I have been to this nursery numerous times (just there last week), it's a great garden center. All of the plants I have purchased over the years are thriving. I am not sure why their website isn't working. If you live in the Bangor area of Maine it's definitely worth a visit. Oh and their prices can't be beat and super friendly owners!

Posted on March 3, 2008, updated April 9, 2015 Highly recommended. I've been gardening for 40 years, have ordered from many nurseries and this is one of the best. Not just primulas and woodlanders but excellent selection of alpines for rock gardens and troughs. Plants are of excellent quality and maturity (even if some are naturally very small alpines). Great to find a quality nursery so far north; grow their own plants, winter their plants outdoors and ship with good packaging and personal attention to detail. Also included excellent growing information on various primulas I ordered. Only discovered them last year but hope to order much more this year and in the future.

This is my second time ordering from Evermay. Plants arrived in perfect condition, prompt shipping, fantastic selection. Last years planting of primulas are flourishing. What a display! Good company to do business with. Thanks.

An extraordinary nursery. I ordered many alliums from this company to plant in my new garden and I was extremely pleased. All plants look extremely healthy, are larger than expected and were packaged extremely well. After placing the order online, I was surprised to receive an invoice and handwritten thank you note from Richard in the mail. I will definitely order from them again in the future.

Excellent service with a personal touch. Plants arrived promptly, were strong and well established. Packing was outstanding. Recommend highly. Eastern gardeners will benefit from information appropriate for the region.

I just received my first internet order from Evermay today, it only took one day UPS from Maine! I thought the packing was very creative and none of the plants were damaged in any way. Sizes varied somewhat, but all plants appeared near flowering sized except for the Meconopsis. Richard also included a gift Oxytropis I didn't have. The Primulas look especially healthy and I will look forward to their blooming. A positive ordering experience!

Just received my first order from Evermay: 5 ea. Galax urceolata and 5 ea. Sedum spathulifolium 'Harvest Moon'. The Galax are not so easy to find and Evermay's prices were by far the lowest I've found. The plants arrived when requested, perfectly packaged and in great health. I will definitely order from Evermay again. Excellent value.

I ordered some primulas last year and they arrived in great shape , this year they're in bloom and flourishing. This year I placed an order for some rock garden plants and they are beautifully grown. A word about the packaging, it is painstakingly done. No hassles with styrofoam and shredded newspaper. Great prices. Too bad he's out of stock already on some of the plants on my wish list. I highly recommend everymay. He does it right.

Just received my first order from this company and to say I am impressed is an understatement. After placing an order for 5 Hylomecon Japonicum (which were less than 1/3 the price of another mail order nursery) I received a hand written ( yes, hand written) note from Richard May telling me my order was in the works. Today I received a box with 5 fantastic sized quart pots each with a generous clump of just emerging shoots. For the price this is the absolute best looking mail order plant delivery I have ever received. Very reasonable shipping charges as well. I will absolutely go back. Thank you, Richard.

I highly, highly recommend Evermay Nursery. I placed an order with them this spring and was delighted with the quality of the plants that I received, the timeliness of the shipping, and Richard May's very personal customer service. They have some unusual items, everything that I received was of good size and good health, and they all bloomed wonderfully. What more could you want?

Absolutely incredible plants and service. We placed the order on Monday and had the plants in hand Wednesday morning. They were everything one could desire -- very, very carefully packed, moist soil, and fully rooted. Because it's a primula time of year, their cute yellow flowers were scattered about the yard, three days after placing the order.

Ordering online is easy. Received email order verification, plus snail mail verif. along with a handwritten note from Richard May thanking me for the order (not a particularly large one) and reminding me that the Gentiana sino-ornata I ordered requires acidic soil! Now that's personal service!

My first order came quickly, packaged very nicely, and all plants were healthy - very full and thick foliage - and potted nicely. Can't wait to see the plants come Spring time! Definitely will order again.

I visited Evermay Nursery today (by appointment only) and found Richard May to be very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. Lots and lots of interesting, rare, native, non-native, alpine and rock-garden plants - very healthy and well-tended. I bought several woodland plants and primulas (his specialty). I'm fortunate to live close by so I can call him up to stop in again - I'll be buying more from him for sure!

This is a wonderful nursery. Not only do that have a wide selection of plants found nowhere else, they are also very responsive. With my order I'd asked a few questions, and they mailed me a hand written note giving me advice on the plants I'd ordered. Later, when my plants arrived (Today), they were packaged perfectly and looked great. I often don't know what to expect from mail orders, and I'm hesitant to order much before I know a company. Now I know that this one is great, and I'm definitely going to order more.

On April 24th, 2009, Tigernach added the following: Ordered again this spring, and once again things were incredibly well packaged, and included a personal note from the owner with care suggestions for my area. Probably one of the best nurseries I've ever ordered from, and it's a shame that I live too far south to grow many of the great alpines they have!

I ordered two types of dianthus I had not been able to find anywhere else. The plants were very healthy and the packaging job was truly awesome...no shortcuts there! The only complaint I can come up with is that the order was one short, but not by mistake. They did not have the full number of plants to send. I will definitely order from this company again whenever I want dianthus.

I am just placing my order for the 3rd year in a row- This is a very dependable nursery for rock garden and speciality plants, primroses and such that do well in the north-east (yeah!!). The owner is knowledgeable and honest, the plant list is interesting and quite extensive. My orders have arrived quickly and in good shape. One thing that is great is that the tags are printed with short descriptions and care instructions on them, so when you are looking at your new plants wondering...hmmm.. what was this and where was I going to plant it, you are reminded without going back to the original descriptions! I like that. Anyway, a very positive rating from me.

I placed an order with this company for a blue poppy. I had seen it elsewhere, but didn't like the companies, so I found this one and thought I'd give it a shot. The owner quickly returned my e-mail, and offered to sell me some, but informed me that these plants generally only do well in the Pacific Northwest and the Northeast. Imagine how glad I was that I hadn't bought these expensive plants only to have them die in the Kentucky heat.If I had ordered from one of the huge companies that offer these, I would have surely been disappointed and out alot of money when they died. The owner lost this sale, but I will keep looking for something else he carries that will do well here.
