I ordered from this company and paid by check I also followed their instructions for completing the order. However I mistakenly subtracted $5.00 for over $100. dollars worth of seeds that I was told not entitled to so they shorted the order the one package of seeds with I will send it later and then asked me to remit the remainder of the money after I waited over 3 days for a response I canceled the remaining package of seeds and received no answer to my questions Just that it was accepted to cancel the seeds and the balance owing. All this company had to do was send the order explain why their was a balance and I would have remitted the balance. They would have had a very happy customer and I would have ordered again. I think that what bothered me the most was telling me the package of seeds would be shipped later not why. I guess its alright for your order to be perhaps over paid and the customer has to trust that they will honer the credit but not the other way around.

I will never use this company again. When they do not ship an item, which is often, they still charge your credit card but then send you a credit voucher. If you were not going to order anything again you have just bought your self a credit voucher you will never use. Then we submitted the credit voucher this year, only making an order to use it, and the main item we ordered was not shipped. Except this time they never refunded our money or gave us a credit voucher. We will go through our credit card company for a refund.

Ordered 3 seed varieties, and all grew beautifully, (particularly the yellow evening primrose), and are currently thriving in the garden. Only teeny complaint is the lack of pictures on the seed packets, and the teeny tiny printed instructions. (The eyes ain't what they used to be). Although the packets are still quite informative and easy to follow. Was very pleased with the quick shipping time, as well.

I ordered some bulbs and a couple perennials from Dominion Seed House this year and they arrived quickly, at a good time for planting, well packaged, and in good shape. Many bulbs were nice and plump (larger than what I found available locally and larger than I was expecting). I would order from Dominion again.

I will probably not order anything again from them in the near future, unless its something I absoultely have to have. I’ve ordered both seed and plants from this company, seeds are ok but much more expensive compared to other seed companies I've ordered from. Very disappointed with their plants though, very small and unhealthy. Another unfavourable reason is that they don’t guarantee most of their plants for zone 2b when in fact they are hardy for are climate. I too will give them a neutral since they did credit/replaced my complaints.

I have been ordering from Dominion Seed House for a few years now and have always been pleased with the quality of their plants and seeds. I too have found, as others before me have indicated, that they rarely let you know ahead of time when a plant is unavailable - simply marking it so on your invoice at shipping time. This practice, however, is most certainly not unique to Dominion. Many other mail order companies do the same. On the other hand, they have always notified me when an item is going to be available, but later than anticipated. This is much nicer than many companies' habit of simply marking the item on the invoice "back ordered" or "separate shipment - see note". In fact they added a more personal touch concerning a late item this year by actually sending out a letter to my mailing address, even though my order was placed over the web and they have my email address on file. They seem to be trying to please. Most times a company rarely hears when they are doing things right - more often they only hear about it when they have displeased someone. Maybe if they hear more about the little pleasures they give us they will be more inclined to add a few more.

Try www.dominion-seed-house.com/en-CA/default.aspx for a website link. I just ordered a catalogue from there with no trouble. Perhaps they were updating their site when you last tried. I've had very good service and plants from this company in the past. Usually carry some new and unique perennials, and their customer service is spot on.

I recieved my catalogue and can not log onto their web page to place an order. Even through Dave's Garden there is a link and the link here does not work. Are they having a problem with their site?

I ordered from this company this spring.I was satisfied with the seeds, but the live plants were less than desireable. I recieved almost dead plants and others had lots of white growth. Obviously they had been sitting in the boxes longer than during shipping. I know of others that had the same complaint. I am posting a neutral experience because I was credited for the plants that didn't make it with no other questions asked.

Today, Oct. 19, 2006, we received some perennial plants we had ordered from Dominion Seed House. The company received our order, via fax, on Monday and we received the plants today (Thursday). Very speedy. The package came by Xpresspost (Canada Post) and was well worth the shipping price we paid as the plants were well-packed and healthy. This was the first time we ordered plants by mail but it won't be the last time. We give Dominion Seed House an A+ rating.

I just received the bulbs that I ordered from this company and I'm very pleased. The bulbs look great, the packing was well done and the order arrived in a timely fashion. I will order from them again.

I like this Canadian company for perennials. It has a good free catalogue, you can choose your shipping week. The requirement to order a minimum of three plants of each type is ok because they look best in groups of 3 in the garden in any case. Plants arrive remarkably well packaged IN POTS, with green leaves protected and perky. Some other suppliers supply much smaller bare roots in little baggies. A label is provided with each plant, saving considerable time when planting (a big improvement over a bit of wood written on with a marker! LOL) Shipping is fairly expensive but price of individual plant is less than my local. Communications are excellent. I got an immediate credit for one missing begonia corm. I have not ordered seeds because they are indeed very expensive. I will certainly order plants again.

Just today, Sept. 29. 2005 I wrote to Dominion Seed House to report that 2 of my 5 Plants I ordered this year did very poorly, one has died the other is still the same size that I received it at and the leaves look poorly and curling up. I planted both in a pot right away upon arrival, did not want to set them out in the garden since they were very fragile. I am sure I will receive a Credit note for the amount the plants cost me so I can use that credit for next years plants. Dominion Seed House has always responded favourably to my requests and did send me a credit note when the situation called for. Dominions plants always arrive very carefully packed and in good condition. I like the fact that you can choose the date of shipment and that the Plants always arrive right on time. The one thing I find about Dominions Plants though, they are rather small , meaning the roots are farly new and therefore less developed. A more established root work on a plant guarantees a better start for the plant in my opinion. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to voice my opinion of the Dominion Seed House in Georgetown, Canada.

