from portland, United States I found a few tulip varieties I like on sale and ordered them. A day later, when the order was processed, I got a refund notice on my Paypal account. I knew they'd run out of all but one kind and was disappointed but these things happen. The bulbs I received were firm and in good shape and I was pleasantly surprised as it was late in the season. There was also an explanation that they'd run out of stock of the other types and they offered me free shipping the next time I order. All in all, a pleasant experience and I'm pleased with the bulbs and service.

from Plano, TX (Zone 8b) I cannot recommend these people and suggest you run as fast as you can the other way. Occasionally, you can get something reasonable and don't have to deal with replacements. But, the majority of live plants they send are in a "hospital" condition and need major care. I ordered Calla albomaculata, a All the Jazz ITOH Peony and 3 Clematis. The Callas were the wrong variety and had no spotted leaves, and the replacements sent were extremely rotted and non-viable, and should never have been sent. The Clematis are 1-yr old, but appears to have been stored WAY TOO LONG in their bag and no one bothered to see they were dead before shipping, Plants aren't dormant in June and should show some growth, but these had none and never performed. I have over 30 Peonies and source them from all over. I only ever have problems with those I get from Tulip World, including the All That Jazz Peony from this order. Instead of getting an immediate refund that included shipping, because none of this should ever have used my money to be sent to me, I get a gift card and am told their rules don't provide for refunds. They expect me to eat the shipping for their failure and then pay it again on something else. You can't speak to a manager or owner, only the little girl that answers the phone, Lynn. Apparently she is new, too. These people are Charlatans and are no friend of the gardening community. They will scam you any way they can.

from Stroudsburg, PA (Zone 6a) I cannot recommend this company, unfortunately. I ordered some cannas and dahlias for a new bed I was making. All of the bulbs sprouted beautifully but were not the varieties I had ordered. By the time I found out there was nothing else I wanted left for an exchange so I opted to wait a year and have them send replacements, which they did. Unfortunately, again, the varieties they sent were the same as the year before even though they were labeled as the ones I wanted. So I have lost two years and a lot of work digging up plants. They were great at honoring their replace or credit policy, but what good is it when the replacements are wrong?

from Bellevue, WA I got a large order of over 500 flowers--tulips, daffodils, grape hyacinth, ranunculus etc.--from TulipWorld in late November 2020. The only problems I had were with an order of Mt. Hood Daffodils and my ranunculus. About 50-60% of the mixed color ranunculus bloomed correctly; it was the white and yellow ranunculus that did so poorly. The red and pink were great. Of the Mt. Hood daffodils, one-fifth of the bulbs crumbled to dust in my hand when taken out of the box. I discovered after they bloomed that they were not Mt. Hood daffodils, but rather some kind of double flowering mix. I contacted TulipWorld and had no problem obtaining a promise for them to send me a replacement order of Mt. Hood in the autumn of 2021. I received my replacement Mt. Hood order in October 2021, as promised. Unfortunately, 4 of the 25 bulbs were in bad condition... Dry and somewhat soft. Frankly, I just don't want to deal with the hassle of asking them for another replacement order. Be aware that this company is great for low-cost bulb mixes. I would have no problem recommending them to a friend who is just starting to garden on the cheap, but I would not recommend them to someone who expects more quality.

from Sequim, WA I ordered bulbs and tubers which were guaranteed 100% growth. The lilies were rotten or already sprouted up to 1 ft twisted. No way these will grow. Also bulbs were missing. Company requested I send pictures when I asked for a refund. I’ve heard nothing from them since. No reputable company would sell items they know are rotten.

