Bloomin Designs Nursery

Ordered a number of ground cover plants from them. They were great. Healthy, decent sized and a good value. They all succeeded this year with very challenging dry weather from spring to fall for us. Not one plant flinched even when I didn’t water as frequently as I wanted to. I’ll be ordering again.

BloominDesigns Nursery advertises as "Direct from the grower to your yard," perhaps leading to some confusion as to whether BloominDesigns actually grows the plants they sell. The Excallibur Yucca that we purchased from BloominDesigns were markedup and drop shipped from Walter's Gardens. This may or may not be important to the customer, price aside. The plants arrived in perfect condition as plants from WG always do. The Bloomin Designs website says that their nursery is not open to the public.

Bought some elfin thyme and was very satisfied with what I received!

Posted on June 12, 2019, updated August 16, 2019 I recently bought an 18 count tray of Ajuga plants from these folks, having found most local/online nurseries were sold out. They were here in 3 days, very solid healthy plants, and a good price compared to what I paid per plant locally earlier in the spring. Plan to purchase more from these folks next spring.

Posted on May 17, 2016, updated August 24, 2016 My "Hot Papaya" coneflowers arrived in perfect condition last week, despite the UPS person setting the box on it's side. So much for those arrows! At least he put it in the shade. The little plants are perfect, and I loved the tray after I discovered I could eject a plug with the flick of a finger. Bloomin' Designs exceeded my expectations.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! Do NOTORDER from this Company. There is a reason that there have been no reviews about them here in over a year and it is because they do not stand behind their products, they do not honor their word as a vendor. I purchase close to $300 in various Hosta plants in May 2015. They arrived dead and lying in a mess inside the box. I immediately (within 5 hours of receipt) notified them by email and spoke to "Mike" who I asked for a refund and also offered for him to arrange to send UPS to pick up the plants . At that time of my order, their FAQ guaranteed an "immediate refund or replacement of plants" if the items received were not satisfactory. Mike agreed right away in writing by email "to stand behind their guarantee" and give me a full refund back to my credit card. When I asked him in multiple follow-up emails when the refund would be issued, he never responded. Finally after several days, he replied asking me "whether the box was damaged", I answered his question, and again asked him when my refund that he promised me would be issued. After a few days of more unanswered emails that I sent him, he asked me to send him photos of everything. I then emailed him many photos. I again asked where was my refund. After a day, he replied that I needed to send the plants back to get my refund. By this time 5 days had gone by. Despite the fact that he never said anything prior to this about sending the plants back & never replied to my original offer to return the plants, now he wanted the plants back. I had discarded the rotting mess of plants on the 5th day and he knew that I did not have them any longer. This Company a few days later changed their FAQ to no longer say anything about a refund for plants that are unsatisfactory. So, the facts are that this is a dishonest Company that sent dead plants, lied about issuing me an immediate refund by standing behind their guarantee, deliberately took several days to not respond to my emails, asked for photos, etc. (all of which I sent them), then finally, days later, asked me to send the plants back in order to get a refund. Then they changed their FAQ about refund, entirely eliminating refunds as an option. Would you trust doing business with a company such as this, would you trust whatever they say about this situation with me?. I don't think so, and despite whatever they say in response to my review, I have everything I have said above documented in writing. Ultimately, the most important part of this for anyone as a potential customer is that Mike from their Company agreed at the beginning of this situation to give me a full refund, with no conditions to return the plants, just send him the photos, he would stand behind their refund guarantee. He lied, no refund was ever issued, and nothing they say can be trusted about their business because their word means nothing. Stay away from this Company. Buyer Beware!!!

I have ordered flats of seedlings from Bloomin Designs six times this season. They have been very responsive to my delivery date requests and all plants have arrived in first rate condition. For quantity purchases they have the best prices I can find online for a home gardener. The 2 flats of Stephanie Returns daylilies I ordered from them are flourishing in my Maine garden.

