Janco Greenhouses

We purchased a kit from Janco. We are in WI and there were no installers in our location. We installed it ourselves. Instructions were mediocre and we learned a lot during the process. I would not recommend self installation unless the person has experience in home construction. I understand instructions are being improved so it will be easier for others. The new customer service person is an experienced installer which is very helpful. Greenhouse is very solidly constructed. We have a thermopane unit, of course. It is attached to the back of our house (south facing). We added extra vent windows along the south side for more air and keep the door open when it is really hot but have not yet installed the shade system and the house doesn't go above 100 F even on the hottest days. We had problems heating (installed under gravel hot water heat but was not enough). We installed additional hot water heat under the benches and that is keeping it at 70 F at one end and 60 F at the other end without continuous operation. I would definitely recommend this unit for cold weather climates.

Bought a 10 x 13 lean-to greenhouse about 15 years ago and it's never had a problem -- no leaks, no cracking, etc. My only complaint about them was that they recommended a contractor from New Hampshire to construct it, and the contractors were obviously inexperienced. They did a really inept job, and I had to have a local man repair all their errors. The product itself was first-class, however.
