In early June, I visited www.daylilyhaven.com and decided to place an order of irises. I printed off a copy of the order form and followed the instructions to the letter: I made sure to meet the $35 minimum order, added on the correct shipping charges, and wrote the check out to Nina Morgan. I mailed out the order and check. In mid July, I received a letter from Nina Morgan. Enclosed was my check, uncashed. The letter was a printout of an email, addressed to someone I had never heard of. Below her letter I could see the email she was replying to, which reads as follows: "Again I am asking where my order of 4 daylilies is. I don't have an order #, because you never responded to my order, but I sent you money for them. Please advise." It was signed by a woman in TN, who included her email and mailing address. To this note, Nina had responded as follows (sic): "I am returning your check, don't see an order to go with your check. You did not mail a list with your check and you did not follow instructions and even made the check out to Daylily Haven Iris Gardens which clearly states who to mail it to. I do not have a clue what your 4 items are that you ordered and don't have a clue the frt. you paid. All orders are placed in a file when received. No order here, don't do anything from memory, don't take take orders by phone, do verify if I have them. I have your envelope and check and that is it. Also you did not read that my minimum order is $40.00 + shipping fee. My frt is $14.00 + .50 cents fee which would be $16.00 shipping total. You sent a check total of $48.50. I don't do order numbers but I do pay a lot for a nice website with full instructions. Looks like you ordered from the old site with incorrect shipping for 2010, still would not have covered minimum order to ship. My new site is www.daylilyhavengardens.com. We probably could have worked this out for you to get what you wanted and I am sorry, I have never had such a demanding order as yours, your check is being returned today. Nina Morgan" The amount of the check was the amount I had written, which covered the prices and shipping costs and met the minimum order on the site I had viewed. That site made no mention of being outdated, or that costs may have gone up. However my check was clearly made out to Nina Morgan, so I don't know what check she was referring to in her letter. She had made no effort to contact me to tell me of my ordering errors, and I had not contacted her either, believing everything was fine. This angry ranting letter addressed to somebody elese and accusing them of being demanding was the only contact she made with me. Obviously she has mixed my iris order with someone else's daylily order, and canceled my order instead of letting me know more money was needed. When I went to her website to find more information, I reached a page telling me the domain name was expired and pending renewal or deletion. I followed the new link Nina had provided in her letter and saw that iris shipping had ended June 30th. I can't reorder from her even if I wanted to, and judging by how she handled this mixup she created, I really don't want to deal with her ever again.

Nina will hold your checks hostage if unable to fill your order. You must send a self addressed envelope to her to get it back. I did as she asked, and I'm still waiting for one I sent last July. On more than one occasion she has sent nasty emails shifting blame and saying it will not be returned until Spring 2010 when she opens again. Although she said in email she is very generous, I have yet to see anything but bitterness and she forms grudges against you if you question her. Other suppliers go the extra mile providing a pleasant experience regarding correspondence and customer service. Not so with this person. (Fortunately, this is the only negative dealing I've had from any vendor ever!)

This was my first order of beareded iris. After researching which varieties might stand up to Louisiana heat and humidity, I researched who had what I wanted and placed good-size orders with five different companies who were highly rated here. I have received all the orders now, and I can say without hesitation that Daylily Haven & Iris Gardens offers a great selection of bearded iris that will perform well in Southern climates. Also, Nina is very giving with her advice on which iris would be good selections for your area (if you call or write when it's not digging time!). I received healthy, clean, well labeled rhizomes... though the packaging could be improved. Other vendors sent their rhizomes in shredded newspaper, which allowed the rhizomes to stay dry. Nina's arrived wrapped in full sheets of paper and some of them were damp and beginning to mildew... apparently having absorbed humidity along the way to my house. Of course, in a less humid environment, this would not be an issue at all. One other area of improvement would be in keeping up with what's being sent versus what was ordered. Several of my rhizomes were accidentally included in someone else's order. Nina included a note stating this, but did not offer a refund for these or state when she would be sending these to me. Also, two rhizomes were left out and not mentioned in the communication at all. I will be writing to Nina to find out what to do about these. On the positive, Nina sent some lovely bonus selections, for which I am very grately. Overall, I found Nina's excellent selection and price to far outweigh any glitches I encountered. I am happy with my experience and will definitely order from Daylily Haven & Iris Garden in the future.

