Tuscan Heights Lavender Gardens... I wasn't quite sure what to expect, after having visited the mammoth lavender farm near Mt. Shasta.. To my pleasant surprise, Tuscan Heights Lavender Gardens was no less than just a fantastic and amazingly beautiful discovery! Ya know, sometimes bigger isn't always better! Right out of a fairytale story book, this cute little lavender garden's fields in bloom were like a dream come true! All of the beautiful colors of lavender flowers, from the nearly 200 varieties of lavender, that the gardener owners are growing, plus all of the other beautiful plants they have growing all around the grounds, were just a spectacular site to see!! In the center of the growing circle, is this picturesque, hand built cedar gazebo that had been draped with green, lavender, and white tulle. It looked like they had just had a romantic wedding. In fact, they owners put the tulle up for the customers to enjoy. The gazebo sets such a romantic touch to the rest of the gardens. There is this really nice, constant breeze flowing through the gardens, I could have sat in that gazebo for hours! The gazebo is where the owners serve their visitors with ice cold lavender lemonade, lavender iced tea, and a variety of baked goodie’s made with lavender. What an clever and attentive touch to customer service! The owners tell me the reason behind the treats in the gazebo are to let the customer know how much they are appreciated for driving up to visit the gardens! How great is that? Tuscan Heights also has a really cute little gift shop where the owners sell all of their truly creative, handcrafted bath & body spa products, culinary spices, lavender tea’s, and several other gift items. Yes, they MAKE their products! The owner does it herself. They don't have their products made in some warehouse or in a factory, like a lot of other lavender farms do. Most everything in the gift shop, they make themselves! They even make the labels on their home computer! They also steam distill their own oil, right on the farm! I LOVE THAT! You know your getting fresh product when you can actually see where it is made! In addition to the beautiful lavender gardens, herb and edible flower gardens, Tuscan Heights also has a HUGE greenhouse and cold frame where they propagate and sell several of the varieties of lavender plants that they grow. The owners at the Tuscan Heights Gardens have made visiting their beautiful lavender and herb gardens so user friendly, that even the wheelchair bound have the ability to maneuver with minimal assistance. When my mother and I made the trek (and I mean the long haul) up to the farm near Mt. Shasta, I had to leave my mother in the car upon arrival. There was no way she could have walked around the farm. The steepness of the slopes and huge rocks on the rocky walk ways, my mother surely would have injured herself in no time. I highly recommend, to ALL lavender lovers, to pay a visit to the Tuscan Heights Lavender Gardens! They are, by far, more beautiful and much more interesting than the mammoth farm near Mt. Shasta and your car wont get covered with ugly red dirt on your way to visit!