Although I've ordered from many online nurseries in the past two years since I started my garden, this is the first time I ordered from Bloomin' Designs (after learning about them right here!). Most of my experiences with other major companies has been mediocre at best, but I have been super pleased with BD in every way! I ordered an 18ct flat of 3.75" creeping thyme plants for a border around one garden, and they mistakenly sent a flat of ten 4" pots instead. I sent a note to Mike and he very quickly shipped out the missing plants PLUS extras, all in the larger size. I was amazed and impressed at their generosity in compensating for their error! And also with Mike's prompt attention. This is all on top of the other commendable things about Bloomin' Designs-- the quality plants themselves, the very well-packed box they arrive in, and the fast shipping. I can't say enough good things about them. If you need good plants in quantity, they are definitely the place to go. I'm already making a wish list for next season!

I found Blooming' Designs online when looking for some bulk plants for a home I recently moved to upstate New York. They were very helpful in arranging my order and making multiple changes that I requested. I placed a sizable order and am happy that almost all of them are returning this spring. We had a harsh winter, and I have probably a 95% success rate. Keep in mind I also had not done a lot of winterizing of the beds...so I am ecstatic with the results. I placed a second order for spring shipment and have had great service in arranging and changing a ship date based on my travels and also changing the order based on my soil conditions and discoveries from last year. In many cases I was able to get 25 plants for what I would pay for 10 of them at my local seller...great prices and great service.

I will never buy from this company again. Over 50% of the bare root perennials that I purchased from them last fall did not make it through the winter despite taking all necessary precautions. The issue I have is that the company does not warranty its products. It only guarantees delivery of a plant but not its quality.

While perusing the Internet researching groundcovers I was so thrilled to find a company that sold retail as well as wholesale. What a great experience buying from Bloomin Designs Nursery! I found just what I was looking for, Lotus Plenus, even though I didn't know at the time that that was what I was looking for. Fell in love with the plants, emailed Mike to make sure they were still available (this was the third week in May), he emailed back that night they were still available. I ordered them the next day and they arrived two or 3 days later, beautiful plants, beautifully wrapped and in great condition! Very impressive all the way around. Kudos!

I ordered some plants (a flat of groundcovers) from Bloomindesigns nursery on Jan 9, 2013, requesting them to be sent to me on March 25, 2013. they shipped the plants exactly on March 25, and i received them on March 27. the plants were BEAUTIFUL! Lush, all nice and green. Strong plants, full of healthy leaves and branches. Strong roots. not teeny tiny skimpy roots like you get from some nurseries sometimes. I'm happy :) Thank you :))

Bloomin Designs provided us with an outstanding product at a great price. There customer service was very hepful. Our plants arrived on time and were very well packaged. We will definately buy from them again.

my experience with this company was outstanding! I wanted to plant a long row of daylilies in my yard but I did not know exactly what I wanted. I emailed Mike for advice and received a prompt and helpful response. Our conversation continued through a series of emails until I had a better idea of what I should plant. When I decided what I wanted, the number that I needed did not fit into the quantity categories that he offers. So being the typical demanding internet customer, I emailed him again to tell him what I wanted. He offered a special link that fit exactly what I asked for without complaint. Now here is the best part. In looking at the site he shows an example picture of the fans that he sends and they look pretty small. Based on the low price that he charges, I was afraid that I would be disappointed with my order. But since he had been so helpful I decided to give him a try. Well! When I received the order, I was amazed at the quality of the plants. The fans were huge, healthy and way beyond what I expected. I am so pleased! And Mike if you read this take a bettter picture.

Was very happy with my purchase experience with this company. From the emails exchanged prior to shipping to the receipt of the plants. This was my first purchase from them but will not be my last.

Was looking for reasonably priced daylily site for Plum Perfect and found them. Site said nothing about any stock on this particular daylily so I emailed them and the replied promptly indicating they only had a few, but allowed me to place an order for 2. Received them promptly. Rating for plant quality is Negative as the daylillies they sent had no fans-only little tiny green sprouts on top-almost looked like they had one and divided it. In all the daylily purhases I have made from tons of nurseries, these were the puniest ones I have ever seen. I planted them and they seem to be growing-lets see what happens in the spring.

I am impressed by the wide variety of mini Hostas. I emailed a question about availability, and they responded promptly. The ordering process was quick and easy. All of the Hostas arrived in superb condition. I am eager to order other plants from Bloomin Designs.

