I think I've seen every homesteading magazine ever created, and Back Home is the closest to perfect being put out today. This is not a purely gardening magazine, it's much more like the classic Mother Earth News that used to be -- they even have some of the original cartoonists and writers from the early MEN days. Besides the usual homestead articles like how to raise goats and how to build your own (insert thing to build here), the gardening information is very practical and useful. It's designed for those who want to be more self-sufficient, so they cover things like small cash crops for a farmer's market, medicinal herbs, kitchen gardens, crops for your animals, heirloom vegetables, seed saving and so on. Well written and highly recommended by this long-time homesteader.
