Bonsai of Brooklyn

When I recently started wanting to expand my bonsai passion, I realized I was no longer as young as I was when I started. Turning 64, I began to stop making cuttings, and planting seeds. I decided I wanted established bonsai, and so, began shopping the internet. I had been doing business with Eastern Leaf out of Chino, Calif for many months and found them responsive and useful, but discovered it was a different animal when I finally took the plunge and purchased one of their medium-sized trees (see review). I then purchased a little serissa from Bonsai Boy of Dallas and was pleased, but then I started thinking It could all have been a pig-in-a-poke; I could have simply gotten a good one this time.. All of the on line bonsai stores simply put an example picture to represent what you could be getting. Why couldn't a bonsai dealer simply take a picture of each of the exact plant the buyer would be given. Some do offer "one of a kind" masterpieces at massive prices, but I wanted something different. I wanted to grow my masterpieces. And then I found Bonsai of Brooklyn. I was delighted! not only were they on the right coast (instead of the left coast, I live in New Jersey), they offered a picture of each and every plant they sold. Along side the plant is a measuring stick indicating the actual height. On top of that, they offer pre-bonsai material with a picture of each. I'd spoken with the owner a couple of times and began with a pre-bonsai Tiger Bark Ficus. It came very quickly and in excellent shape. I wanted to add a multi-trunk Japanese Maple to my collection and waited til temperatures started coming down for autumn. The owner explained that the leaves had already started changing and not to be shocked if there were not as many as depicted. Again, the pre-bonsai came with very little leaf burn and is ready for it to be made into a bonsai. I'm waiting til Spring, of course. I was ready to purchase a bonsai, when I saw the prettiest Ming Auralia and fell in like. It came. It's more beautiful than the photo. You would not believe the unique nebari! I'm going to have fun with this young bonsai. Each and every bonsai comes with an extensive care page as well. They also offer a comprehensive range of tools. He refuses to carry anything not up to standard. The pots are reasonably priced and varied. The only problem I have is that there are so many pots and plants, I spend a lot of time on the site, which is not really a problem at all. .

Based on the reviews I drove to Bonsai Boy and had the owner (Paul) help me select three plants. I have a brown thumb, so I asked for hardier ones to start (elephant bush and ficus). I have bought more since then. When I've had an issue he emailed me the response within a few hours (or minutes). When one was growing "too large" I drove out and he spent a good time showing me the proper way to trim the tree. I can not vouch for his shipping, but I can vouch for his onsite service. Rob

I had a previously horrible experience from another Bonsai Company and was afraid to try another company via the internet but I took a risk, and with the outcome/results I was very very happy! 101% Satisfied. I instructed Bonsai of Brooklyn to please send my pkg via USPS and it was done. Pkg came really super fast like Speedy Gonzales as per my instructions and the Juniper plant was just like the picture said it would look like: Absolutely beautiful and healthy! I will certainly do business here again and have instructed all my friends to order from this prestigous store. I also ordered a piece of figurine and it came neatly wrapped and just as the picture illustrated, just as the way it look and I was very pleased. You want your dollar's worth? How about quality? I have ordered supplies from them on numerous occasions. They have excellent shipping and good prices.

Good source for gardening supplies. They have some hard to find items, shipping was quick, service and email correspondence was quick and friendly.

Paul of Bonsai of Brooklyn was very helpful and accommodating to a complete pre-beginner in email correspondence and on the telephone. Telephone ordering worked well, as Paul's suggestions during the process were valuable. My order arrived when promised in perfect condition. If my first attempt at bonsai isn't a complete disaster, I'll definitely deal with BofB again.

I ordered 4 diferent Serissa pre-Bonsai plants from them to train myself and got the ones I asked for and paid for which is very nice to have done as you get the shape you desire in the plant. They have a website where you pick and choose the plant you want. Excellent condition, and packaging. I am a very satisfied customer and will buy from then again.
