i had ordered from Don and long time ago, i was going thru old emails and was curious to see if this company was still in business, I too never received my order. I had tried to contact Don but only heard from him once, now i know why thanks to the person that posted the fact that he passed away. It wasn't act of taking my money and splitting, I understand now. Sorry to hear he passed away. I did contact my bank and they gave me a refund for the amount that was charged to my card.

Posted on April 28, 2010, updated May 20, 2010 I just wanted to post that I have had a similar experience as the two Negative comments. However, Mr. Nuzzo responded to my first e-mail inquiry within an hour and was very apologetic about the delay in shipment and assured me my order was forthcoming. As the time for shipment has come and passed, I Googled Mr. Nuzzo's name and found this community, and then I found his Obituary. "Don Nuzzo of Poway, California, passed away suddenly on April 15th." I won't post the entire content as it can easily be found by Googling his name. There is no doubt it is the owner of gosucclent.com I would like to express my condolences to Mr. Nuzzo's family. I hope that the business he so loved continues in some fashion. I also hope that customers with pending orders are contacted in a timely manner so we know how our paid for purchases and awaited product shipments will be handled.


On May 20th, 2010, logan62 added the following: For those who have paid with a credit card and not received their shipments due to the death of the owner, please contact your credit card company. I called and told mine the circumstances. I had dates of all contacts with Mr. Nuzzo. I also had dates he estimated for my shipment, along with the date of his unfortunate passing. After I provided this information, they were able to refund my purchase by reversing the charges back to the websites' account. I am not sure how long this will be an option, as the handling of his estate will affect his business accounts. So contact your credit card company ASAP. Mine was Captial One and they gave me no trouble or delay in issuing the credit for me.

GoSucculent.com is no longer open, as the owner has passed away. This was mentioned in a previous review, but I guess people didn't read that. I was in the same position here as the last couple reviewers - I paid for an order that I never got and could not contact the company about it. That is because the owner had already passed away. If you try to go to the website now there is a message saying that they're closed and to contact them at dnuzzo@cox.net if you have an unfulfilled order. So folks, stop freaking out, calling your lawyers and such. There is a logical explanation for why you didn't get your plants.

I've ordered plants with this company in the past. They are usually slow in shipping items. I was pleased with the quality of plants (as well as communications with Don) that I received the first time. The second ordered..2 years ago was sent back because I paid additional for a larger size which did not measure up when I received it. Don was not pleased with me at all and was quite rude (very different from my first order). Well, I've been searching everywhere for Crassula Ovata "hummels sunset" and of course Don was the only one that had one. I decided to go against my instincts and ordered again on April 19. I knew they don't ship as fast as most companies so I wasn't worry about the delay until I read your feedback regarding his unexpected death..which is sad to hear. He had very unique plants and will be missed . I've filed a claim dispute with paypal as of yesterday 5/13/10 since the company voicemail was full and my emails was sent back undelivered. His website is still running and I hope no one else will make any orders as of now.

On April 14th I placed an order and was told it would ship in 10 days, well 10 days have come and gone. These plants were going to be get well and Mother's Day gifts. If they were not going to honor their shipping, they should let us know. I have asked for a refund and have nor received it, but they were sure quick to charge my credit card. I have sent 3 emails, NO response and even tried to call, but their mail box was full. I intend to contact the BBB, and I will be notifying my Credit card provider of the above. My suggestion is not to order from this company.

I placed an order in early March, but was told that the order wouldn't be shipped until the end of the month because they were "busy". That seemed a bit odd, especially as my credit card was charged immediately. In April I e-mailed them saying if the order wasn't going to ship soon, I wanted to cancel. They said "fine" with no explanation. My credit card hasn't yet been credited, but to be fair, its only been a couple of days. Still, the whole experience was weird and dissappointing and unprofessional.

I placed an order a few months ago and did not think at the time to post feedback for gosucculent. My order was expertly packaged, individualy wrapped and protected from the heat and being jostled during shipment. The plants were completely unscathed when I removed the packing material. I also received a handwritten note from Don to call or email him at any time with any questions that I might have, and he included complete growing tips and suggestions. I am happy to say all the plants survived and are now happily growing in my home. I will most definitely do business with gosucculent.com again.

I've ordered from GoSucculent twice in the past, and again last week, but didn't think to leave feedback here on GWD. GOSuc has some of the nicest succulents around. Prices are very fair.. Today I received a Crassula Pubescens..Although it's in a 3" pot, (a warning, on their site stated it would arrive small.) Growth is healthy and pest-Free. Plant was well-wrapped so it wouldn't bounce around while in transport. Several rings of newspaper were on top and below the plant.. Prices and shipping fees very reasonable..Toni

This was my first order, and I am more than satisfied. My dracena draco was on the larger end of the size range given (and already has a nice weathered-looking trunk starting) and the euphorbia (not sure of the variety, it was listed as unknown type) is larger than advertised. Prices and shipping are very reasonable and my order came in quickly and well-packed. Plus a great selection. I will be ordering from this company again.

