail-order your search is over. The people at The Bamboo Garden are more than helpful with assisting you with your bamboo selection, they even listened to me go on a long rant about what kind of bamboo I was looking for and how I planned to plant it and all without hanging up the phone! But what sold me the most was the fact that I ordered some black bamboo of the 'Hale' variety and when it arrived it was in great shape but just the standard variety black bamboo. When notified of this, Bamboo Garden nursery and the wonderful people who run it didn't hesitate to send me out the 'Hale' variety bamboo ASAP and told me that I could keep the other black bamboo they originally sent free of charge, they even suggested where and how I might plant it! You can feel assured when ordering from The Bamboo Garden that you are going to recieve healthy, top notch plants from friendly, professional people.

I've bought Bamboos from a bunch of suppliers, and bamboo garden Nursery is handsdown the best. The plants are huge, well established, and just gorgeous. The packaging is great and the e-mail contact was always timely. Thanks for being one of the good guys.

I purchased 2 Fargesias and 3 Phyllostachys species. All arrived healthy and in excellent condition. They even provided a courtesy call to let me know that my order had been shipped and to give me the tracking number. Also, they provide an incredible selection of bamboo at some of the cheapest prices out there. Shipping was a bit high, but that's because the plants were shipped from coast to coast. Will buy from them again if I find more room for boos!

My word, they know what they're doing. And offer a great selection. I've spoken with Ned in person and on the phone - the dude knows what he's talking about, and seemed eager to answer my questions. If you have the ability to visit their new facility, do not miss the opportunity - it's beautiful, and a fantastic day trip.
