Ordered 4 trees on Friday. They shipped on Monday and arrived Tuesday 6/23/15. They arrived in 3 gallon pots. All 4 plants are healthy and in a growing state upon arrival. Thank you Pine Island Nursery at tropicalfruitnursery.com

Overal a very positive experience. Unfortunately, I do feel the need to bring up one issue. I had to drive down to Miami area for another reason and thought it would be best for me to pick up my trees personally. When I arrived the location and drive are beautiful and reminded me slightly of driving up to recuca coffee farm/tour in Colombia. Both the gentelman and young Lady who assisted me pretty much ignored when I spoke and spoke just enough to complete the transaction. They didn't appear to have record of my order, though I had an email confirmation, stating I would arrive that day to pick up. The young Lady was very tired from working in the garden. Having said all that all email communications were terrific and the Cogshal-Mango, Red Lady-Papaya, and Cherry of Rio all look to be in really good shape and they bagged them for me and I do intend to order more and possibly many more items from them. I would say that if you order online or by phone and have delivered I think you should do great with them.

Ordered a Mango 'Nam Doc Mai' and a Lychee 'Sweetheart'. They informed me when I ordered that they only ship on Mondays. They emailed a tracking number on Friday, the trees shipped on Monday and arrived at my door on Tuesday. Emails are answered promptly. Packaging was exceptional. These were 3 gallon pots and the trees were about 4 ft. tall. Pots were wrapped in plastic so no soil would spill out. In addition they used a wooden 1x 2 frame to secure the pots so even if the box had been turned upside down they would not shift. Very pleased with the whole order.

I ordered two plants from them last fall, a Pickering mango and a Makok sapodilla. Both arrived Wonderfully packed and looked really healthy. (I live in NY, so the fact that they managed to ship it that well is amazing!) However, I lost the Makok over the winter, I don't know why as my Meyer lemon (not from PIN) and Pickering survived under identical conditions. However, it's probably my fault. The Pickering is now blooming! Proof that they really sell a worthy product.

Ordered 4 tropical trees. They were helpful on the phone and told me they'd arrive on Wednesday. Sure enough, they came on Wednesday. They were packed well and looked really healthy with no signs of shock. I would definitely order from them again.

This was my third trip to Pine Island Nursery, so obviously, they must be doing something right. They have an extensive collection of tropical and subtropical fruit trees, always healthy and a good price for the size. When you arrive, and check in at the office, they'll call someone to come with a golf cart (believe me it's necessary, this place is HUGE) to help you pick out your plants. Everyone is extremely courteous and helpful, and, with the exception of a mango I lost to the hard freezes last year, everything I've acquired from them has thrived. I haven't mail-ordered from them, as I'm fortunate to live close enough to make the occasional trip, but their website is chock full of information, and I always use it to make up my list ahead of time. If you're in the market for exotic fruit, this should definitely be one of the first places you consider.

Very professional and polite staff. I emailed them several times about my order and received rapid, courteous replies. My first order consisted of a Carrie mango, a Brewster lychee, a white Sapote and a wax jambu. It's scheduled to ship as soon as temperatures warm up along the transit path. Overall a pleasant experience..I'll update when I receive my order.

This was only my second experience ordering plants online, which is something I'm still slightly skittish about. So far I have no disappointments however. Before ordering from Pine Island, I had a few specific questions about a plant, and they were quick, clear, and professional in answering those questions. Ordering was easy, and efficient. I ordered a cinnamon tree from them, and the tree arrived in 2 days. The packaging was sturdy and nicely insulated, and the tree is quite handsome indeed. I had a few additional questions about proper care, and the individual who handled my initial order took care to let me know who specifically to speak with at the nursery. Great quality, shipping, and customer service. Due to my own space limitations, I don't know if I will order again soon, but to anyone else considering it, they do seem to be an excellent company. For anyone with an interest in tropical and subtropical fruit, they are the first place I'd investigate.

I've been steadily buying two trees by monthly from Pine Island for a while now. This is the only nursery (and I've dealt with many) that tells you one thing and does it. If anything, the plants might be a day earlier than expected, but never late. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable & they reply to emailed questions promptly. One tip for those of you ordering via mail: the S&H charges are the same wether you order one plant or two ($37.50 to date) so try to order in 2s, it will save you money. Lastly, if you like their plant quality (and who doesn't?) have a list of the varieties that do best in your area in your wallet. Why? Lowes buys from them quite often (you will see the PIN initials on the plant's tag) and just today I was able to find another of their wonderful Lady Red dwarf papayas there. I saved myself the S&H charges. The only way to do this properly is by knowing what varieties do best in your area as the big box stores seem to buy randomly (I've seen several varieties that are meant for South Florida). Either way, if you buy from PIN you simply can't go wrong.

While on vacation in Miami, we stopped by Pine Island and took a tour. The people there were very hospitable and we enjoyed getting to see all of the beautiful plants they have there. We purchased a Dragon Fruit cactus and Jack Fruit tree. Both are alive and doing very well. While driving down SW 184th Street to get there we saw several huge Florida avacado trees loaded with fruit. We picked a few of them and ate them when we got back to Houston. We also planted the seeds and have a pretty good size Florida avacado tree growing.

Because I live locally, I visited the nursery on 27 May 2008 and purchased a Jaboticaba. The staff members were courteous and knowledgeable and I received excellent information about planting and caring for my beautiful and healthy young tree.