I ordered John Creech sedum, variegated liriope, daylily Rosy Returns and creeping phlox. The plants arrived very carefully packed and in great condition. After planting, they have been growing much faster than I expected. Mike was very responsive to my questions. I would order from this company again and recommend it based on my experience.

Posted on June 12, 2009, updated May 2, 2011 I purchased hosta's for the first time here last spring (sorry I'm so late with the review ). They are doing wonderful this year. I bought "Rainforest Sunrise" and "Fragrant Blue". Beautiful now, thankyou!

Hate to leave a negative feedback, but this company's customer service and replacement policy really sucks! They just don't stand behind their (dead) product and don't want to make things right. Very disappointed! I ordered 6 Knock Out roses from them last fall, 3 rainbows and 3 pinks. I also ordered about 25 other roses from other companies last fall. All roses arrived dormant, as they should be, and the pink knockouts had wilted dead leaves on them, but I though: OK doesn't look good, but they must be dormant, let's wait till spring. By the way, the pink knockouts had their roots chopped like the home depot bag roses. I planted all the roses as soon as they arrived. Comes spring, all roses that I ordered last Fall are growing nicely except these 3 dead pink knock outs, for which I paid $45 total. The 3 roses are totally dead (as they were upon arrival, but it was hard to be absolutely sure in the Fall). So I just email the company, being sure that they would ship replacements, (which I would be happy to get) and here's what I got fro Mike: "Hi, Regrets on the problem, however we cannot guarantee what may happen once a plant is shipped." Our policy - "We can guarantee our plants to arrive at your doorstep healthy, viable, true to variety and labeled; no substitutions without your approval. If you think they may have been damaged during shipment or arrive in poor condition, we would like to know immediately. Within 48 hours of plant delivery, if there is any dissatisfaction, we will replace the plant or refund the purchase price." Nice! So the plants were NOT viable, but how is one suppose to tell in 48 hours when it's Fall and they supposed to be "dormant" and should not show any growth till Spring? So, basically, the company's policy means that they reserve the right to ship you dead plants, and once it's shipped - it's your problem. I have never experienced such unfriendly attitude from an online plant vendor, most online nurseries will guarantee their plants for 1 year and even if they don't have a guarantee they would usually try to make things right. Most will gladly ship you a replacement if something went wrong, ESPECIALlY if it is NOT a customer's fault! When you shop online, you can not physically choose your plants as you would in a regular nursery, so you trust the people to choose for you. I don't like paying for dead plants! I have 15+ years of gardening experience and know how to plant and take care of a rose. Besides, the other 3 roses that this company shipped are growing just fine, so obviously there was an issue with the other 3, and this company does not want to acknowledge this and make things right. I am very disappointed and will never order again from them and will warn my gardening friends about this company.

Working with Bloomin Designs was a very nice experience. The Delosperma ground cover I ordered arrived looking very healthy and even had a few small flowers in bloom. All questions were answered ASAP and with a friendly attitude. This will be the first place I look for plants in the future.

My first time order of a flat (36) of Liriope muscari 'Big Blue' exceeded all expectations. The order was processed and shipped quickly. The plants were well packed. The plants are larger than expected and very healthy.

My order arrived very quickly and the quality of the plants is excellent. I swear they are even in better condition than what I saw recently at our local high-quality-expensive nursery. I would certainly order from Bloomin Designs again!

I would strongly suggest everyone buy from this nursery before all others!! I just now signed up to Dave's Garden for the sole purpose of adding to all the positive comments for Linda & Mike. I ordered 15 Jethro Tull coreopsis, they arrived in one day, were in AMAZING shape and much larger than I expected! Mike responded quickly to all my e-mails and gave me great advice. Their packaging was the best I've ever seen, which shows they truly care about their plants. It's obviously more than just a company to them. You'll not find better people to deal with: knowledge, courtesy, kindness, and care...what more could you ask for?! Oh yeah, their prices are great too!

I ordered several flats of perennials and they arrived promptly on the date that I requested. The plants were well-packed, undamaged and in good shape. I appreciated the prompt replies from the owners when I had questions. I'll definitely be using this vendor again. I've already recommended them to several friends.

I ordered 2 flats of Georgia Blue. They arrived quickly; the packaging was great. Not a drop of soil was lost and the plants were all green and happy. They gave me a great deal and I will definitely order from them again.

