We order seeds from Tomato Bob's each year. The seeds are always in a nice clear bag with a picture of the plant. I have never had a problem and I am a loyal customer. Bob usually offers free samples and a personally signed "Thank You" on the Invoice. I don't usually take the time to post reviews but seeing the negative feedback encouraged me to set the record straight. William Cauthen

Do not buy from TomatoBob if you have a planting deadline and need to receive your seeds in a timely manner. Mine took over a month to ship with no communication from the seller, well past my planting deadline. Their multiple emails and voicemails are all full and any attempt to contact them bounces back. Luckily my bank was able to identify it as fraud and reverse the charge on my credit card, so I could order seeds from legitimate companies with customer service and reasonable shipping times. I sent the seeds back when I received them over a month later, since they apparently didn't notice I had reversed the charges. I paid for the return shipping costs and considered it a lesson learned.

I usually don’t write negative comments about a company but my experience with this company has been terrible. I have tried contacting them through email and by telephone and I have left several messages and nobody has returned my emails or messages. It’s been well over a month and I have not received my order. I ended up ordering seeds from 3 other companies about 1 week ago and I have already received all three of their orders. Don’t waste your time with this company

Like many others commenting, I don't believe all of the negative comments here are valid or true. I've had nothing but positive experiences with TomatoBob. The site is incredibly easy to navigate, their prices are totally affordable and they have always been very prompt to ship. Not to mention the best selection I've come across. My packages always arrive on time and with amazing generosity thrown in. I often receive a couple extra samples to try and a hand written note on my invoice along with plenty extra seeds in each baggie that I DID order. These guys really know how to do customer service! I absolutely recommend Tomato Bob!!

I bought seeds from Tomato Bob several times so I felt comfortable placing a large order back in 2010. The order was for over $200 in seeds I ordered either in late 2009 or very early 2010. I ordered very early since they are very slow to ship but they had a great selection. I realized after several months I hadn't received my order and I was weeks away from needing to start my seedlings to have them ready to set out. I contacted them and got a response back the order had been shipped but no details. I told them I hadn't received it but they stubbornly said they shipped it. I lived in a very small town at the time and every one knew me so I asked at the local post office if they had delivered a small package to my place in the last few months and they said no. I contacted them again and offered to accept half the order to put it behind us, the bulk of the order was two of their garden packs, one was meant as a gift. I thought it was a generous offer since I'd still be out over a $100. They once again stubbornly refuse to honor the order. I've never ordered from them since and never would again. I was never offered tracking information or any kind of resolution. They were at the time still selling the garden packs so they had seeds available. As I said earlier they were always painfully slow fullfilling orders, we're talking months, but a lot of seed companies are nearly as bad but refusing to accept responsibility on a lost order, I have no proof it was every sent even, is an extremely poor way to run a business. It's cost them my business and the business of anyone I talk to. If you're going to run a mail order business you have to expect some orders will get lost in the mail, once again I'm assuming they even bothered to ship it, but making the customer accept the entire loss is unacceptable so I'd avoid them at all costs.

I ordered one packet of seeds that I could only find from Tomato Bob's and received my order within a week. Unfortunately there was a mix-up and I received the wrong seeds. Despite being accidently given the wrong order, they let me keep the seeds I had been given and shipped the correct order free of charge within a day of my complaint, along with extra seeds as a thank you. Great customer service and unique tomato varieties. I will definitely recommend and use again.

Having purchased seeds from this family company at least 10 times, I am shocked to see the negative reviews. They are always prompt in responding and the seeds have great germination rates. If they miss one packet which has happened twice, I get the pack quickly and with extras free. The prices are great and the seed specials are such an amazing value. Others have stated they got the wrong plants. Last year I had "bush" cucumbers climbing up my tomatoes that I bought a local chain store. Things can be mislabeled or even have natural variation. I always plant extra for poor growth. I will continue to use them as they have a great selection and continue to grow the seeds that no one else carries.

WOW...I am stunned to see negative reports on Tomato Bob's....I have been buying for 7 or 8 years....have had prompt delivery...excellent service & someone has always been available when I called for additional info.... Love the tomato varieties...I would say that 98% of the seeds grow....as do all the other seeds I grow from them...Never had any issues with overcharges or non shipments...They always send me little extra bonus's...

