I received a tiny barefoot Thunbergia, ( Orange Clockvine). The plant was sent on. Wednesday, so it arrived on Saturday, when the post office is not open. I picked it up Monday. It was extremely tiny, most leaves and the straggly roots were dry, and it had been bare rooted for some reason, absolutely ridiculous considering due to its very small size the shipping cost more than covered being sent in a pot with soil. I am very doubtful this plant will recover. I have carefully potted it and am hoping for the best. I contacted the nursery but they seem quite unconcerned. I will update this after I see how the plant reacts... For now I feel a negative is warranted but I am going with a neutral and trying to salvage the vine as I really want this plant. Rose

Ordered two Blue Glow Agave and 2 Shawii Agave. Order arrived quickly and an email was generated to let me know it was on the way. All four of the Agave were carefully and impressively wrapped, the 2 Blue Glow Agave were absolutely perfect and better than I had expected even being shipped, but again the wrap job was done so well. The two Shawii Agave were not in as great shape and once I emailed regarding the issue I was offered a refund as they didn't have any additional Shawii in stock as replacements. The quick response to my complaint and such professional packing of the live plants is a huge plus and I will certainly be ordering from this nursery again.

This is a tremendous place to order succulents. I live in WV but had visited CA and been in the Santa Barbara area where his nursery is located. Although we could not arrange a visit that worked with our travel schedule we spoke with the owner by phone in Santa Barbara. When I returned home I spoke with him again and discussed what I was interested in - mainly container size succulents due to our cold winter climate. He is extremely knowledgeable and was most helpful with lots of suggestions about what to order in the fall and to hold off for some until the spring shipping time for my zone. His suggestions were great. He shipped immediately and the plants arrived within a couple of days. They were packed well and arrived in great shape. I would definitely order again and would highly recommend him.

As an indoor gardener from New Jersey, I find Pisonia umbellifera Variegata to be an elusive plant, and it is rarely offered through the mail-order trade. When I was fortunate enough to find this plant in the past, I always received small rooted cuttings that I could never coax into growth, despite my best efforts. Therefore, I persevered, and I was glad to find good-sized plants of Pisonia umbellifera on the Trio Nursery website. I immediately thought that the size of the plant was "too good to be true." Or, this rare plant must be out-of-stock. So, rather doubtful, I sent Trio Nursery an e-mail asking about availablity. Trio Nursery immediately responded with photos of their Pisonia plants, and the plants were definitely in stock. I placed an order for 2 Pisonia umbellifera Variegata from Trio Nursery, and I received the plants right away. The healthy & beautiful plants arrived in a matter of days and in perfect condition. These are established big plants that quickly bounced back and are sprouting new leaf growth. I thank Trio Nursery for helping me in my quest for the Holy Grail of all plants--Pisonia umbellifera Variegata. Ordered glossy abelia grandiflora 'Kaleidoscope' I have been so pleased with how they do business. I am impressed with the variety of available selection, speed of delivery, and health of the plants. On a google search for "kaleidoscope abelia grandiflora for sale" or "glossy kaleidoscope abelia for sale" they were the only mail order nursery I could find to offer a smaller than 3gall pot and for under $12 most are about $30-50. I'm so happy that I found this nursery. I will be ordering from them again in the future.

I purchased as a birthday present for my 87 year old Father, 3 Geranium plants through the website, with postage to Perth Australia, the plants arrived well packed although a little yellow due to no light for a few days. To be expected. The plants are now thriving with one about to flower. Thank you so much for your prompt service and email replies. I will purchase from your site again.

Ordered a night blooming jasmine plant. Plant arrived on time, and was in excellent condition. Directions were included as to how/when to plant..very easy to follow. As this was my very first purchase from Dave's, and it's only been a couple of weeks since my jasmine plant arrived, I will say I'm highly impressed and satisfied with the service and product so far. Just have to wait to see if my lack of a green thumb will still allow the plant to grow! I will be doing future business with Dave's Garden (Trio), and highly recommend them.