I have been using GoSucculent.com exclusively for the past 4 years. My first order was when I discovered what an awesome nursery it IS! Perfect pkging, prompt delivery, Don D Nuzzo has to be the world's most charming, informative and obviously a Master, beyond Master Gardener in this field. They even sell Giant Sahuaro's !! Mind, they take up to 200+ years to grow, I live in Tucson, AZ, so I know. You could not PAY ME to say anything bad about this company, because there simply isn't anything to say but Great Things about them. I assure you, my and everyone's review of this company is completely accurate and if we sound a bit ga ga, it's because the Customer Service is second to none and the plant selection and QUALITY is a dream come true. Yes, GoSucculent.com sells the soil that they grow our beautiful plants in, and for a very resonable price. My last order included just 1 box and when it arrived, in perfect shape (not a leak to be found) I remembered I should've ordered 3! I'm always in agony if I have to go elsewhere (local) and try to fix up soil that's right for the succulents. I've given up on that! GoSucculent soil is the ONLY one to use, you don't have to do a thing to it, just start planting. I use containers, but I'm sure it's the perfect amendment to in ground planting as well. Be sure and check it out. I'm positive if you get just 1 box, you'll be a convert forever, just like I was (am)! I chose 4 echeveria's and 3 or more Aeoniums and what beauties they are! One might think I have enough, but I ask, how can you have too much of such a good thing? This time I remembered to order soil, 1 on the first order, and 2 on the second. Thank goodness, I'll have to go pot hunting again, sometime soon, as there are some crassula's I'm just dying to have. I may wait until the risk of frost has passed us by, if I'm able to resist temptation, not easy in this case! I keep this site bookmarked on my computer because I always want to get there as fast as possible. There's always something I need to look up, even if it's just how to spell Latin correctly. My garden club buddies have taken to it like fish to water and could not be happier. The Aeonium Swartzkoph that was in my very first order, back in 2004-5, is continuing to amaze me. I thought it had really done well this spring summer, shooting up a foot and the rosette becoming much larger. WELL! I just looked at it this morning, and suddenly the nearly black rosette is like a dinner plate, with 5 new shoots coming up in that pot. As nothing has ever been in there with it, I can only imagine it's brand new baby Aeonium's!! All my A's, plus Crassula's are doing fabulous, and the echeveria's, well to say the same would be putting it mildly, they're all clumping now = putting out offshoots, too exciting. It's wonderful to get such healthy plants to start with, that with so little effort, one can see my results. Now that the weather temps are dropping, I must WARN YOU, no matter how dry they look, if it's going to freeze, DO NOT WATER!!! It will kill them sure, I know, because I thought mine really needed it, about 2 years ago, and even tho I triple covered them, I still lost 1/2 my collection, totally my own ignorance! I lost my beautimus A=UNamed D, get one, their unbelievable and back in stock now!! Also check out the echeveria dondo hybrid, comes with double heads, not to mention to derombergia (sp) beautiful, loves to offset, also! Special sale of the Crassula Perforata, with 2 large for $8.00, I think, don't quote my on the price, but for two huge ones of that beautie, tis a bargain! Like hearts on a string! Well, just wanted to update on my garden growing like I'm the Master Gardener, when we all know that it's Don D Nuzzo who masterly grows all these gorgeous plants, that make us look SO DANG GOOD!! I received my plants today and am so happy. I got an assortment of jades, and every single plant is very healthy and beautiful. Don put a letter inside saying he was available to answer questions and offer help. That is so nice! The selection, quality and service can't be beat. Ordered in cold weather_____winter for me___ but order arrived without a hitch. Excellent packaging and care in handling. I was concerned about temperatures in the teens but it wasn't a problem. Talked directly to Don Nuzzo who enclosed his card in the box when it came. He included the comment he is always there to answer questions I might have in regard to the plants I ordered. Will not hesitate to order again. A good experience for 2007.

I had a bit of a problem with my Paypal acount when I placed my first order with Gosucculents just yesterday, June 12. I telephoned and spoke with Don Nuzzo at the phone number I foud on this web page. I believe Don owns the company. Within minutes he and I were chatting like old dear friends. This man astounded me with his cheerful imnformative personality. He resolved my payment problem for me and took personal charge of ensuring my plants would be shipped within a day or two. I sensed that he was very buzy when he confessed to me he just had a tooth pulled and was in pain. Nevertheless we must have talked about cacti for upwards of 15 minutes.It was I, in fact, who had to terminate the conversation. He invited me to call him anytime if I needed his advice or help or simply just to chat. I am duly impressed with Mr. Nuzzo and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Fockea Crispa plants from him.

I am very pleased with them. Since then I have ordered and received 10 more succulents and cacti from them. Each plant was fastidiously packaged with apparent TLC. They were all well rooted, mature and very beautiful. It was my lucky day when I encountered gosucculents.com. Mr. Nuzzo's outfit is far and away the best on line plant store I have ever done business with. I offer my most high recommendation.

Very nice people. I placed an order today but it turned out the succulents wouldn't survive in my area in the ground. So, I had to cancel. However, they really went out of their way to call and make some other recommendations and were very courteous and prompt. I'll keep them in mind if I ever move to a milder climate.

In March 2006 I ordered 3 exotic crassula (Jade plants) from gosucculent. I ordered online. They have a great website with accurate photos of the plants. I received my plants in a sturdy box and they looked very good. I potted them and they are growing new leaves and branches like crazy now. This was a very positive shopping experience for me and I will be doing business with this company again. I spoke with them on the phone and they were very nice. They also included an instructional sheet on how to care for your plants if you've not grown this type before. The plant prices are excellent, the shipping isn't cheap but the plants arrive very quickly and is worth it to me to make sure they don't languish in the mail.
