To Whom it May Concern: This is a copy of an E-mail that I sent to Aloha Orchids. Since they are a subsidiary of your company, I thought I might, at the very least, get a response. I tried sending this message to Sales@AlohaOrchids.Com but it was returned. This collection contains well established mix in 4 and 5 inch pots. New Year Sale 1Attributes (if any): New Year Sale 10 Plants - 10 Different Varieties Price: $60.00 Product ID: 4033 Product Name: 60 hrs Heat Pack Attributes (if any): Price: $3.50 Quantity: 4 Aloha Aloha Orchids, As you already know, I have received my packages. Since you don’t have Feedback set up yet at your web site, I am sending this myself. On the POSITIVE side: The outside of the boxes were clearly labeled with these notices: FRAGILE, HANDLE WITH CARE, PLEASE RUSH LIVE ORCHID PLANT, AVOID EXTREME COLD/HEAT! – Aloha Orchid Nursery PERISHABLE – FEDEX EXPRESS Each box was neatly packed, covered and lined with newspaper, and the plants were surrounded with shredded strips of newspaper to cushion them. The plants were tightly wrapped in cellophane, taped and sleeved. The plants in both boxes were in 4” plastic orchid pots. The plants were not seedlings; they ranged in height from 4” – 18” and in width from 6” – 20”. On the NEGATIVE side: Someone at Aloha Orchids and the FED EX delivery person didn’t read the warning labels. I have already filed a claim with FED EX. The claim number is 0309730409. I tracked the delivery. The boxes were picked up early Friday morning , March 9, and weren’t delivered until 4:25 in the afternoon. Menands is only a 10 minute drive to Troy. Why were the boxes they labeled PERISHABLE the last to be delivered??? The Aloha Orchid label warns - AVOID EXTREME COLD/HEAT! - THE HEAT PACKS WERE MISSING AND THE PLANTS WERE FREEZING COLD. I IMMEDIATELY filled my kitchen sink with warm water, removed the plant sleeves, but not the cellophane wrapping, and placed the pots in the warm water. I also sprayed the leaves with warm water. The next thing I did was to unwrap and inspect the plants and make a record what I received. I checked each plant for damage, disease, insect infestation, and crown rot, the planting medium for deterioration, and the roots to see if they were impacted, had root rot, were broken, or dead. The results of this inspection are: Some of the leaves have knicks, open cracks, holes, bruises, or healed scars. Some are discolored, with patches of yellow and or brown spots. Some of the leaves have completely yellowed, shriveled and are very dry. As for the roots – several of the plants had outgrown their pots and were severely root bound. I removed and dislodged the gravel from all of the plants roots, washed and disinfected them in warm water, washed and disinfected the planting medium and saved what was salvageable. I picked out the broken roots and dead leaf matter. Many of the plants roots had signs of rot, some had broken and were in threads, some roots had broken off, died and were rotting in the growing medium. There was a distinct foul odor. I removed any roots that were damaged, rotting, or dead with sterile scissors. I have repotted every plant in a new larger pot. This is a record of what I received: in the MIXED VARIETY Group: *2 - **D Emma White - Labeled in pencil *2 – **D Nanae - Labeled in pencil *2 – ***Vuyl Mellissa Brianne Twani Tart - Label 15102 1 – **D Nanae X Burana Pink – Label A350 1 – Blue Foxtail - Labeled in pencil 1 – Green Star - Labeled in pencil 1 – Phal Hsim Red Lip - Labeled in pencil PLEASE NOTE THE DESCRIPTION BELOW: This is what I see – AFTER CHRISTMAS SALE!!! 10 MIX VARIETY ORCHIDS At the bottom of the description it says – 10 Plants – 10 DIFFERENT VARIETIES *I GOT 2 OF EACH OF THESE - I SHOULD HAVE ONLY GOTTEN 1 ** 5 OF THE PLANTS ARE THE SAME - DENDROBIUMS *** 2 OF THE PLANTS ARE THE SAME - VUYL INSTEAD OF GETTING 10 DIFFERENT VARIETIES – I ONLY GOT 5 DIFFERENT VARIETIES INSTEAD OF GETTING 10 DIFFERENT PLANTS – I ONLY GOT 6. 14283 - After Christmas Sale!!! 10 Mix Variety Orchids A terrific deal, an assortment of different types of mature size orchids not in bloom for only $6.00 each. I MADE AND PAID FOR A LONG DISTANCE CALL AND TALKED FOR SOME TIME WITH A SALES PERSON TO ADD TO THE ORIGINALORDER AND TO GET ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS I HAD ASKED IN A PREVIOUS E-MAIL BUT GOT NO RESPONSE TO. TO CORRECT THE MISTAKES THAT WERE MADE , YOU WILL PROBABLY EXPECT ME TO RETURN THE DUPLICATES. IF I DO, WHO WILL PAY TO SHIP THEM BACK TO YOU, AND PAY AGAIN TO HAVE THE NEW PLANTS SHIPPED TO ME? YOU WILL PROBABLY WANT PROOF THAT SOME OF THE PLANTS AREN’T IN TERRIBLE CONDITION, OR ALSO EXPECT ME TO SHIP THEM BACK TO YOU, TO HAVE HEALTHY PLANTS SHIPPED BACK TO ME. THESE ORCHIDS ARE BECOMING THE MOST EXPENSIVE I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. I DON’T EVEN KNOW IF ANY OF THE PLANTS WILL SURVIVE FROM BEING EXPOSED TO FREEZING COLD. I AM THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE, HOPING THAT I WILL YOU WILL RESPOND.

