Notes

The Watchdog received the following from the Watsons in January 2004:

"We do not run a full-time, full-scale commercial (or even registered) seed harvest business. What we collect is much involved with our other work as botanists, plant investigators and writers. In addition we do not, as a policy, keep seeds in storage from one year to the next. If any are left over, we dispose of them at a much reduced price the second year.

This year we have fallen behind with obligations to author and contribute to two major books. We also have a potential very large-scale, five-year field investigation on the horizon and need to clear the decks for this. Various other important projects have also become back-logged.

As a result we have made the decision not to collect or produce a list this year. We cannot say when we might begin to collect again. It could even be that other priorities will take over entirely.

We realise that this is a disappointment both to our faithful regulars and anyone else who has an interest in Andean seed sources, which are not exactly thick on the ground! However, sadly we have no alternative.

John Watson and Anita Flores are two well known seed collectors. They travel to Chile and Argentina each year to collect seeds from the plants growing there. They have collected seeds of many plants virtually unknown to cultivation; including several Tropaeolum species, Alstroemeria species and several rosulate Violas. Their seed list can be ordered by using the adress above, and include a few pounds or dollars for postage. ---------------------------------------------------- Their seed list is unbelivable; and I received my seeds fast. Payment was cash, they accept any currencies but charge a small fee for exchange. They also accept British and Euro-cheques. I will definitively order from them again!