I purchased two lychee trees from Pine Island Nursery. In my ten year's experience of purchasing numerous products via mail order, I have never seen anything that was packed so well. The delivery was sent via DHL which also improved the handling factor. The customer service was outstanding. Please check their web page when looking for exotic tropical fruit. I will shop here again because of their loyalty to their customers!

I called them and I wanted to order some plants. I was amazed that he said he will start shippping in early march due to possible "rerouting" of the packages in colder weather. Any company who tells me this (possiblity of losing money), wanting to save me from having frost-bitten plants is a good company. I am going to order in March. I know i have not puchased from them, but I thought people here would want to know my personal experience with them.

New home, new trees in Southwest Miami. The Pine Island Nursery's website is amazing and very, very helpful; we were able to educate ourselves about what type of fruit tree we may plant before we set out to view and purchase them. The staff is wonderful. When we arrived they took us out into the nursery to choose our trees. The gentleman gave us great advice on the type of trees we were purchasing and how to plant and care for our trees. We got our trees on August 1st, 2007. The trees are doing amazing! We purchased three different types of Mangos, the miracle mango (a miracle tree it is!); Mallika, and Glenn; a Simmonds Avocado; three papayas, and one Meyer Lemon. In only one month we see little mangoes forming and lots of flowering on the Miracle Mango; growth everyday on the other trees and have already enjoyed one Meyer Lemon that was getting too heavy for the little branch it was on. I highly recommend anyone purchasing fruit trees to visit the website and visit in person (if possible) the PIN; their trees are like a part of their family and they know each tree well and are extremely knowledgable and helpful. All of their trees are very healthy and they have a great selection to choose from.

I have purchased Lancetilla, Carrie & Cogshall Mangos, Ruby Red Guava and Black Gold Jakfruit from Pine Island. This nursery is wonderful. I am able to research on my own through their website and then when I call them they give me personalized service - including recommendations on the best trees for my location. The shipping costs may seem high, but the trees are well packaged and make it through delivery with no damage. If you have to purchase through mail-order I definitely recommend using Pine Island. If you are near enough to be able to purchase there in person I'm envious.

Their nursery is just awesome, the people there definitely takes care of their stock and it shows. I will definitely be back their again when I visit Miami again. They are also very fair with their pricing.

In an attempt to recreate something of her grandmothers garden, I ordered my wife some of Pine Islands 3 gallon Mulberry trees. The staff was wonderful and infomative via email, and our trees arrived a full day sooner than expected, hale and hearty. We had a cold snap immediately after their arrival, and the trees had to stay indoors for a week before planting. Two days after we got them planted, one of them was already flowering! My wife and I couldn't be happier. We will definately be ordring form them again

I highly recommend Pine Island Nursery for tropical fruit trees. I just received two Mango trees in perfect condition. I mailed in my order on a Monday and they were shipped the following Monday. These are quality trees shipped in their three gallon containers, not bareroot. Prices are excellent and customer service is the best. They have answered all questions I have asked promptly. I will order from them again.

On February 27th, 2005, sialia added the following: I ended up ordering four more trees from Pine Island Nursery: Jakfruit, Lychee, Miracle Fruit, and a Starfruit. My 'Cogshall' Mango hasn't grown at all- it looks exactly like it did the day I got it (it still looks very healthy though), but all the others have grown very well. The lychee has a couple of bloom spikes right now, the 'Ice Cream' mango has bloomed, and the Miracle Fruit is full of buds. I will definitely order from them again this summer.

I recently ordered two Mango trees from Pine Island Nursery. I was contacted right away with the shipping date and shipping costs. Much to my delight, I got my trees a day early (shipped Monday, got them Tuesday) and they are perfect, healthy specimens. Tha variety viewers on the website are wonderful! I will definately order from them again. Lisa

First of all, the website is spectacular. Being local I went there in person. What an experience! There are groves and groves of fruiting tropical plants. I approached an employee out in the open field. He immediately stopped what he was doing to help me. I was interested in purchasing a dwarf 'Ice cream' mango and a barbados cherry. He told me honestly that for south florida a 'Carrie' would be much better. He also picked out a Malphigia that was already in fruit and gave me basic instructions, all at a very reasonable price. Whenever I am looking to buy tropical fruits I wouldn't think of going to anyone else for two reasons, selection and customer satisfaction.

I had an excellent experience with Pine Island. Their web site is well organized and easy to use. They carry many tropical plants that I have had difficulty finding. I purchased Piper nigrum (black pepper) which was shipped in a 3 gallon container, Synsepalum dulcificum (miracle fruit) in a 3 gallon container, and Hylocereus guatemalensis (dragon fruit / pitaya) in a 1 gallon container. Their plant sizes are excellent, and the plants seem to be well cared for – the Piper (with multiple leads) is looped around a 3 foot trellis several times, and the Synsepalum is several feet tall and already in bud. They were responsive and helpful in both emails and phone calls. They shipped promptly and packed the plants perfectly. UPS was slow to deliver, but they certainly have no control over that. I’m confident that the plants will perk up in the next few days. Because they ship the plants in containers (not bare-root), shipping to New York is costly. However, they do *not* seem to be overcharging for shipping – there is just no cheap way to ship a 4 foot tall, 40 pound box from Florida to New York! This is one of the best mail-order experiences that I have had. I will undoubtedly do business with them again.

First purchase of fruit trees for a new home. All of the people here were very helpful and tolerant of many amateur questions. Erik delivered and installed the trees which now one year later are prospering and have doubled in size. Periodic questions and advice sought are answered quickly and completely. A very professional organization providing excellent service and post sale support. I will do business with this company in the future for SURE.
