I just found this company, and I'm so sad that they are retiring and leaving the business! I bought a Celeste fig, which was reasonably priced, arrived promptly, and was packaged with extreme care and in beautiful shape. It is doing well and beginning to leaf out. Great company, and I hope they enjoy their retirement, although it is a loss to the rest of us!

Great plants, great packing, very fair pricing and shipping costs. A truly great nursery offering figs, the only drawback is that they are retiring. To the owners, I hope your retirement is wonderful, you will be missed. ~Chills

Paradise Nursery is a treasure. I'm very grateful both to it and Sybil for helping to introduce me to the wonders of figs (both growing them and eating them!). Alas, they are going out of business after the spring 2007 season.

I bought a Celeste fig earlier this year. It was much bigger than I thought and has been growing ever since. I am growing it as a container plant for my zone 6. I already have baby figs! Thanks to all the info on their website I had the courage to give them a try even in my zone.

The trees are healthy, the packaging is excellent, the service is friendly and comprehensive, and the prices excellent. I have bought from them several times and will do again! Keith

Great Nursery, owners and plants. I drove down for the open house to get one plant and ended up with a truck full. Sybil was so helpful and knowledgeable. I will be buying grapes and blueberries in the future. The plants are much larger than anything I have ever ordered on line.

I ordered 10 fig trees and 1 pomegranate from paradise nursery. The only problem I have is why I didn't know about Rob and Sybil years earlier. The plants were healthy and looked great, Even the LSU PURPLE that they both thought wasn't good enough to ship. Glad I talked them into it. You can see that they take alot of pride on what they do, Good for a job well done I will be back next year to order more fig trees from them and other things.

This was my first time using Paradise Nursery, after reading wonderful reviews for about a year. I have been waiting for a whole year to order my fig trees from Paradise. I ordered 2 Strawberry Verte, and one Celeste.....all specials that were both on sale. Before I placed my orders, I called the nursery to speak to someone in person. Sybil, was extremely kind and helpful. She was very informatie, and excited to talk about figs with me! I wanted to order grape vines from Paradise as well, but they wouldnt hold up in my zone. Sybil referred me to a wonderful company in my area that specializes in grapes, Double A vineyards. The trees were packed wonderfully, and shipping was a breeze.....and relatively inexpensive also! THey waited as long as they could until the perfect time to ship them out. They arrived in PERFECT condition, and loaded with little figgies on them! I highly suggest this nursery for any of their products. Though, I havent tried all of their stuff, I know it will be top quality. The service and communication is top notch. Ordered muscadine grapes. So far, they're the only nursery I could find that was certified to ship muscadines to California. Excellent customer service. Responded quickly to inquiries and kept me informed about my order. My only concern was the cost of shipping, which we corresponded about. It was about half the cost of my order, but they really can't control that. The plants were perfectly and securely packaged and in pots, not bareroot in newspaper like others. And big too! Saving my pennies for next years order. Wish I lived closer...I'd love to visit their nursery.

I just ordered from them and haven't actually received my plants yet, but the service has been outstanding--fast personal responses to my planting questions.

I have been a customer of Paradise Nursery for about 4 or 5 years now. Their fig trees are the best. My plants always arrive in excellent condition and the packing job is superb. They have a great variety to choose from. They are most friendly to deal with and I highly recommend them to anyone. My fig crop last year was amazing. I gave a lot away and had ample for us and to share. I made fig bread (and froze it) and upside down fig cake with some of them. Check out their website for the recipes. If you have never tasted a fresh fig, you are truly missing out. Figs are easy to grow and they grow fast! Paradise Nursery is #1!

Visited Paradise Nursery this weekend. It was about an hour and 45 min drive from where we live but I had read alot of good things on this site about them, so thought I'd give it a shot. We'll we got there and parked in front of about 5 to 6 greenhouses clearly marked with what kinds of plants were inside. I immediately went hunting for my Triple Crown Blackberries. To my surprise, these plants were VERY green, large, and healthy. I shortly thereafter got to meet Sybil and asked some question of her about propogating the plants etc etc. Sybil was VERY helpfull & knowledgeable and was very pleasant to talk with. She led me around showing me different types of figs and let me sample them directly from the tree - My gosh, they were good! I just had to buy a Celeste after that. Anyhow, I finished up buying Blackberries and got to meet Rob - he gave me a really good deal on the 3 gallon plants ( Thanks Rob ! ). I think I wound up with 6 plants total this time, all the while my daughter & Wife found the "goodies" table and had lemonade, tea, dried figs, and oatmeal cookies made with figs. I can not possibly say enough great things about this company!!They are A plus!They ship very very healthy plants!I ordered 2 fig tree's and they were packed so so well(perfect!!!)Then I oreded another fig tree from them and it also arived safely.And is a beautiful tree!! I like there plant so well and there wonderful costumer servise,That I cant wait till next year so I can have more of there beautiful plants!!Both of them will help you with anything you can ask.They are truly peopple friendly.And they run A great business!!