from Frankston, TX Ordered some clematis and bulbs which were DOA. They required that i photograph them all, so I did. That was 2 weeks ago. Everything I received looked like it had been dead for a while, save for about 4 bulbs. Just the tiny dirt squares and what I can only assume was a clematis cutting at some point - and I paid over $60.00 just for the clematis. They did not even bother answering me at all after I sent them the photos. https://www.pinterest.com/maayalast/quick-saves/

from Lake Lure, NC Ordered 3 varieties of bulbs for forcing indoors. Holland Bulb is the same company by the way. The bulbs I ordered, mini iris, daffodils and crocus were expensive because they were "pre-chilled " OK I get paying a premium for that. I potted them up even though the iris had mold and were shriveled. None bloomed. Contacted customer service and they wanted photos...sent those and they CREDITED me for a few bulbs only. Said I would have to pay tax and shipping again if i wanted a replacement. Complete SCAM as they know they are shipping rotten bulbs. No ethics or scruples. Avoid

from Kennewick, WA (Zone 7a) I was disappointed and frustrated to receive my order of gladioli and begonia bulbs from Tulip World. The 2# box of bulbs was clearly marked as being shipped from Holland Bulbs to Tulip World, then shipped to my local USPS hub before finally being shipped to me. Had I known these bulbs were coming from the negatively rated Holland Bulbs, I would never have ordered. The gladioli bulbs are small but may be okay. The begonia bulbs are tiny and have only one bud on two of them. The third looks to be rotted.

from Binghamton, NY Not one of the three dozen gladiolus, properly planted and nurtured, survived to produce a bloom stalk. Half the bulbs reserved for a second planting were found moldy at planting and many never sprouted. The 'failure to grow' guarantee printed on the order slip indicates that claims could be filed through October or later, but I was told claims were not accepted after October 1.

from Vashon, WA I ordered 9 Siberian iris rhizomes from Tulip World in March 2020. The rhizomes and roots arrived totally dried out. Roots were soaked in water and rhizomes properly cared for. Only two survived with 4 never growing at all and 3 barely showing 1" high foliage then dying within six weeks. I contacted Tulip world informing them of my college education in botany & horticulture informing them that their dormancy process of drying out the rhizomes was responsible for their high failure rate. I received no response from TW. I asked for a refund but they sent a replacement order in accordance with their policy even after I indicated the high failure rate of their first order would be repeated if I did not receive bare root live plants which I requested. The replacement rhizomes and roots arrived totally dry again and had a 100% failure rate and never grew at all after an additional 6 weeks as TW required for growth. I asked for refund and was only given a credit for the plants according to their policy. I only received a refund after informing them I was turning the matter over to my credit card company and after sending them written documentation from the American Iris Society and two Iris Specialty Nurseries stating that iris roots must be kept moist or wet during transplanting and shipping directly contrary to their dormancy process of drying out their iris rhizomes and roots and shipping them in a dry, dormant state. Tulip World demonstrated no knowledge or understanding of the basic propagation methods and shipping methods for proper iris survival and growth throughout our entire communication process and never replied to any requests I made for an explanation from them for their high failure rate during the entire communication process from early April to late June 2020.

from Ellicott City, MD I ordered several sets of mixed astilbe "value bags," some to myself and some as a gift to my father at another address. All but three came up quickly (of 35 or so), and a couple are starting to send up scapes already. (!) They don't specify number of eyes, but the ones I got ranged from 2 eyes to probably 10. Healthy, happy plants, good prices, timely shipping. So, at least for astilbe, great!

from Pittsburgh, PA I have ordered from this company a handful of times now, always with good results. They often have nice sales and specials where you can get a certain variety of bulb or one color of plant at a nice discount, and I've really enjoyed their package deals in the past (for example a "shade garden package" came with a whole variety of bulbs that would do well in my side yard, and they were well packaged in sawdust). I've planted bulbs at 4 different properties now and all still look to be doing well, coming back year after year! Have never had to deal with customer service or request any changes so I can't comment on that part of the business but I've been very pleased with all of my orders so far!