I have ordered seeds, bulbs, and live plants from there for the past 5 years. I find they have an excellent selection and the live plants have always arrived in good shape. Since I can ask for which week I want delivery, I am prepared for their arrival and can take prompt action with them. The bulbs have been a good size and have done well.

I think that their web site has a virus. When ever I try to go there I get a pop up window that says 'pop up' and when I try to close it it says 'Pop Down'. Then my computer freezes and I have to reboot. I am not suggesting that others shun the site, simply be forewarned that you may experience troubles.

Maybe this should be "neutral" but here goes. I have never ordered plants & bulbs, but often order seeds. Some seeds reasonably priced/fair quantities - others are incredibly overpriced for minute quantities & you should definitely shop around & know what you're getting. Watch out for the sweet peppers - much cheaper elsewhere for same varieties for some reason. Orders come quickly; items are correctly labelled; generally accurate descriptions & growing info. Still mourn for the days when Dominion was an independent seed house before being purchased by Perron; my mother ordered from Dominion for over 30 years - a high point of spring was the arrival of the box of seeds with the logo of the horse pulling the plow. Oh well.

Dominion has a lovely catalog, with many different and unusual things- this year the 2003 catalog is no exception- I have always had good luck with their seeds and live plants, as did my mother before me- many years ago- . I plan on sending in my order on Monday, and as always, I look forward to receiving it.

I've been ordering from Dominion for many years now and in general have been rather pleased. Now alot of their perennials are being grown and shipped potted with most all arriving in fine form. Yes, there has been troubles with misnamed plants and that indeed is a BIG problem in the nursery trade and not at all exclusive to Dominion. Customer relations have been good and credits issued for such mislabled plants. Often I believe customers do NOT take proper care of plants upon arrival! Many have come directly from being grown on in greenhouses and do poorly being set out and subjected to harsh spring conditions. I often harden them off or pot up and grow on in a greenhouse any plants in which may have arrived looking a bit on the weak side. Be careful NOT to over water your new arrivals as this will quickly do them in! Alot of people seem to think plants should be able to take just about anything you or nature can throw at them. I most definitely will let any nursery know when I'm displeased with their product ... my money is always good is it not! But, on the other hand, I do give praise where praise is do! I NEVER ask for a refund on something that has arrived healthy and due to MY neglect has died ... is that not only fair? I've been ordering from Dominion for nearly twenty five years and if I had not been pleased that relationship would have long been severed! Reading the above reports about bad bulbs ... sorry, Domionion I think there's NO excuse for that! For those that do not wish to be surprised by substitutes .... ALWAYS mark this on your order and such problems will be avoided! Some might complain about receiving shurbs and such which are grown in small pots ... example: the spiraeas offered. These I call a deal as will develop quickly and are reasonably priced. They also offer many interesting and unusual plants. I would give Dominion a thumbs up! Hope these detailed comments may be helpful to some! Terry

I have had very poor experience ordering plants from Dominion Seed House. I ordered ten plants, all perennials. They all arrived small and in generally poor condition, five of them died, and the others didn't manage to flower in their first year. I have had better experience ordering seeds (but how can they mess that up?).

I have been ordering seeds and plants from Cominion for a number of years. I enjoy their colourful catalogue. They have a number of unusual plants and seeds that I can't find elsewhere. Their plants arrive at the specified time. This year I had a few live plants die before I could get them in the ground but was issued a credit. I will order from them again.

I have been ordering plants and seeds from Dominion for 3 years now, and they have gone downhill badly. They often don't tell you plants are out of stock until your shipment arrives, and then it is too late to find elsewhere. Also the plants sometimes arrive dead or damaged.I kept ordering, as they have varieties of plants I can't get anywhere else. They will refund you, but that is not the point. The worst problem I have had is this year with bulbs I planted last fall. They arrived very small, many of then dessicated and shrivelled. I tried planting them anyways-This spring was a huge dissapointment! my tulips were the wrong variety, and of all the different species of bulbs I planted (6), about 90% did not flower at all. The daffodils were supposed to be mixed and are of the cheap yellow variety, very small plants. I have been growing bulbs for years, and this is NOT normal. I can say one positive-seeds are usually pretty good quality. bulbs and plants-forget it! J

I just received the 2002 Spring catalogue from Dominion Seed House, what I really like about their catalogue is that listed above all their flower seed varieties, they have "Usage Codes", I find these codes very helpful. The "Usage Codes" are symbols for the following: Border plant, Rock garden, Flower bed, Flower box/pot, Climber, Dried flowers, Hanging plant, Fragrant flower, Moist soil (which is what I have), Cut flower, Ground cover, Dry soil and Edible plant. They also list sowing month, number of days for seed germination, ideal germination temperature, exposure, blooming period. All this information is invaluable when planning next years garden. I am going to order perennial seeds from them and will let you know how they fare.

I have ordered from this company for 3 years now. I have ordered seeds and live plants. Both have come in excellent shape. The free catalogue is great with many colour pictures and good descriptions. When ordering live plants, you can specify what week you want then shipped to arrive in time for your zone's planting. The plants arrived as stated and in great shape. I would not hesitate to order from this company again and again.