I have had great experiences with Tomato Bob! In fact, I have won ribbons for Habaneros and Piri Piri peppers using his seeds. I'm also very impressed with the addition of noir de crimee tomatoes this year.

After two weeks I had not received my seeds and I feel fortunate to have found this review page to give me a heads up on how to proceed. Tried to contact rprice@tomatobob.com w/ no replies. Contacted credit card company and was refunded. I signed up here just to leave this review. I would never recommend them to anyone.

The above review was written by Brad from WA, who placed an order with us on March 27, 2013. His order shipped on March 28th via Priority mail with a tracking number (95055101839030873481(we'll leave off the last 2 numbers for privacy). It shows it was to be delivered on March 30th to the address he provided. We also sent an email to Brad on March 28, 2013 (the day his order shipped) to tell him that it was shipped, and that he would recieve it within 3-4 business days. The email also said that if he did not, or had any problems he should call us at 614.256.6298 immediately. We have to this day NEVER received a phone call from him. He emailed us 2 weeks after his order shipped and said he had not received it. We CALLED HIM IMMEDIATELY and offered to resend for free (although we had tracking proving it had shipped once) and he said it was too late and he had already cancelled his credit card payment. We gave him the tracking number and told him we were very sorry he had not received his seeds, and that if they did show up he could keep them anyway. We called him as soon as we knew he had a problem. If he never calls us, how in the world will we even know he didn't get his seeds??? We try VERY hard to ship promptly and make everything right with our customers if they have a problem. The above comments are very unfair.

Found Tomato Bob on line after doing a Google search for heirloom tomatoes. Ordered 7 varieties of tomatoes in 2012. Enclosed with my order, along with concise directions for starting tomatoes, were free seeds that I shared with others. I had a 95% germination and grow rate. I was not expecting such wonderful results, and ended up with more plants than I had room for, eventually donated the plants to a community garden. Last year I started them in the room where the boiler is located & they did well under grow lights. This year, with a more energy efficient boiler, the room isn't as warm, but they are doing well, about an 80% germination rate. I will continue to order from Tomato Bob and I recommend his company to friends & family.

Posted on May 7, 2010, updated March 18, 2013 Criminals. And liars. No seeds. No refund. Tomato Bob's stole $53.78 from me. After nine weeks of trying to reach these cons, I give up. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS!

On March 18th, 2013, utahgrower added the following: My neighbor also had a no show on his seeds... tried to call Tomato Bob's... finally got through... and was told a lie, that seeds were already sent, but would be resent just in case. Six weeks later, seeds still had not arrived. Why doesn't somebody close this place down? I guarantee the majority of the positive ratings were placed by the Tomato Bob scam artists.

We have NO IDEA who this order was for, so I can't respond specifically to the neighbor. We did however look through all emails and phone call lists for a complaint in Utah during the month of March, 2013. We can't find a single one. The bad thing a about Dave's Garden is that anyone can go on here (even a competitor) and say anything they like without a single shred of proof. We are a small family company and we try VERY hard to make all of our customers happy. If we said we resent something, then we did.

While searching for a source for seeds for a school garden project last Fall, I happened upon Tomato Bob. My students and I wrote to him asking if he could send us seeds as part of his "Seeds for Schools" program. A few weeks later a padded envelope stuffed with a wide variety of seeds arrived. He also sent samples and discount coupons to give to parents for their own gardens. I subsequently ordered additional seeds for my home garden. All our orders were filled and arrived without problems, and always with a few extras thrown in, along with a great tomato tip sheet. I've had nothing but great service, and seeds with excellent germination rates. I am already putting my list together for next year. Thanks, Bob!

I got them the very next day! There were also two samples in my order. I felt I must add to the positive comments. Thanks Tomato Bob!!

My husband, four year old daughter and I placed a $50 order with Tomato Bob last week. We were excited when the order arrived today with all of the correct seeds and the free sampler pack as promised with our order over $25. We have ordered once before from this company and had an equally pleasant experience. Our garden was tremendous and the heirloom tomatoes are still the talk of the neighborhood! We are already looking forward to future orders. Thanks a bunch Tomato Bob. We love the variety of seeds and the ease of ordering. I can't believe they were here in under a week! I would highly recommend this company if you want a good gardening experience to kick off the season!!

