If you are lucky enough to be traveling through south-west Ohio ( or live in that area) and you love daylilies you MUST go the the Valley of the Daylilies farm. In 2013 we went to the farm and after seeing their stock, come home with over to 50 plants.(many $3-$6) It is the the ONLY place I go now to get my plants. The owner Dan is nice and knowledgeable. His flowers are beautiful! I wish you could see my flower garden. The flowers bloomed the first year, and by the second year they filled the garden. If you cant get to the farm, they will mail your order. Pictures of the flowers they have for sale is on their website.

I received my first order from Valley of the Daylilies today. I am happy to report that this has been a very positive first experience with this grower. I am very impressed with the size of the plants as well as their freshness. They look like they have just been dug. The foliage looks good enough to eat! Also in the box was a gift plant, which is a nice surprise. I will definitely be ordering more plants from Valley of the Daylilies in the years to come!

Earlier this summer I placed my 2nd or 3rd order with VOTD and was very pleased with the quality of the plants as well as the promptness of shipment and the communication. They rate extremely high in my book for daylily sellers. Super people!

Visited VOTD for the first time today. I have never been a huge dl fan, but it's hard not to leave one from VOTD. First, their website can't even start to show how large of a nursery this is. Beds and beds of dls.. and all in bloom. It is almost too much to take in and make a decision on anything. You have to make a few laps to get all final. The staff was all very friendly and very helpful. I bought just 3 selections, but the fans where huge and healthy. They even gave me an "extra" since it was "just itching to get to a good home". I will be back!

I placed my first order with VOTD for the end-of-season sales. The plants I received were good size, with large root sytems, and appear very healthy. They've been in the ground about a week or so now and are doing great- nice and green, showing new growth. I also received bonus plant- nice! I will order from this nursery again.

I ordered ten daylilies on the fall sale list and I expected them to be small at those prices, but I was very pleasantly surprised, when they arrived today. They were all very big and I received a bonus plant, too. I'm very happy with my purchase and will come back for more in the future.

Ordered 22 plants this Spring which were received as promised. Plants were small but very healthy and all are doing well! Also received 3 very nice bonus plants. Dan's prices are very reasonable and is a pleasure to do business with.

The daylily plants that I received were very small. One of the daylilies appeared to be just one step above "seedling" status. They did send me three gift plants. These were registered around 30 years ago, and two of them were dormant. In Zone 8b where I live, it is doubtful if dormants will survive long. I would not order from this company again due to what in my opinion appear to be plants of poor quality.

I was highly impressed by my first visit to Valley of the Daylilies during the national convention in 2005. I recently had the opportunity to place a mail order. Dan was very quick to get back to me when some of my selections were sold out. The plants arrived and looked great. They are all growing nicely. This is a great place to get both spidery and older daylilies. I will order again

I just received my first order which was for seeds. I highly recommend you watch for the seed sale in late November. Dan sent extras of almost every cross and a nice bonus cross. I can't wait to order plants next spring. These are delightful folks to deal with.

I have just placed my second order with VOTD. I was informed by email that the fall sale flyer was coming out and that I would be given the sale price on some of the lilies I had already ordered. I thought that was very generous. The sale prices were so great I emailed an order for 22 more. All plants I received last spring either flowered and/or are thriving. Fans were large and healthy. All email inquiries, changes, etc. are handled immediately and courteously. I love this company!

I received my 1st order from Valley today and WOW!!! I was so impressed and the bonus plant was very nice as well (I looked it up to see what it looked like). The plants are very healthy and big and on many of them I got 3 or more fans. I bought from one other mail order and while they were clumps and healthy, they were not nearly as big as these. All of my communication was through email and the replies were prompt, courteous and not a peep of negativity was uttered when I made a change to my order. The prices fit my budget and that I am grateful for. Shipping was right on schedule as well. I will definitely order from them again -- have to see what room I have left though in the yard!

Valley of the Daylilies has a great selection of spiders, heirlooms and "regular" daylilies - the only problem is trying to decide what to buy! Plants are well-rooted, there's excellent customer service and you will be happy you bought here. I bought 7 DL's this year and want more next year - of course!!