DITTO all of that's written! I first emailed them about grape growing back in Oct '02 & Sybil emailed me a bunch of links on how to grow grapes. Then she sent me more info & didn't push me into buying from them! I was impressed with all the info she gave me & I didn't even order then! ( I did tell others about Paradise N. though) I recently ordered 2 fig trees & also was impressed that they emailed me when they shipped-- &... plants were perfect. Am looking for more to order just because they are so nice & REALLY take care of their customers. The time that Sybil takes to email, & Rob takes to pkg. all is amazing! Keep it up Sybil & Rob!!

I can only underscore what everyone else has said about Sybil and Rob Mays and their service at Paradise Nursery. Sybil answers every question immediately. I had not doubt about the quality of their trees from all of her answers and the reports that I read. When I saw the UPS man come whistling up my driveway with the box containing my fig tree horizontally tucked under his arm, I had visions of opening the box with dirt spilling out and a mangled, possibly broken tree. I was totally amazed to open the box and find not one bit of dirt out of place. The way that Rob packed the fig, it showed that he anticipated every possible way that the box could be tipped and the fig, the pot and the dirt remain totally in place. The fig was the 36” that was promised, with healthy leaves and already sporting four small figs. In my opinion, Paradise Nursery must be one of the top mail order nurseries in the country. They deliver all of their promises and more.

I can't begin to say how pleased I am with my experience. Rob and Sybil, the owners, have been just great to work with. The plants I received are so superior to my local options. The plants were packed so carefully that I doubt they suffered much stress at all. This is a company you can order from in full confidence and you will not be disappointed.

This nursery is THE GREATEST. My plants arrived, carefully boxed, like precious jewels. The packing was meticulous, using brand new material. The plants were in one-gallon pots, and fully rooted, as promised. The pruning of the plants appeared to have been done with a scalpel. Sybil (the owner) was a paragon of information with the myriad of questions I posed to her. And the instructions and hints included within the container, made it easy for me to maintain confidence as I replanted my figs. I trust that the eating wiill be just as exciting an experience.

I just got the first of two fig tree orders from Paradise Nursery and I can't begin to describe how HEALTHY, GORGEOUS and ENORMOUS these fig trees are! Customer service (Sybil) was outstanding...my fig trees were held until it was safe to ship to my area (Minnesota)and any/all questions I had regarding container growing fig trees were answered quickly and completely. This is also one of the few sources for fig trees, as I understand it, where an intense effort is made to only propigate and sell FMV free fig trees! I can't wait to get the next order sometime next week...and will DEFINITELY be ordering two more fig trees next year! This company and their plants live up to all of the GREAT THINGS that their customers say about them!

This company went beyond my expectations. My 2 Pineapple Guavas came to me extremely well packed in containers. Even though they had been in shipment several days they were still very moist. They had the container double bagged with plastic and the moisture was retained very well. These are some very healthy looking plants, much larger than I expected. Customer service is very personal and I can't say enough about how nice, helpful and informative Sybil was. I am very pleased and will order from this company again without any reservations. I recently received a pomegranate tree and a fig tree that I ordered. The packaging was incredible! No amount of UPS beating would have damaged those trees. I was surprised by how large both were, the pom is especially lovely. The e-mail response on my order was swift and personal which is always gratifying. If I can figure out a way to squeeze any more trees onto my property, I'll be sure to order again soon.

I ordered a fig tree. It arrived as promised and was in good condition. They will get more business from me.