Feb 2011 I ordered 7 Heirloom Tomato seed packets, 2 Sweet Pepper seed packets, and 1 Cucumber seed packet. They all arrived promptly except for 1 missing Tomato seed packet. I called Seven Acre Seeds (evidently is also Tomato Bobs) and talked with a pleasant lady who shipped out the missing Tomato packet and some sampler seeds of which I do not have the space to plant. 1 planted Tomato was nothing even near to what it was described, (Big Rainbow) but was a good but a completely different tomato. Of the 2 Stupice planted, 1 died for no obvious reason. Possibly my fault, but none of the 3 or 4 Stupice seedlings ever looked as healthy as the other variety seedlings. Here is my major problem. I had room only for 8 of the Orange Sun Sweet Pepper plants. 5 of these 8 turned out to be an Orange Habanero Pepper plant. (Hot, Hot, Hot) They grew very well but took up the limited space I needed for the Orange Sun Sweet Pepper plants. I could not even give all of these hot peppers away. No more Seven Acres Seeds or Tomato Bobs for me.

I have been ordering from TomatoBob for several years - service has always been quick and I have received bonus seeds for fun additions to my garden. I know there have been some changes ( new name etc.) and wonder if reorganization caused some hiccups in their system last year? Don't give up on them, great tomatoes!

I ordered tomato plants from Tomato Bob/Seven Acre seeds at the end of April. The confirmation I got said that most orders ship within 48 hours, and I would receive a shipping notice when mine were sent out. It's now the end of May, and I have heard nothing and have not received the plants. I have called, emailed, and used their contact form multiple time to request an update, and I have not received a response to any of my inquiries. At this point, 1) it's really late to be planting out in zone 9b and 2) I'm going on vacation soon, so I don't even want the order. Yet I can't reach them to cancel. Their voicemail is now saying that all orders will ship by tomorrow, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I have ordered from Tomato Bob's several times over the past year, and have always been highly satisfied with the experience. The prices are reasonable, the specials are terrific, and the service has been timely and accurate, Tomato Bob has always sent at least one packet of free seed with my order, sometimes more than one. I would not hesitate to order from Tomato Bob's again in the future.

Posted on January 21, 2010, updated April 16, 2010 I just came upon this site and I could not believe that my favorite seed company had a neg. feedback! I have ordered seeds from Tomatobob for about 7 years and have NEVER had a single problem! Some years I have ordered twice! I have always had kind service, and excellent seeds. I have turned several friends on to them and they love them too. My germination rate is always wonderful, and I love the 25 cent specials that they run some months. I couldn't ask for better seeds or nicer folks. I really have to wonder if those other people have the right place!

On April 16th, 2010, benjachoo added the following: I just got my fourth order in the mail from this year! They run great 25 cent specials all the time and I can't get enough of them! Avoid this company if you actually want to grow your own vegetables. I ordered two types of chili's from this company and 17 days later, I had not received my seeds. I emailed them regarding the situation and wanted to know if the items had been sent and I have not been responded to. Unlike some of the other reviews, I will actually be receiving my money back because I ordered the items through PayPal. I am currently considering sending information to the better business bureau about TomatoBob so that these types of business practices will hopefully end. I am truly disgusted with being dragged down by this so called "business." As stated earlier, please avoid this company if you don't want to have the same experience as I did.

Great product, Great service. I started using Tomato Bob after meeting the man himself. Bob is very knowledgeable about his products and he takes Tomato’s seriously. I planted 10 different varieties last year and will be expanding this year. I placed my order by phone and had a wonderful conversation with the sweet lady that took my order. They always throw in extra fun seeds to plant and the tomatos always produce large yields, which is very important. I’ll spread the good word, and I’ll be back for more..

Received my seeds one week after placing my order. I was a bit concerned because I didn't get an acknowledgment after placing my order, but the order did come quickly, was packed very nicely and Bob was kind enough to include a sample packet of some cherry tomatoes... this worked out perfectly, because I wanted to try some but didn't think about that until after I'd already placed my order. It even included a page of seed starting tips, which I really appreciate since this is my first year growing from seed. My only suggestion would be for the company to add, if possible, some sort of acknowledgment system after an order is placed. I would definitely order from this company again!