from Moundridge, KS (Zone 6a) I know this company has had some complaints in the past so I just wanted to add a big positive! I ordered daffodil, tulip and allium bulbs, and just received a box of nice plump bulbs which all look quite good. I did have one problem, however...there were no allium bulbs. There was an ink mark by that number on the enclosed order sheet, but no explanation for the missing bulbs.I called their office and was helped by a delightful lady who looked it up and said, "Well, I can't see any reason those weren't included so we'll get them out to you right away." I couldn't have asked for better service!!!

from Oriskany, NY Avoid this company like the plague...or at least their coupon/discount offers. The company tricks you into believing you get a discount that the website says will appear at checkout but then the discount does not appear and it is too late to go back to see what is wrong. This happened to me and after calling customer service to complain about their scheme they would not solve the issue. I paid the price without the coupon discount, besides that many of the bulbs were rotten....perhaps because it was so late in the year. Anyway shop elsewhere! from Columbia, KY This was the second time that I've ordered from the company. I've always had a good experience. For the most part, the prices are very reasonable, especially towards the end of the season. This time around I order ranunculus and anemones. So far, I've only planted the ranunculus, but - they're huge! After soaking these guys, I was amazed by the quality (Not to mention I received 10 extra!). I can't wait until they start to grow :) Thanks!

I was very pleasantly pleased that an answer to my request was sent the next day (Saturday) and my order was shipped out that Monday. I will be ordering from TulipWorld again.

from Blue River, CO I asked for an order to be cancelled. When I found out it not been and the order was shipped I called the company who saiid there was nothing they could do because they didn't have anything in their notes about the order being cancelled. I spoke to a supervisor who was obviously not interested in retaining a positive relationship with her customer. Don't do business with this company if you value being appreciated as a customer and accurate business practices. There are many other online garden and plant businesses who treat their customers with respect. from Dundee, NY Posted on October 6, 2012, updated October 9, 2012 First time ordering from TulipWorld. I placed my order and within a week, it was shipped. Bulbs arrived yesterday and look perfectly fine with no noticeable issues. I have to store these in the basement till I can plant them next week. I ordered tulips, crocus, muscari and daffodils. One note: I did find they did not include one of the items I ordered. I promptly called customer service and told them which item was missing and they promised to ship it right away. I received yesterday notification that a shipment is coming which should arrive this coming week. Perfect. One thing I think TulipWorld should do when pulling and packing the customers orders is to put a check mark next to the item on the packing slip so they know they pulled all the ordered items. Next spring I'll come back and do a follow-up on the actual blooms and the results. On October 9th, 2012, JuliaNY added the following: Just to update that today I received the package of missing daffodils and everything is excellent as far as bulb quality and size. Excellent customer service to ship the missing item very quickly.

from Santa Fe, NM Based on their shipping alone I give them 5 stars! I was debating which company to order some cannas and lillys from and with TulipWorlds affordable shipping they are one of my new favorite vendors. As for the product, the assorted stargazer's were of decent size and about what I expected them to be. The Tall Canna assortment were overall medium in size, got a few runts in the bag but they should even out. I would say most had 3 eyes none over 4, I did expect them to be a bit larger but not dissapointing I will be doing business with TulipWorld again.

