A message to our valued customers:

We decided to make some major changes at Greenheart Farms at the end of the 2009 season. We have ceased to be a retail mail order company so that we can focus all of our efforts on developing our wholesale miniature rose business. There are several reasons for this change.

WHY DID WE CLOSE OUR RETAIL BUSINESS?
=======================================
- We are not selling enough roses through our retail services to support this business.

- We are primarily a wholesale propagation company and doing retail over the past five and a half years has stretched us beyond our limits.

- We are competing against our wholesale customers.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO MOVING FORWARD & HOW WILL YOU BE ABLE TO FIND NOR' EAST AND TINY PETALS MINIATURE ROSES?
==========================================
- We house the largest collection of miniature roses in the United States and will continue to maintain this library of miniature varieties.

- We will be working with all of our friends at the other mail-order companies to make sure they are provided with high quality miniature varieties and all of our new introductions. Contact them and let them know which varieties are your favorites so they have time to order them from us and have them ready for you next season.

- We will be working with your local nurseries providing them with high quality miniature varieties and all of our new introductions. Contact them and let them know your favorite varieties so they have time to order them from us and have them ready for next season.

- We will be offering licenses for propagation of our varieties to other large propagation nurseries so they can move forward with our diverse offering of miniature roses.

Our goal is emulate the business models of Star Roses and Weeks Roses by being providers of excellent wholesale material, allowing mail-order companies and local retail outlets to provide you with our diverse offering of miniature roses. Help us get the word out to the mail order companies or your local supplier and keep these great varieties available!

Will I still be able to find information on the Nor’ East roses I own or like after you close?
=====================================
- We intend to keep an online reference available after June 30, 2009 through mid-2010.

Can my local Rose Society still order plants from you?
=====================================

Good luck finding any of Dee Bennett's Tiny Petals roses. John's Miniature Roses is gone. Rosemania no longer sells roses. Northland Rosarium has no miniatures available. I haven't heard back from Burlington because they have no website and you have to contact them via e-mail. So for all their talk and promises, looks like they failed to be good stewards of Dee Bennett's life's work. So many of her tiny petals are now lost. I only hope those that have them will share cuttings and keep her legacy alive.

Received my roses yesterday, they look good. Did not get what all I ordered, however. NO responses to leaving them voicemail about it, either. Doesn't matter, can't order from them in the future anyways and I know that none of my LGS will be ordering from them (I already asked). Shame.

Only ordered once from Nor'East. I had thought to put in a couple of miniature roses more or less as 'annuals' and had no expectations. Well those little guys have been coming back and blooming every year for 5 years now. I take no credit all I do is weed them. They must have gotten a really fabulous start in life! Maybe I should get some more..

I had purchased an order for a 5 mini's. One of which ended up being sold out but they shipped at my request this week (last week of April). They arrived today and look AWESOME. One of them is even blooming. Definately will purchase from them again.

I ordered 16 minis last weekend and when I reviewed my order I realized I had left out one rose I really wanted. I called them on Monday and I was able to add the rose and the very helpful woman on the phone also suggested that I remove a rose that was not as hardy and substitute. I am zone 5 and not having the roses shipped until the first week in June and there is one more rose I want that is not available yet. When I asked about adding it to the order I was told just call back when it is available and it can be added. I am very happy with the experience.

I placed an order with Nor' East Miniature Roses about three weeks ago. I am positing a neutral comment because I realize that my shipping date is not until later this month and I have not yet contacted the company to express my concerns about the fact that I received no confirmation email regarding, what I consider a large order for 10 roses that totaled $87.50. I wonder though, will I get notice via email that the shipment has been sent so that I can prepare for the plants (new plants are like new babies to me I want to be prepared to give them all the best as soon as they are added to my garden family). There was a discount applied, which was a pleasant surprise and a plus towards ordering from this company again. The selection was amazing and I am encouraged by the fact that miniature roses (my favorite of all rose types, appear to be a specialty (which indicates a mastery of growing healthy, hardy plants). I'm also encouraged by the positive feedback I've found here at Dave's Garden. I will contact the company directly to ask about the lack of order confirmation and possible shipping confirmation and post feedback based on that experience as well as the quality of roses I receive (I assume) in late April (after April 22).

On April 15th, 2009, JMKM1976 added the following: I sent an email to Nor'East to cancel my order today, not because of a negative experience, I have every reason to believe that the staff at Nor'East Miniature Roses has done everything possible to retrieve and process the missing order. However, for both parties, I'd like clear the slate and simply try again. I do not have a copy of the items I ordered. I merely know the cost of the items I ordered and how many items there were in my cart when I checked out. I will return to the site in the next couple days and place a new order that won't be complicated by computer errors. These things can happen to anyone and shouldn't be held against them, especially when a company tries as hard as Nor'East to make amends and correct the problem.