Recently I order twice from Tomato Bob and almost everything was received in a timely manner. I was missing some Mortgage Lifter seeds from the first order. I emailed twice, but no reply. I am out $2.95. So, for me no big deal, but if the issue of non-fulfillment is as frequent as the reviews indicate, then overall it may be a big deal. I will certainly be hesitant to order again. Hopefully, the seeds I did receive will have decent germination and be true to the packaging. For now I will cross my fingers, grit my teeth, and smile. However, I will not be rushing out to the mailbox to see if the seeds arrived yet. I will get them somewhere else. Thanks for the rip-off tip-off!

I recently came across this site, and while I can't say that I have had a lot of experience with tomatobob.com I was surprised to see the negative feedback. I placed one order in March for about $26 using paypal, ordering a lot of 1940's price seeds, and received my seeds within a week. I ordered veggie seeds on June 17th, I paid with paypal. The same day I ordered I called the number listed to add to my order. They did not call back. A few days later, on the 22nd, I called again. By this time I had also not received an order confirmation, a call back about adding to my order or a shipping confirmation via paypal. I waited a couple more days with no call back and gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought they might just be really, really busy and email would be quicker. I emailed to two email addresses. I never heard back. Deciding that any company that can't be bothered to return a phone call or email does not want my business they left me no choice and I filed a claim with paypal. They also did not respond to the email that paypal sent them. 10 days later paypal decided in my favor and returned my money. I am a loyal customer. Once I find a place I like I tend to come back time and again. This company is certainly not one a person can feel loyal to. I'll take my time and money elsewhere.

I did receive my sends unlike some others on here. I was a skeptic after reading these reviews, but just left things alone to see what transpired. Well, my seeds arrived. I am giving a neutral because the website says 4-6 days for receipt. And, it took double that to get them. I think their site should say, add an extra week during peak season (and then specify the season). I do like the availability of the seeds. I am a huge mortgage lifter fan and wanted some seeds for my first garden attempt. These are the tomatoes my grandpa has been growing since he first started farming - and he`ll be 100 this year. I do plan on seed saving so hoping I don`t have to worry about this next year. To those who talk about germination problems I wonder if its temp control for the seeds. They need to be in a cool dark place (like basement). Once planted not over 75 degrees and not under 60/65 degrees until they are ready to be moved to your garden. Also, soil and fertilizers play a part - doubly so in heirloom varieties. These seeds were bred not for shelf life or durablity but for taste and boy do they deliver!!

On April 25th, 2009, kuppusamy changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following: I did change my review to a postive. I remembed that Tomato Bob sent me extra seeds to make up for the shipping delay. I even got a free sample of another variety of heirloom tomatoes to test. AND, extra seeds of what I already ordered. You can test your soil to see what its lacking and producing. This way you aren`t over fertlizing and can add just what your seeds need. Personally, I use a raised bed and have a HIGH yield! Same when starting your seeds, water, soil, and fertilzier can affect germination.

Worst purchasing experience of my entire fifty-five years... or, attempt at purchasing. Basically, this tomato bob... if he indeed exists... is a thief. I'm out almost sixty dollars... have received no seeds after payment almost seven weeks ago. I received no response to my email inquiries... and only one return phone call after trying to reach them many times... no, this "business" does not answer the phone. The woman who returned my call, curiously, stated exactly what the positive review below states: "Maybe you gave us the wrong contact information". No, I know where I live... they had the correct contact information. I suppose there are thieves in every arena. There are many wonderful seed companies out there... don't attempt to purchase from these criminals. Addendum: I really hope someone puts a stop to tomato bob's scam.

T. Bob's had no difficulty taking our payment... but unable to send our seeds or answer email inquiries as to where seeds are five weeks after order. After many phone calls (they never answer phone on this bogus "farm"), finally receive return phone call with ludicrous story about delay... two weeks more, still no seeds. Watch out Bob; lawyers garden, too. Buyer be very aware!