On August 1st, 2008, BlissfulGarden added the following: I received an email back from Nina (just sent one to her last night) addressing the missing rhizomes. She is sending me a refund for the rhizomes that were accidentally sent to someone else and also for those which were not ready for sale (too small, attacked by rodents, etc.) The fourth missing rhizome I had apparently placed on my "wish" list rather than on my order list... so that was MY mistake!!! Excellent response time and very reasonable resolution to the situation. My rating is still positive. :)

I am very pleased with my daylily order. The plants are large, clearly labeled, and look healthy. Communication was excellent, and Nina emailed when the plants were shipped. Previously, I had ordered irises from her, which were also wonderful. After that positive experience, I knew her daylilies would also be great. I will definitely be ordering more from Daylily Haven Iris Gardens.

I bought from Nina last year.........and it was a GOOD experience. She communicated well with me (as busy as she was) via e-mail. I received labeled, freshly dug, good sized plants from her. She worked with me well. I would surely buy from her again.

On May 21st, 2008, Margiempv changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following: Currently I'm changing my comments to neutral. Now that they are beginning to bloom I see I have received at least one misnamed variety. I've just sent off an e-mail to see how this will be handled and if this will be remedied. I'll let you know the results. I have hopes that this will continue to be a GOOD experience.
On June 3rd, 2008, Margiempv changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following: After waiting for over 10 days, Nina still had not responded to my e-mail, so I e-mailed her again. She did answer! however.......She (not so nicely) told me it was "daylily season not iris ". She did not offer a refund. She said she sent and thought I would like "Burning Oak" instead of the one I ordered (because the other had smaller rhizomes). AND now she wants ME to pay out of my own pocket to send the wrong iris she purposely sent me - back to her if I want "Bronzette Star". Her response was news to me, because she labeled it "Bronzette Star" (not "Burning Oak") and never told me what she did. On the order form - - I wrote no substitutions. I told her I did not agree with paying shipping expenses to send it back when it was not my mistake, but that I would pay for it anyway. I believe this is the first time I've ever had to pay shipping costs to send something back to a company for a mistake the business PURPOSELY made (and PURPOSELY labeled wrong) assuming I would like something else better. Sadly, I have no way of knowing if she'll send me the right now this time. Others that I ordered from her last year did not bloom this year, so I'm now wondering if they are wrong too. If this transaction changes for the good - - I'll change the rating. I believe in giving 2nd and 3rd chances.
On June 3rd, 2008, Margiempv changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: Update: Nina has kindly offered to reimburse the shipping cost on the return of this iris. We are currently e-mailing each other back and forth now in hopes of working this out. I'm thinking this may have a happy ending for both of us. :-) I'll keep you posted.

I had a *great* experience with Daylily Haven earlier this year. I ordered some irises for my new place, and they arrived on time, packed well, along with several extras. I would gladly do business with them again (if only my gardens were bigger!!) Can't wait to see the irises bloom this spring!

I have ordered from Nina Morgan for over 5 years and have NEVER had anything but beautiful, large, clean plants. The one time that she was unable to provide one of the plants ,I received a refund AND two bonus plants FREE. I have never had any trouble contacting her either by phone or e-mail. She is knowledgeable about her products and fair in her treatment of customers.

A very pleasant transaction. I found Ms. Morgan to be very pleasant to deal with-- responsive to my concerns/emails and a provider of very nice plants, particularly for the prices paid. The bonus was a very nice cultivar. The package contained a handwritten packing list, and thank you. I wouldn't hesitate to order from her again.

I placed an order with Mrs. Morgan in June 2007, and sent her a check. I had made the check out to Daylily Haven (my error). Mrs. Morgan would not cash my check. I asked her to return it so that I could send her another one made out to her personally, as she requested. I did not receive my original check back. I sent her three e-mails, and got no answer from her. I called her telephone number 5 or 6 times before I finally was able to get in touch with her. She said she had sent the original check back, but I have not received it, as of August 10. I sent her a second check and she sent me most of the daylilies that I ordered. Upon opening the box and sorting out the daylilies, I discovered two were missing from my order: 1) Elegantissima and 2) Vintage Bordeaux. I sent her an e-mail advising her of this. She replied that her husband had put money in the box refunding me the cost of Elegantissima, and that she had sent Vintage Bordeaux in the box. I wrote her back, telling her that I had received no money in the box and no Vintage Bordeaux. I have yet to hear from her. I am of the opinion that enough time has gone by that I should have received either the missing daylilies or a refund. While her plants were nice, fresh and clean, I would never purchase anything else from her. I am minus two plants that I paid for, and at this writing, it appears that I have no prospect of replacement.

Just received an order from Nina and was VERY impressed. The plants were generous size, clean and very well packed and shipped. She also sent several bonus plants that looked just as nice as the plants I paid for and were beautiful varieties. I will definitely be a repeat customer! The prices are also really great!!! Amy