This was a first time order from Nor'East, but will certainly not be my last. I have always thought mini-roses pretty but was never interested in growing any as I believed they were totally scentless. Well, I don't think that anymore! All five of the roses I ordered were highly fragrant. The order arrived with all plants lushly leafed out and healthy, in extra long pots, every one with multiple buds, PLUS the one packed on top had a deeply perfumed open rose for me to enjoy the minute I opened the carton. Ahhhhh! I liked that there was an instruction sheet included with the order with hints on how to perk up your new plants to minimize 'shipping shock' and suggestions regarding planting your new roses. Good experience overall!

I ordered 3 minis from Nor'East via regular mail. Since I did not order on line, of course I did not receive a conformation. So I emailed them and asked if they could send me a conformation and if possible a shipping date. I received an answer back via a very nice email from a real person the very same day with the conformation and a shipping date! My minis arrived on time as promised and in excellent condition. In fact Starina has 2 buds! This was my first time ordering from Nor'East and I will keep ordering from them. Excellent customer service and roses!

I join the rank of those who adore Nor'East. What a wonderful nursery this is! Plants are healthy, shipped prompty and staff is very customer service minded. I got a gift last year which came from Nor'East. The plants have done so well I bought a couple more. There was a small clerical error which delayed my order 1 mo. so I was sent a bonus as a "sorry for the inconvenience". I am thrilled beyond words. I wholeheartedly recommend this nursery.

Nor'East is a FABULOUS mail order source for roses!!! Literally every rose I have received from them is healthy, robust and undamaged upon receipt. Many have buds and bloom within a week of arrival. I have never received a mislabeled rose from Nor'East and they all grow true to the descriptions. Their ordering process is simple and communication regarding order and shipment is superb. Nor'East is by far the most reliable source for miniature, mini-flora and quite a few floribunda own-root roses. A++++ grower!!!!

i love ordering minis from nor-east BUT this time i'm not happy with my latest order i got today. two roses had no leaves they were pruned down to nothing!. why this was done is there own reason but heres my problem its 96 degrees outside which means i have to baby them and hope they leaf out again. also the 3rd rose is supposed to be doubletake but- no tag! getting sloppy ! hopefully the 2 roses make it , if not they will need to replace them.

Last spring I ordered from this company for the first time. I wanted to put the roses in hanging baskets. My order arrived in excellent condition; healthy plants and packaged well. The roses did extremely well - even though we had a very, very dry summer. This year I was shocked when all made it through the winter (albeit a very mild one). The roses were in such excellent condition. This spring I ordered more - some for a border and some for pots. Again, wonderful, healthy plants arrived. Just placed another order for filling in some bare areas around the house. Very pleased with Nor'east and would certainly recommend them.

I can hardly wait to order again this year. I ordered for the first time last summer (around July) and was so amazed by the size/quality of the plants which arrived ready to bloom that I immediately placed another order. Most made it through the winter without problems but I do have to replace a few that the Siberian huskies demolished or the geese stepped on (sigh). My fault....I need to protect these little babies until they are woody enough to hold up to my animals. Bottom line is that these roses were much much nicer than those I ordered from another miniature rose company at the same time. I'll stick with Nor-East!

I've ordered probably 100 or more roses from this firm. Experiences have been good. Great service, great packaging. The roses arrive picture perfect - they look like they are grown in a greenhouse. They end up looking rather different in the real world of my no-spray garden. However, I ordered a rose in sufficient quantities to finish my rose border - the order went through on the site, but I was later told that they had discontinued the variety and they could only partially fill my order. Considering that I had been slowly accumulating the plants to build a border, I was really disappointed. I was further disappointed that the customer service rep was rather rude and essentially told me tough luck. I requested that they propagate enough roses to satisfy my order, but the customer service rep said no way and suggested another cultivar instead (one that has a markedly different flower size and bush size). So, I am left with 1/2 of a finished border. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I really feel like this is a totally corporate, money-driven firm. Too bad! I'll take my business elsewhere whenever possible in the future - especially to the small growers who put customers first.

On August 24th, 2007, queenofthegarde changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: I had a call today from Nor'East. They had read my comments here on GW and wanted to fix the problem. WIthin an hours time, they tracked down plants to fulfill my canceled order (at least in part - the minimum quantity I needed to finish my border). They plan to acquire the plants, harden them off in their greenhouse, and ship them to me as soon as possible! I really appreciate the extra effort to fill my order even though they have discontinued the variety. Also, they wanted to share that they are indeed a small business and did not want to be associated with a cold corporate image. I really feel better about the situation and am glad that NorEast cares about the happiness of their customers.