I ordered 5 fig trees and a pineapple guava on 3/17, and I recieved them all on 3/25. They were all shipped in 1 gallon pots that were wrapped to prevent soil loss, in boxes that were ingeniously structurally reinforced to prevent movement of the pots and damage to plants. Certainly one of the best packing jobs I've ever seen for mailorder plants, and I was very happy to see that they were not bare rooted. All are between 2 and 3 feet tall. 3 of the figs are single stems, 1/2 to 3/4", very sturdy. 2 of the figs are well branched, and one (violette) has 3 long branches that on arrival were already holding 14 developing figs, up to 1/2". The pineapple guava is a beautiful, full, bushy, 2 & 1/2 foot tree with many branches and very densely leaved- very healthy and happy and much more full and leafy than I expected. The figs were all dormant when I recieved them a week ago, but all are leafing out very quickly and stems are growing in all directions already. Their website has a very detailed set of growing tips of figs that is helpful.. My experience couldn't have been better- I'm ordering the rest of their fig trees this week.

I was lucky enough to visit the nursery last week on one of their open house days and had a wonderful experience. They were very friendly and informative. All the plants looked healthy and I ended up buying a couple of Feijoa's (pineapple guava's). It was well worth the trip out to see the place and meet the owners.

I am so impressed with the quality of the plants I received from Paradise Nursery! The plants were in excellent condition when they arrived, the packing was truly unbelieveable. I have never seen plants packed so well! As to service and support Rob and Sybil are models that other companies would do well to copy. When I first began this purchase from Paradise Nursery I talked with Rob for quite a long time about their Blackberries. Rob was most helpful and answered my questions in a very professional and knowledgeable manner. After my order was placed I began corresponding with Sybil via E-mail and again Sybil answered all my E-mails/questions very promptly! The plants are without question the best in terms of health and size, I have ever ordered, and I have ordered from some of the well known companies. Now that I have discovered Paradise Nursery I don't plan to be ordering plants from any other source. It has truly been an enjoyable experience doing business with Rob and Sybil.

They answered all of my emails promptly, gave me lots of pictures via email, their trees are nicely-priced, arrive on time and ALIVE (are some of you other companies reading this?). I recommend them without reservation. Good people to buy from.

I live in Virginia Beach and visited this nursery last Nov. They have a fairly good variety of plants as listed on the web. The prices are very reasonable compared to some mailorder com- panies,for me it's even better because I can select the plants myself and not pay shipping. Bought pomegrenate and pineapple guavas(feijoas) to use as hedge to replace my dead red tips. I plan to go back in April to buy more. The plants are much bigger and healthier than the ones I got from another company (mailorder). I recommend Paradise anytime.

I recently ordered and recieved blueberry and blackberry plants from Paradise. The plants arrived in excellent condition due to the careful packaging. The container was reinforced with wooden stays which I found very impressive. I am fairly new to gardening and have no experience with blueberries or blackberries. Sybil took the time to answer all of my questions and to help me identify a plant I have but couldn't name, as well as offering advise on creating a garden. All of this was done in the 6 or 8 months before I placed my first order. Just nice people who enjoy what they do and helping us dummys. I look forward to doing business with these new friends in the future and would feel very comfortable asking for their help or advise should I encounter any problems with my new plants. BEST company I have dealt with on-line and I do 95% of all shopping by internet. Cannot say enough good about this company and their top-notch customer service. Informative website with quality photos and helpful growing info. E-mail inquiries about choices for my locale were answered promptly and were personal and professional. Timely notice of receipt of order and shipping allowed for easy tracking. Packaged with care. Figs and pomegranate look great. Will update when we have some growth. I will be a repeat customer!

we ordered 2 figs, 2 grapes, 2 kiwis from paradise. the shipping was very good, packaging great and on time. everything grew well this year (2003) and we are very, very pleased with them. their customer service is wonderful and they are more than happy to talk with you via email or phone about your plants and how to set them up (i.e. my kiwi and grape vines --- location, etc.) i would do business with them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a variety of fruit/nut trees.

I ordered 3 gardenia bushes earlier this year. The customer service is FANTASTIC!!! The plants arrived healthy. I would order from this company again!

Terrific customer service and beautiful plants. I ordered two fig trees, which were shipped in pots (instead of bareroot). I got an e-mail the day it shipped, so I could track the shipping. Before ordering, owner was very helpful in answering my e-mail questions regarding raising figs in containers in zone 5. Great experience!

I purchased 4 figs from Paradise the spring of 2003. They were the most customer oriented mail order that I've bought from. They advised of shipment, provided great packaging, and exceptional plants. All trees have started growing and appear to be very vigorous and healthy.......I'm looking forward to purchasing additional varieties. GREAT JOB PARADISE !!!!!!

I ordered some Italian Golden Honey fig trees from Paradise last fall. They were very accomodating about shipping time and when the plants arrived they were beautiful large, healthy plants. I would do business with them again with no hesitation!