from San Antonio, TX (Zone 8b) Posted on February 17, 2012, updated March 13, 2012 I went ahead and took advantage of TulipWorld's end-of-season discounts and low shipping and ordered an assortment of spring-blooming bulbs from them at the end of 2011. I was very happily surprised with my order. They shipped quickly (and everything was nicely packed), the shipping amount was low, and the bulbs were large and healthy. The only thing that was less than impressive was the one iris I ordered which looked dried-up and lifeless when I got it and is kind of limping along now. I paid little for it in any case. I was very pleased with the majority of my order though. My narcissus from TulipWorld are happily beginning to bloom now and are so pretty, and are true to their descriptions. Don't be scared off by their low shipping price and last-minute deals, thinking the quality is bad - it is not. My experience with this company was definitely positive and I will be ordering from them again. On March 13th, 2012, Speckled_Hen added the following: I just wanted to add that the iris I had ordered from them and was concernced about is fine after all - healthy and sprouting new leaves. :) I'm looking forward to its' bloom. from Lawrenceville, GA Posted on July 6, 2010, updated July 17, 2010 I ordered six Cleopatra Cannas. They were advertised as 3-5 eyes. I received the items promptly but was very disappointed in the quality of the bulbs. Two were of average size and had 2-3 eyes each. The remaining bulbs were very small and did not have any noticeable eyes. They were planted in mid-May and only two have sprouted. From the looks of the foliage I doubt they are true Cleopatra Cannas. I am very disappointed with this supplier. They immediately acknowledged the orders clearly via email. I awaited the fall delivery. However in the fall I received from them a devastating tale of evil hooliganism in their bulb warehouse necessitating for them to have to replace all the bulbs with new shipments from Holland. I expected to receive a poorly filled order. However, I recently received both orders (combined for shipping) in their entirety that were as fat and happy as any I received from the many other suppliers that I had ordered from this year. The Eremurus were the size of UFOs. I was very pleased with all the more than 300 bulbs that they shipped to me. I will order again from them. Patti

from Salt Lake City, UT It is true that this company is rather slow with replying emails. However, I have very good experience with them. I ordered total of 300 bulbs from them in May for October delivery. But, because we usually have frost already in October, I asked them to change the shipping to September delivery and they DID! I got all my bulbs, nice, healthy, and big on September 25th. If all these bulbs bloom next spring, I would definitely re-order from them. Plus, they have incentive discounts for order greater than certain amount (check their website) and another discount if you are a returned customer on top of that. I believe they do have good price on bulbs compare to other online companies. For those who feels they are not replying emails, just pick up the phone and call! After all, email is not the only way to communicate!!

from Dublin, Ireland I've been a customer of TulipWorld's for 2 years now and my experience has been exceptional in all respects. The website is exceptional-- in addition to easy-to-follow planting and care info, there is plenty of additional reference and advisory material. The quality of the bulbs I've ordered has been consistently top grade, and prices are competitive. Although I've not had any problem or issue requiring customer service, I've been proactively contacted by TulipWorld for feedback on my experience, which has reinforced for me what a top-notch, customer-focused company they are. When friends and neighbors have paid compliments about our garden, I've not hesitated to extend the credit to TulipWorld for providing me with the excellent product that makes it all possible. I routinely introduce and recommend TulipWorld to friends and family because my experience with them has been absolutely great.

from Manorhamilton, Ireland I enjoy purchasing from Tulipworld for numerous reasons, but in particular I'm very pleased with their customer service. I would like to point out one particular incident from November 2004: I had ordered bulbs, but didn't receive them when expected. It turned out that the package had been returned to Tulipworld (even though the address was correct, so it was a postal error), and I was given a choice of a refund plus an additional discount for my next order or a refund for the amount paid incl. shipping fee. This is what I would call superb customer service! I've been happy to recommend the site to friends and colleagues since I started buying there. I'm pleased with the quality of the products and I like the assortment (especially the mix packages). And can't wait for Tulipworld to expand their choice (herb seeds for example?).

We used them because they carried varieties that we were unable to obtain anywhere else. This year none of those varieties are on their site which is too bad. We have slow internet connections in our area and didn't find their site quite as user friendly as others. I would like to see a full list of all their products with clickable variety names in addition to the groups of tulip colors listed under such titles as "Classics", "Serene Tones" & "Specialties". *Perhaps it should be noted that we received an e-mail recently from them asking for our comments and a follow-up e-mail thanking us for our input including a linked request to submit a post on the Garden Watchdog.

from South Grafton, MA I have been a customer for several years, and I have never been disappointed with the quality of their bulbs. The customer service department is outstanding, they are always very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. Their prices are very reasonable. The website is very well organized and easy to use. There is an amazing amount of information and I love the style advisor feature. I love the way the product is packaged, each bulb is individually packed and labeled with all the important information including the name, color, and the instructions on when and how to plant. I really love Tulip World. I highly recommend this company.