I received my first order from this company and all I can say is "WOW!" I opened the packaging, which arrived within a week of my order, and THREE of the four roses I ordered had blooms on them and the fourth has buds which look like they'll be opening any day now. They're healthy, good sized and were packaged very well. I have already ordered another six roses from them and will be getting my freebie through the American Rose Society (they offer a nice deal for ARS members, by the way - you can join your ARS at www.ars.org). Thanks, Nor'East for the great shipment and for supporting your American Rose Society members! Walker Gardens (Kristin and Joe Walker)

First order from this company. They shipped when they said they would and the roses got here in only 4 days (all the way across country - so really good). I opened them up last night and was impressed by the packaging and condition of the plants. Next time I order minis, I will be looking up Nor'East Miniture Roses!

On June 15th, 2007, cfarres added the following: A couple of weeks after my order arrived, The Absolutely rose bloomed. Only one problem - the rose was pure red and Absolutely is a yellow blend. None fo the other roses were supposed to be a pure red either. I called them up and explained the problem. I was then given a shipping date for the replacement plant - no hassle, no questions - very easy. My replacement came in on Wednesday (only 3 days to go completely across country) and the little buds on it were yellow, so I know it is marked correctly. This pllant also got here in very good shape. So, their customer service is as good as the quality of the roses they send. The can count on me being a repeat customer!

Received roses from them on 4/5/07. All were very well packaged and seemed to suffer very little damage from shipping. A bit later some shipping shock has occurred with yellowing of leaves, but that seems to be resolving now as they settle in. currently still to cold at night for them to be planted so they are waiting in pots under light. They are very well leafed, budded, and several are blooming. Staff was courteous and very helpful. I'll defintely order more roses from them! Alison,

This company better STOP what they are doing..which is to produce the healthiest mini-roses around! If they don't I will go broke.. I have ordered now close to a hundred mini's from Nor'East and what a treat when I get my order. In this batch I just got, 6 out of the 7 had at least 2 to 3 buds on them. One had two fully opened flowers on them. They are just so green and healthy and not to mention to variety they offer. I am also happy to see the Tiny Petals collection included. Wednesday, October 5th, I placed an order online and received a confirmation email. On Monday the 10th and on the 11th got emails stating there was a problem with the payment. I was using a friend's credit card and they wanted to confirm it. My friend called them up, let them know the credit card belonged to them and explained I had permission. I was told my order would be sent out within a day or two. Haven't heard back from them. Sent about two or three emails, one just the other day saying I haven't been notified about my order and if it's not sent then I will ask for a refund. Granted, I didn't order much, just the Spice Drop and the rose recipe book, but it's the principle of the thing. I paid for those items and have yet received them. I only ordered from them because they were a link on Edmunds' roses and at the time I couldn't find somewhere else to get microminiature roses. Since then, fortunately, I have found a company with a better reputation on this site. I will keep on hounding them until I get a full refund or my order.

On November 10th, 2005, imnoangel added the following: Recieved an email today. Not surprised since I told them I would soon ask for a refund that they show their face. Said the order had not been processed yet because they haven't taken the money out. Supposedly, they have not been able to get the credit card to go through. I'm going to give them one more chance because I'm getting fed up with them. So much for customer service!
On November 19th, 2005, imnoangel changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: I received an email Friday morning, sent Thursday, from another employee at Nor'East. She explained the problems they had, that when when the order was processed, the credit card authorizing company apparently did not recognize the transaction. That was unknown to me. I was told that due to the amount of time the original order came in, that they would go ahead and send me my order, the arrival date being Friday the 18th. I'm out of town at the moment, but someone was aware of the package. It did show up on the date mentioned and I was informed it arrived with blooms and buds, in good condition, along with the book. I am pleased with this person's idea of business. She explained to me the problem with processing my order, not just saying the money wasn't taken out, conducting herself in an orderly fashion. I was going to get a Money Order next week and pay for my order that way, which I'm still going to do. Now I know the problem lay with the credit card company and not with Nor'East I might do business with them. Guess I'll stick to MO's.

