I placed my first order with Pine Ridge last month. This is the only mail order nursery I could find that offered prickly ash. I decided on the 1-quart size, and I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the plants when they arrived. I was also pleased with how well the plants were packed. All too often I have received plants from other nurseries damaged in the mail. I'm recommending Pine Ridge to my friends.

I cannot say enough good about this company. I've purchased from them three times in the last year and will definitely be buying more in the future. I initially went to them for pawpaws. While there, discovered that they had service berries. Saw several things I had never seen before, including Southern Wax Myrtle. I went back a month later and all but cleaned them out of the Myrtles, since I had decided to put in a long hedge of them. The last of the Myrtles went in two days before the first snow, as it happened. All but a few survived a very cold winter with no time to get acclimated. The pawpaws look great, and the service berries came through just fine. Once I tasted the service berries, I went back this spring and got more, and some more Myrtles to replace the few killed in the winter. They also introduced me to choke berry, which I think will be another great addition to the garden. Every time I've been there I've seen something new and interesting. All of the plants have performed as described. This last trip I came back with a dwarf aromatic sumac, and I'm now debating planting an entire roadside slope in them to save me having to trim it all the time. I have emailed them and always gotten good answers to questions. They're incredibly knowledgeable about their plants and happy to give pointers or suggestions. I would never hesitate to do business with these fine folks.

Posted on July 30, 2009, updated March 31, 2011 This spring was my first order with Pine Ridge Gardens. I ordered 1 shrub and 1 vine. When they didn't arrive right away, I contacted the owner and was told she wasn't happy with the size of the plants and she wanted to wait until they were satisfactory before mailing. Since I wasn't in any hurry, I said fine. I called again several weeks later to check and the owner said she would be happy to refund my money if I did not wish to continue waiting. She remembered me and was willing to do whichever I wished. So I kept the order open, and when the plants arrived, they were definitely worth the wait! When she says she only wants to send out good quality plants, she means it. I will definitely order from them again! You get very good quality at a very reasonable price.

On March 31st, 2011, Joylucile added the following: This spring 2011, I ordered more shrubs and trees. I can't say enough good things about this nursery. If you are looking for a good selection of native plants, be sure to get their entertaining and helpful catalog. Their packaging is outstanding in addition to the outstanding quality and prices.

My 5 1/2 wooded acres were devastated by Hurricane Katrina last August - the clean up and restoration has been overwhelming! Last fall and again this fall, I ordered several times from Pine Ridge Gardens, and I've always been delighted! I believe Mary Ann's trees are bigger even than the ones I get from another mail-order nursery that specializes in natives, and they're always well-packed, moist, vigorous plants! This nursery is absolutely fantastic!

I ordered 4 Jewelweed plants 5/04 which were sent very quickly. However, they did not make it and the owner went beyond the call of duty to make it right. Would definitely recommend this nursery.

EXCELLENT service, price, and plant quality. I am very pleased with all aspects of my dealings with Mary Ann and her company. Emails answered at warp speed and that personal touch you like to see... like a good description of what you are buying that is accurate to what you receive. Well boxed and tracking #'s supplied . The shipping price was a bit high in comparison to the plant/ box size/ weight but that was probably because fact that the plants were so inexpensive making the proportion (%) seemed high compared to the plant price but not too bad and with the excellent packing and shipping service well worth it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.. David

I found them to be very professional and friendly. My order was processed and shipped exactly as promised. I ordered an Amelanchier canadensis. The tree arrived healthy and ready to plant. I will update my review next year once the tree has had a chance to grow.

I wish to second all the praise above. I have dealt with Mary Ann King for 5 years, visiting her nursery several times a season, and have always found her wonderfully expert and helpful and her plants always, always thrive. Often when I'm paying for my purchases she'll tuck in some free "good customer" plants. She is particularly knowledgeable about plant/bug interactions so if you want to encourage beneficial insects she'll know just what you need. Please visit her website; it's wonderful and full of personality!

I was very impressed when I visited during Pine Ridge Garden's open house June 5. It is tough to find except for the handy little signs that led us from the London, Ark., exit off I-40 to Pine Ridge, and the road becomes rustic, shall we say? However, once you get there, the operation is nicely laid out, though not fancy. Mary Ann King remembered the e-mail I sent telling her I would like to visit. She easily guided us to specimens that fit the hardiness zone of our home. The plants are great. I will have no problem ordering from the catalogue.

Love this place!! My first order this year arrived in great condition. They are packing pros along with great growers! Shipping dates were honored and I received a complimentary plant new to their nursery--bloomed already and ALL plants are doing great. Have just e-mailed them a second order-they contacted me barely 24 hrs later and informed me my plants were on their way! Have no doubts I'll be just as pleased with this transaction. Trust them!!

Mary Ann King is a wonderful asset to the gardening community. She fills a hard to fill void for butterfly, hummingbird, and wildlife gardeners like myself. I find things I cannot get anywhere else but at Pine Ridge. And the customer service is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. I just LOVE this nursery. I have only used her for mail order, but hope some day to visit her nursery in person. I have placed multiple orders from her, and plan to place many more in the future. Every one of them has been first rate, and I have absolutely no complaints. Out of all of the places I order from, this is my favorite. She packs everything perfectly, ships on time, and you almost always find " a little something extra" in your box. She is just AWESOME !!!! THANKS MARYANN.... FOR EVERYTHING :) Texas Tatum

Outstanding packaging, service and reasonable shipping has made me into a big fan of Mary Ann King. I live in Queens NY and I ordered plants for the first time from Pine Ridge Gardens in October 2003. When the plants arrived I was absolutely delighted at the condition and packaging. In addition, I received plants that were larger than what was listed on the website and at no extra charge. I have ordered plants from many on-line sources including Forest Farm and St Lawerence Nurseries and I have to rate Pine Garden as among the best experience's that I have ever had. I look forward to buying from Pine Gardens again in the Spring of 2004.

On March 30th, 2004, AsterixnObelix added the following: I received my Spring shipment in the mail today and once again I am just delighted at the plants and the packaging.

If you are driving through Arkansas, stopping at this nursery is a wonderful time, so call ahead to see if she'll be available. Mary Ann is very knowledgeable--buy an umbrella magnolia.

I ordered from Pineridge because of the recommendations from garden watchdog and also the forum chats on garden web. I literally drove Mary Ann crazy because I didn't know what I was talking about in my quest to start a wildlife garden. She was without question - the most helpful, honest, informed and patient person I ever met. She was also true to her word and remembered to find info for me. I was not treated like a customer but a valued friend. Plants will arrive in April but I have no doubts they will be wonderful. Great prices, too.

On April 12th, 2003, DebbieJ1 added the following: Rec'd order on 4/11/03. I was amazed. Plants were packed so well and were so beautiful and healthy. I have never rec'd any order from any nursery that has even compared to this. So happy that I found this place !!

All I can say is GO there. You won't be sorry. It's about a 6 hour trip for me. I was in plant heaven. If you love natives...it is a "must see", or mail order from. I was amazed at all the natives this company has. The owner has very healthy plants, and is a delight to do business with. I will be a repeat customer! AAA+++