I received my beautiful peachy-pink "Shoo Fly Pie" from Dan today to grow here in Pa. Dutch Country - the home of the shoofly pies. It was the largest double fan I have received this spring ( 60 new plants so far) and was fresh and clean with a good root system. Not only that he included a gift of "Its Soul Time", a lovely crispate unusual form that I know I can use with my species plants. Dan was kind enough to respond to my email inquires and I would highly recommend the great healthy plants he grows. Just wish I could afford more of them! LOL

Placed my order several months ago, with instructions for April shipping, and my order arrived yesterday - right on time. I know they were freshly dug as, while the roots were nice and clean, I got a free, live earthworm in one of the clumps :-) Fans were nice and plump, everything a nice, bright, healthy green. "Thank you gift" DL was a pleasant surprise. Prices were quite a bit cheaper than some of the other places I've looked, so I was originally concerned about quality - but I found I had nothing to fear. I have acres to fill, but a small budget - I envision a new order of DLs from VOTD each spring for a long time to come :-)

I've known Dan & Jackie Bachman, the owners of Valley of the Dayliles since the summer of 1999. I've been buying from them as long and they are the nicest people you'll find. I live an hour south of them and have been there at many times during the growing season, as well as, the week of their annual Daylily open house in early July. That, in my opinion, has to be the best time (if you have the chance to visit) to be there to see the thousands of daylily varieties in bloom on 12 acres. It's like being a 'kid in a candy store'! He also sells some potted hostas & perennials. I'm very honored that Dan has named one of his seedling's after me that he's introducing this year (Marilyn Grua). I've bought a lot of daylilies from him since 1999, and have bought a lot of his Daylily introductions since 2001. He specializes in the 'spidery' forms in his introductions and I'm hooked on them! Highly Recommened!

Wow! I received my VOTD order today and the plants are huge and fresh! Not only do they send really great plants; Dan Bachman is a saint --- I changed my order at least three times and he kept his good humor. I highly recommend these folks!

I just receive an order from Dan at Valley of the Daylilies and once again, I am very pleased. This is the third time I have received plants from him. First time was an order I placed last fall and the second was through a Co-op through the Davesgarden forums last spring. This order arrived just as healthy as the rest: - Giant clumps of more than double fans on most of the plants. - Healthy fans that looked like they were just dug a day or two ago. - And last but not least, very reasonable prices and a owner who obviously believes in good customer service.

I just returned from a visit to VOTD July Open House...my first time out to the farm and first excursion ever to buy 'special' daylilies... I was greeted by the owners and offered lots of help to learn about and tour through the 3500 or so DLs--a huge selection, can't beat the 'value for money' spent, and all 'round good time. Indeed, I recommend an 'in person' visit combined with antique-ing and lunch in Lebanon or Waynesville for a special summer daytrip! (And for woodworking enthusiasts, the Workshops of David T. Smith, celebrated cabinet makers, is nearly on the next farm.) The Bachman's were instrumental in helping to host the 2005 AHS Convention here in Cincy, so I had the advantage of seeing their show gardens in peak condition. Of particular interest are the Spider Lilies that Dan hybridizes and is well-known for. I purchased 20 of them, and I am more than satisfied and very excited to include them in my perennial garden.

In July of 2004 Our Daylily club made a buying trip to Valley of the Daylilies. We all picked out our plants and went to lunch then came back and picked them all up. Dan was generous with the Daylilies, my wife picked out several 5 dollar plants based mostly on the name alone, Dan gave us clumps instead of 2 or 3 fans. I picked out several hosta and when we got back he included a H. Buckeye for a thank you. He will be on tour during the 2005 National Daylily convention. Very nice and very good plants.

Just received a sale order from Valley of the Daylilies, and the root systems are amazing! They sent huge single, double, or TRIPLE fans, and nothing was over $3.50! I had placed a co-op order with them last spring, and it was a very nice order, but nothing to compare with this one. I will not hesitate to order from them again; great products and great people!