If I could click on positive 10 times, I would! I just got 8 minature roses from Nor'east Miniature Roses and I have never been happier with an internet rose order in all my time of ordering roses this way. Every lovely mini rose was healthy, full, totally green (not a yellow leaf to be found), most were budding and about half were blooming. They all had new growth and were very very healthy looking roses. Not only that, but I got a great deal....buy 3 get 1 free with free shipping! What a great sale! I loved them so much, I ordered 4 more from them and also placed an order for 4 more for a friend as a birthday present. I trust them THAT much!!! I can't think of another vendor I would trust to send perfect roses that would be worthy of gift-giving! I ordered 6 roses (plus 1 cracker jack rose) from Nor'East last fall and planted them outside later. They all survived the winter and I even had a few blooms in the fall after planting them. They were well packaged and very lush and green. This spring and summer they are all in bloom and very lovely. The prices were reasonable and the information on planting and growing them was informative and helpful. I have a few miniature roses that were purchased at local hardware stores, but I may replace them with some more colorful varieties from Nor'East. Great roses and I have already recommended them to friends and family as being more hardy and disease resistant than grafted varieties. I have not had any problems with disease and even the aphids haven't really affected them. Great plants!

On July 23rd, 2005, vixiera added the following: I had another recent experience with Nor'East. I had a question about a climber I had ordered from them last fall as the tag showed it being a 16-20" mini rose. My e-mail was promptly replied to (within 24 hours) and I was even offered a replacement on the rose, along with an explanation that the one I had received is indeed a climber. I was happy that my original order was correct, but also impressed with their desire to make sure I was satisfied by offering to replace the rose in question. Now all I need to do is find room for more mini roses so I can place another order!

I was an old customer before they changed (even used to go to the old Massachusetts farm to see the roses in person). In 2004 I ordered a new set of minis, and was glad to see the roses were still good quality, still reasonably priced, and so on.

The website failed to explain that a street address was needed for shipping. No clue even by letting me know the method of shipping (e.g. FEDEX). When a customer service rep called to request my street address, she failed to lift the permanent hold on shipping, even though she gave me a ship date. After the ship date came and went by two days I called. The service I received on the phone was less than spectacular, close to rude. At least I was promptly given a credit, although I feel compelled to verify on my credit card statement in case someone "forgot" again. I never got to find out the quality of the product because I could not get past the poor service on the website and two phone calls.

I received a whole carton of healthy roses, all with buds and several in bloom 4 days after I ordered them. I am going to plant them in the ground so they will need to get used to the outdoors for a couple of weeks. This is the second time I have ordered and all the plants have been perfect. Plus, they have the most wonderful fragrant varieties.

The mini's I receive from this company amaze me. This years order was already in bloom and one plant was already about 15" tall. Everything is healthy and vigorous. Last years order was just as nice. I received my order in less than a week from placing it. I am really impressed. The 'crackerjack' rose they sent with my order is also beautiful & healthy.

I love miniature roses, and this time around I decided to buy the best I could find---intended for planting outdoors. And *boy* did I get them! What a wonderful company! Out of 6 roses received a week ago, 3 are blooming in multiple and all were healthy, clean, disease-free and in perfect health! Out of all, my favorite has ended up being the 1/2 price special they throw in with the purchase of 5. Superb plants, excellent prices, wonderful communication with the buyer. I couldn't recommend buying miniature roses from any other company. They have some unusuals I've never seen before. I recommend them highly!

I ordered my first mini-roses with a few friends and was absolutely delighted with all 12 they sent. Each one was fully leafed out and had buds or blooms! I didn't know how special this was until the competitors order came in (a day later) with not a leaf or bud on a single one of them, I also would highly recommend them! Thank you Nor'East!

Just received two of my three orders from them. All seven plants looked very healthy. Three were sporting beautiful blooms already. I am very impressed with the quality of the plants. I highly recommend this company.

I ordered a bunch of roses from them late May. I received them very quickly and found that one of the roses I ordered was very small, but handwritten on the invoice "Dazzler is a bit on the small side, but it will catch up. Live wire is sent as a cracker jack" Basically, because they felt the rose I ordered is smaller, they've automatically included another rose as a gift. Dazzler ended up losing all its leaves and about a month later, I contacted Nor'east to ask them what can I do to boost the poor little rose. The representative determined that it was probably dead and they'll send me a replacement of my choice, which was sent overnight. Overall, I've had excellent service from them. I would definitely order from them again.

Have placed 2 large orders with this company. Shipment comes on time, and plants are adequate. Out of the 20 roses I have ordered, I still have 11 and they are doing fine. (The other 9 I didn't like) DECOBUG

I ordered two Climbing Rainbow's End which arrived about 10 days after the order was placed. The plants were packed well and looked healthy, not even any yellow leaves. I'm looking forward to ordering from them again.