When I opened my two shipments, not only were the heat packs I ordered missing, but there were no invoices. I had to contact my credit card company and FedEx to know what I had been charged for my orders and for shipping. The first order was $70 plus $44.43 for shipping, and the second was $60.00 plus $44.43 for shipping. You and FedEx can fight over who was responsible for the plants freezing.
On March 14th, 2007, Photosintothis added the following: This is a copy of the message I sent to Aloho Orchids. This is a follow up on the condition of the orchid plants. I received these plants 4 days ago after being shipped from Hawaii with no heat packs. They had been in a FedEx truck in the freezing cold the whole day. The heat packs I ordered were missing. The leaves are covered with black blotches, shriveling and falling off. I regret to have to inform you that they are dead. I would like to bury them now. If anyone read this, please say a prayer. May they rest in peace.

From: "sales" Subject: Re: Aloha Orchid Nursery Order Confirmation Date: Wed 03/14/07 04:28 AM Aloha, We thank you for your recent email to us. We are very sorry for the missing heat packs. Refund for the heat packs will be issued to payment on file momentarily. For the varieties that have been received, they are 10 different orchid plants all different varieties, just as it is listed. The varieties are different from each other although categorized in the same family, i.e. dendrobium, oncidium, phalaenopsis etc. Orchids for this particular listing is plants that are listed online and majority are unlisted. The orchids are well established, not in bloom varieties. With proper care, it will bloom and continue growth. Mahalo Aloha Orchid Nursery My Response: To Whom it May Concern, How can orchids with the same exact labels be different? Several of the plants I received were duplicates. These are only two of them. I have listed the others above. 2 D - Nange 2 D - Emma White

This is a very good business to transact with. A couple of years ago I was looking for something special to send my mother who lives in Toledo.I reside in Houston and thought I needed to be able to make a purchase online. I thought that since I'm familiar with plumeria and mom isn't,that she would love them, being a plant lover herself. Well I don't need to tell you how many plumeria sites come up and the choices are endless. I came across this one after searching many.I took a chance on this business, to send my mom something that she could treasure on her 80 th birthday.I bought a red plumeria to send.I didn't get to see it arrive, but I had a heartwarming phone call from my mom.She was raving that she had not ever seen something so beautiful in her years! It was in bloom and she loved. She explained every detail to me.I will recommend this business to all. They came through for me on a very important delivery! Thanks so much!!

I bought 3 plumerias and two turned to mush after a few weeks. I contacted company and received company line about their policy - too bad, so sad... Sometimes you really do get what you pay for. I will not be buying from them again.
