This is Sunrise seeds out of Indiana, not California, they are two different companies. I wanted Collective Farm Woman seeds. So I ordered them, and to be fair to them also ordered a bunch of other seeds. They were shipped promptly, and received about a week later. Lots of seeds, three or four packets of an onion I had only ordered one of, and a couple other things like that. But the one I wanted, the Collective Woman had been omittted. I emailed. I phoned and left a message. Toward two months later, nothing in the way of a reply. So I have ordered the seeds for someone else. (As a note, I by mistake called Sunrise Seeds in California. Even though it was not the right company, they were very helpful, phoned back, emailed etc.)

I ordered Zinnia seeds from Sunrise in late January. Now, at the end of March, all I can say is that they kept their seeds and stole my money.

I ordered early for nasturtiums since they had a nice range. Seeds arrived promptly in small resealable zip locks. I was pleased until I planted. I had harvested my own seeds last year from an annie's annual plant, and almost EVERY one of those seeds germinated. the 5 varieties from sunrise? 3 didn't come up at all, one came up at about a 20% rate, and one came up around 40% but what really irritates me is there was NO response to my detailed email asking about the low germination rate. Seeds that don't sprout (and ALL were soaked overnight and labelled and cultured together identically) are basically useless - it's spending on money on something that won't even start. I really wish they had responded promptly but it's been a week...some of the seed starts are now almost a month with no germination...

Posted on January 17, 2011, updated May 2, 2011 Ordered mini gerbera seeds. Seeds arrived promptly. Each packet contained 5 seeds less than promised on the website. No response to email. Not a single seed sprouted. Mini gerbera seeds which I bought on ebay and planted 10 days later than Sunrise Seeds gerberas have already sprouted and are happily growing.

I have ordered from this company 4-5 times in the past 2 years. Most times from LocalHarvest.com, once from the web site and once through the catalog. Each and every time I am delighted at the heirloom, open pollinated and often organic seeds. Packaging is always perfect and seed quality is top notch. This year i experienced an error that was answered and corrected immediately along with a bonus. I could not be more pleased and recommend them to my students and fellow instructors as well as anyone else that asks! Top Notch service and seed!

I ordered craspedia seeds from link: //www.sunriseseeds.com/catalog.0.html6.0.html and it stated 25 seeds. They only sent a packet of 10. When I emailed them, they told me that it's an old link but immediately sent out additional seeds to correct the order since that is what the active website stated. They should update the website to not show that active link because it is misleading if it is old, but their customer service is superb. A++++ for correcting themselves immediately! Will do business again. Will update at a future date on germination success.

Posted on October 16, 2010, updated February 7, 2011 I ordered two packages of Xerophyllum asphodeloides, turkey's beard, from the companies' web site. A package labeled X. tenax, which is bear grass, arrived. From all the accounts for this plant, bear grass is more difficult to grow in the humid climate of the east coast where I had intended to grow out the seeds. Turkey's beard is also native to the Eastern US. Bear grass is a western US wildflower. I sent Surise several e-mails and a letter asking if this was a labeling problem, i.e. the seeds were turkey's beard and were mislabeled as bear grass - or if the seeds were indeed X. tenax, bear grass. I just wanted to know! They never responded. Xerophyllum asphodeloides, turkey's beard, is a rather unusual wildflower and was enthused to able to obtain seeds, but disappointed at the outcome from this company.

On February 7th, 2011, brianog changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: It took forever, but they finally responded to my questions about Xerophyllum. In the, end they couldn't verify the species one way or the other, so they gave me a PayPay refund.

A friend tried to contact them via email, no response. I just tried to call and apparently they don't have a business phone number. I have just sent an email through Dave's Garden and will post back what the results are. I did order some tomato seeds and they arrived within a few days. There are a very generous amount of seeds in each little packet. Will post back later in summer when they are ready to pick. Price of seeds and shipping cost is unbelievably low cost. That's a good thing.

I purchased several packs of seeds from Sunrise in September and most arrived within a reasonable time frame. Two selections were no longer available and they promptly refunded my money. However 1 packet of seeds was omitted from my order and I didn't catch it until October. I sent an e-mail and was informed by the company on 11/9/08 that the packet of seeds would go out the following week. I have yet to receive the seeds and have sent 2 additionals e-mails with no response. Normally I wouldn't sweat over 1 packet of seeds but it was a $5.29 price.

I'm giving a Positive review because I did get the seeds I wanted, but it didn't go that smoothly. Email responses ranged from VERY fast to pretty fast, so that was good. However, It took a week and a half to get my seeds, which I thought was odd until I emailed and found out that they were waiting on some seeds to come in so they could be sent to me. I thought it would have been better though to just let me know ahead of time that they were waiting on seeds instead of waiting for me to email them about it. When I got my order, I got 2 of one packet (can't complain there), however I was missing two of the packets I ordered(one of which had a backordered stamp next to it on the invoice) I would have preferred a note letting me know when I would receive these backordered seeds, but I emailed the company and told them my order was a little off, so now I"m just waiting on two packets out of the 7 or so I ordered. I don't want to give a negative review, but I kinda wish this process went a little more smoothly.

Reasonable prices and shipping costs. Good selection of seeds. Good customer service. I received all but one pack of seeds one week after mailing it out. And the other pack of seeds, which was on backorder came soon after that. All seed varieties germinated.

I ordered on Nov 17 seventeen packages of seeds. I received the order today, Nov 21. Very, very quick and I was pleased to have received some nice bonus packages. Thank you. I found many seeds that I have not seen elsewhere especially Nasturtiums. The site is very user friendly and they take paypal. Patti

I ordered Gerbera daisy and Echinacea seeds from Sunrise in early July. The Gerberas arrived promptly, but the Echinaceas were on B/O. Almost all of the Gerberas germinated within a week and upon request, Sunrise is sending me another packet of Gerberas in place of the backordered Echinaceas. I would say this company provides high quality seed at good prices with excellent customer service. Some of the larger seed comanies could learn a thing or two (or more) from Sunrise! Will definitely order from Sunrise again.

When I checked the (expensive) seeds I'd ordered and found a big hole in one, I emailed Susan. Literally within minutes she had replied, apologizing and saying she would send me a new packet for my trouble. The seeds arrived in two days, and there were two packets instead of one. What great customer service. I noticed a lot of the seeds Sunrise carries are more expensive per packet than at other places; but then, most of the other places have higher S&H, so I suppose it all evens out.

I ordered several varieties of seeds and received the wrong color of martagon seeds. It took multiple phone calls and emails over a period of many months to finally get the right seeds. When she finally got ready to send them she sent me an email telling me to pick another seed I would like so that she could send it as a way of saying 'Sorry'. But before I could get back to her with what I would like she emailed to say she had sent my martagon seeds.