from vicenza, Italy My experience in both gardening and buying bulbs online is limited to Tulipworld, so I can't make comparisons with others, but I feel I'll hardly find a more reliable, efficient and well organized company. The site is easy to surf, full of useful information and pictures, delivery is made on schedule and above all the bulbs are of excellent quality (100% success in my case!). Moreover, customer care and after sale assistance are absolutely top rate, with plenty of (much needed, for me) advice on how to care for your bulbs.

from Lynnfield, MA We could not have been more pleased with Tulip World. The bulbs were shipped in a timely fashion and in perfect condition. This spring we had a spectacular display of daffodils and look forward to future shipments. The company even helped us with our planting skills and were quick to answer our many questions. We would highly recommend this company (and already have to many friends).

from North Salem, NY Dear Tulip World, I wanted to let you know how satisfied I am with your bulbs! My experience with Tulip World was so positive that I would give you a very high recommendation. Our Church holds an annual harvest festival and we decided to sell bulbs on site, not through mail order catalogs. I researched 3 categories and Tulip World exceeded my expectation in each area. PRICE: The prices at Tulip World were exceptional! We were able to offer bulbs to our customers at prices well below those in catalogs and still make a very good profit. We sold out of our entire stock of 1000 assorted bulbs in less than one week. QUALITY: These were the biggest bulbs I have ever seen! I followed the Website instructions for forcing bulbs indoors and I had beautiful flowers in my office all through January. Our customers have given us feedback about how beautiful the flowers are. For example, the hyacinths are on nice sturdy stalks and their fragrance is wonderful and the tulips and daffodils are nice and tall with dramatic colors. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I was a little hesitant about dealing with a company overseas. I sent Tulip World an email with some questions regarding shipping and delivery. To my surprise, I received a reply arranging a time that would be convenient for me to have a customer representative contact me! He answered all of my questions and responded to my concerns. I thought Tulip World went "above and beyond" by treating their customers with special care. Your customer service is outstanding! I would like to thank you for enabling our sale to be such a success and I look forward to placing more orders with you! Thanks, Helen

from Lombard, IL I found Tulip World on the web because I was trying to find unusual bulbs. I have ordered several varieties of popular bulbs and also unusual bulbs from them since then and the quality has been consistently extraordinary. The flowers are awesome and the bloom rate is 100% and that makes their bulbs a great value. I ordered from other bulb suppliers via the web and have had 50% bloom rates or 0% in some cases. Tulip World is the only bulb supplier from which I will order now and in the future.

from Bethany, CT I found Tulip World by chance. I got a coupon from another company for $20 of free bulbs. I was going to order a lot but thought I would scope out other companys prices. Through a google search I found Tulip World and the prices were fabulous. To hedge my bets I ordered from 3 different companies. The bulbs from Tulip word were the largest I received and the most affordable. They even included plastic labels to mark where/what you planted. Right now I have a fabulous looking spring garden and I can't wait to order more. I have recommended them to all my friends and without hesitation I endorse them here. Companies like this with high quality products and good customer service (they emailed this spring to check that everything was blooming as expected!!) deserve to succeed

from Amsterdam, Netherlands I wanted to surprise my auntie in the states with some flower bulbs from The Netherlands. I really didn't know where to start. After some google searching on the internet I found this company from Amsterdam. The website looks professionnal and it seemed that they had a lot of experience with exporting to the states. So I thougth, why not? And I was right! She received the bulbs in mint condition and they are blooming perfectly. She was really happy with this gift. Since I live in the city I thought I couldn't grow bulbs, but on their website I saw some pots and containers in which you can grow bulbs. So I ordered a small package. They are sending me this next fall. I am really looking forward to this. I really recommend the company Tulipworld!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