The ordering process was easy and my order was handled quickly. I got a personal email from someone at the company thanking me for my business. But most importantly my plants arrived well wrapped and in great shape even though I am in zone 10 - which is not exactly forgiving during the summer months. I ordered two kinds of geraniums (Renee's Blush/Shannon's Passion) which were all clearly labeled and all the plants have flowers on them. They also enclosed some information about the plants which I found very helpful.

I placed an order for fancy leaf pelargoniums based in part on the very positive reviews here on Dave's Garden - especially as several reviewers mentioned they received very large, substantial plants. Because of this, I didn't bat an eye at the fact that each plant was individually priced at $10.95 and in one case $12.95, as I was looking for good size fancy leafs to spruce up some container plantings for the summer. One pays more for instant gratification after all. Everything arrived in good shape, but I have to say that I was rather surprised that the plants I received were actually quite small. The most expensive ones (of course) didn't even have branches yet, so visually they look like rooted cuttings. The plants seem to have good root systems, but given the price, I was expecting something closer to a full size plant. I did contact the nursery to give them some feedback (and suggest they be clearer in the online descriptions about what they will be sending out) and received a quick response that the fancy leafs I ordered are "dwarf/compact growers" and that "they are extremely difficult to propagate." I am aware that the ease (or lack thereof) of propagation is reflected in cost, and I did notice that they were described as "compact" in their descriptions. To me that refers to how they can be expected to perform in the future - not necessarily what to expect to receive from the nursery. I suspect the other reviewers who praised the large size plants they received must not have been ordering geraniums from Trio (they do specialize in drought tolerant plants), so I wanted to add to the comments here that the fancy leaf geraniums are quite small.

I have purchased a French hybrid clivia miniata from Trio Nursery. I received the next day an email confirmation from Kip Omweg with the shipping tracking info. The clivia arrived yesterday. It is a healthy mature plant with 16 leaves and very strong roots. I am very pleased with my purchase and the service provided by Trio Nursery.

I wanted to give a Pride of Madeira to a friend as both a birthday gift and a reminder of our trip to San Francisco and the coast. She lives in Atlanta, GA. Internet searches were not providing a lot of information about the plant beyond it's origins and hardiness zones. I wanted to know if it could be grown--survive--in a colder more humid area. I looked for nurseries around San Francisco, most were large chain-type stores; this one seemed like it was a smaller, maybe family, operation. The gentleman I spoke with was not only delightful and willing to put up with what I know were silly questions, but he also was very helpful. I can't speak to the quality of the plant because I don't live in Georgia and I haven't seen it. And, since it only arrived last week, I don't know how well it will grow. (He suggested that it be container grown, cut-back and brought in to overwinter.) There's also the variable of how well my friend will manage it, which will be part of whether it succeeds or not. If I remember, I'll update this next year. Regardless, based on his attitude, customer service and advice--and that the plant shipped and tracked exactly as he said--I would highly recommend them.

Excellent...I called Kip to make an order for Aloe leaves at 8:30 am and by 1:30 pm same day I had the shipping confirmation and tracking # of my leaves. I am very excited and can't wait for their arrival. Kip is such a pleasant man to work with.

When I had some difficulty with placing an order on-line and called Kip Omweg to get help, he very graciously helped me solve the problem and said that he will expedite the order, although my difficulties could in no way be attributed to something he has done. This week I received a very nice plant order. Aeonium 'Sunburst', Agava victoria -regina and Opuntia 'Joseph's Coat' pads. All were in excellent shape when received and very good sized plants. I'll definitely order again.

I live on the east coast, called them on the west coast and asked Kip if he would go to San Marcos growers and purchase and ship me a plant. This was the first time purchasing anything from them. I now have a big beautiful, rare fuchsia that some people are bidding up in the hundreds for on ebay for a rooted cutting. Communication was outstanding. Price was outstanding. Never thought I would own one. He has my business!