I recently ordered two flats of the 4" pots of Variegated Liriope based on the positive comments I'd seen here. They were shipped from Ga.on June 9 and arrived in Cincinnati on June 10. I was extremely pleased with the size, quality and condition of the plants which far exceeded my expectations. When you mail order, especially from a new place (this was my 1st order), you never know what to expect.......and I was surprised and quite pleased by the plants I rec'd. Mike and Linda obviously run a quality business and provide healthy, high quality plants at a reasonable cost. I will definitely order from Blooming Designs again in the future based on this experience.

I just received my first order of roses from Bloomin Designs and was very impressed with how well they were packed and how healthy the roses were. I wanted the new varieties of Knockout roses and had a hard time finding them; but when I checked out Bloomin Designs site, they had every variety I wanted and the price was very reasonable. Happy Day! ;) In addition, the email I received as to the shipment being sent and when I could expect to receive it, was right on the mark. Living in Florida I knew I was taking a chance ordering roses this late in the season; but this worked out very well. I look forward to ordering from them again.

I purchased 4 flats of plants and three daylilly plants. The flats came packed with beautiful plants and survived the shipping because of the great packing. I had a question regarding shipping and Mike was very helpful...super service. I also received a discount on the flats. This is an all-round great place to buy plants and I will definitely order from them again.

Bloomin' Designs sent me one flat of ajuga and one flat of Chrysogonum. BD's are 4" pots, filled to the brim, very, very large plants looking very healthy. Price per plant here is less than others I ordered from another company which came in only 3" pots and look sickly by comparison. My order was shipped very quickly, the packaging was outstanding, plants arrived in perfect condition and pots were filled to overflowing. Shipping costs were also reasonable.

Wonderful varieties of hostas offered. The site has them categorized by size, which I appreciated. I didn't have to sort through all of them to get the size I wanted. Mike & Linda worked with me on the best shipping date for my area. I was notified of shipment and the plants arrived fresh and healthy. I am very happy with the great plants and great service!

Bought some perennals.They were great nice size plants

I am excited about this company. I bought bareroot knockout roses from this company a few weeks ago and the roots were about 10 to 12 inches long and many of them. I also bought some packaged knockouts from Lowes and their rootbase was about 6 inches long. Needless to say the roses from Bloomin' designs are thriving and the ones from Lowes are struggling. I can't wait to purchase more products from this company.

I got my hostas and knockout roses in perfect condition! They were packed well and very fresh. One of the biggest I have every recieved by mail order. Very quick shipping! The people at Bloomin Designs were also very helpful when it came to assisting me in picking my selection that would work for my yard in my zone. They even gave me planting and care tips! It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend them to anyone. You will definately be receiving more of my business in the future.

I recently received my first order from Bloomin Designs and immediately placed my second order. Excellent web site, selection, quality, customer service, communication, packaging, and prices!! And a reasonable shipping fee -- unusual! Good to find a supplier who carries some of the harder-to find-species. If my initial experience with this company is any indication of how they operate their business all the time, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.

I just received my first order of plants from Bloomin Designs nursery, and the daylilies were very nice, large rooted plants. The packing was great, very neatly wrapped in wet paper towels and plastic wrap, the plants looked as though they had just been removed from the garden. Also, the bonus plant was great, Strawberry Fields Forever, one that is usually too pricey for me to purchase, so that was a pleasant surprise. I am very satisfied and plan to order again when I need more plants.

The plants were so well packed, that they stayed in really good condition until I was able to plant them. Alabama had been very hot, and even that did not seem to affect the quality of the plants. I will definitely order from them again.

Their email response was immediate, everything I ordered was in stock, was shipped and received in a matter of days. The bareroot plants are large, look extremely healthy and were packed beautifully. This is the first year I have ordered from Bloomin Designs and I was so pleased with the first order that I immediately placed a second order. Daylilies and hostas were both very nice, healthy plants and I was especially pleased with ferns that I ordered. The first order included a fern that was just breaking dormancy and the invoice included a handwritten note explaining that and also telling me that the fern was already used to being outdoors. Both communication and packing are outstanding.
