I've ordered several times in the past 12 or so years. I'm always impressed with the quality of the plants, the packing for shipment, and their pro-active customer service. Order with confidence!

This is my first order with Heaths & Heathers and I couldn't be more pleased with the plants that I received. The box of 22 Erica carnea 'Golden Starlet' traveled cross-country with no ill effects. The plants were moist and fresh, in 'just potted-up' appearance. My second order this spring for other varieties was just sent and I will definitely be reordering from Karla and her nursery again.

Best source for heathers! Price is the lowest I've found for mail order heather. Huge selection. 3 years ago I ordered 10 heather (Calluna vulgaris) from a nursery in California. The price was $7.75 for a 3 1/4" plant. They did well so I decided to plant a large heather garden last year, with 33 plants. Discovered Heaths and Heathers website; the same size plant was $4.95 and the selection was unbelievable. Great photos and information on the plants. These plants were bigger than the plants from California—they cost less and were better plants. Did great and doubled or tripled in size over the summer. I also bought her book "Heaths & Heathers—Color for All Seasons" By Karla Lortz. Bought the hard copy but I see you can buy it as a PDF file for much less, on her website (but I'm a hard-copy, book lover so I'd still buy the book if I had the choice of the two). The website is a wealth of info on how to grow heather. Karla answered my questions about plant selection, promptly by e-mail. My dream is visit her nursery in WA some day. Karla answered my questions promptly by e-mail.

I ordered from this company because it's pretty much the only source I could find in the US that sold true heathers. I do like their website and they have an exceptional selection. They did seem a little pricey (5 small heathers for $40 after $13.50 shipping, although I am on the other side of the country from them). While the packaging was so-so (laying horizontal with a lot of loose dirt), the plants indeed look very good and I am pleased so far.

This is a treasure of a company. The website provides high quality images of the plants, gardening information and adds free bonus plants for those ordering more than a couple. Karla, the owner, is a fantastic source of information, called us when weather delayed shipping and sent us great plants. She went out of her way to help us get what we wanted and even was gracious during a credit card glitch. I have grown heathers and heaths in Holland and am now planting them in Southern California. The plants arrived boxed with each plant wrapped in damp newspaper. Plants were in perfect condition. The plants are now residing happily in hillside garden between crepe myrtles.

My first Erica carneas arrived in excellent condition and are settling in beautifully. They were all of a good size and very healthy--one was even in bloom! I will definitely order from them again.

Excellent Communication, Large Healthy Plants, Reasonable Shipping that was FAST. Heaths and Heathers has an excellent selection and tons of info on their site and I was able to get cultivars that I've never seen for sale at local nurseries. I highly recommend!

I bought a collection of Heather that was chosen by the company according to the growing requirements and my zone. Even though it has been a very hot week of almost 90 degrees, the plants arrived in good condition. Karla has been very helpful and returned my emails personally to answer questions. Its nice to know that a plant so hard to find can be bought so easily through this great company.

I received quite a large order from Heaths and Heathers about three weeks ago. Because the space for them needed a lot of work I took me over a week to get them all in place. They are all looking wonderful and are showing signs of really settling in. Through the shipping and waiting process none of them drooped, lost buds or leaves or seemed stressed at all. I look forward to working with this company as my heath and heather area grow.

Heaths and Heathers is a fine nursery. I ordered a number of cultivars, and the plants were shipped to my house very quickly. They were well-packaged and are in excellent condition. They also have a nice good-sized catalog.

When we ordered back a few years ago, they were helpful in our selections for our zone. The plants received were healthy and packed remarkably well. Several months later, a few plants died, we called them and discussed how and what we had planted in and where. They promptly replaced the plants and continued to offer advice in the care of them. Very, very pleased with this company.

I ordered from Heath and Heathers in the fall of 2004. I received the heathers within the shipping days noted on their site, (within 2 weeks). Each plant was very healthy looking. Not one plant was puny for its size pot. Quality was excellent. The order was missing one heather, and when I called them up, they responded very promptly. Very friendly and helpful, along the whole way. They shipped the missing plant at their expense. The heathers been through one winter. And its now March of 2005 and all are showing life except one. (water ran down through it, washed all the dirt away from it, leaving it free standing during the winter, not their fault). At the base of the little guy, its showing a little greenery, so it may be able to be resurrected. I would recommend this place to anyone, they know heathers, they ship promptly, they pack great and are very willing to help after you recieve them.

Have purchased twice: both times received beautiful plants in excellent condition. Have also exchanged emails with Karla and gotten helpful info from her. Highly recommended.

They have wonderful, extensive selections, but after 4 out of 5 heathers died on me, they basically said "These things will happen" and that was the end of it. Will not order again.

I consulted the owner, Karla Lortz, last Spring about putting in a large heather garden. I had never grown heathers and wondered if they would grow in my climate. She was very helpful and answered all of my questions. I asked her to select a large number to bloom all year round. The plants arrived in excellent condition and are thriving and beautiful .

I found out about this company in a newspaper article. I called and requested a catalogue. It came promptly. I called again with a tentative order; after a long conversation with the owner (!) I changed my order to what she recommended and had in stock (it was way after the catalogue had first come out). All my selections arrived when promised; in wonderful health; all grew lustily. I got another catalogue at the correct time and ordered an assortment, some as gifts, some for myself. Again, talked with the owner (!) who gave some good advice. When I can again provide the correct growing conditions I will order again (and again and again and again).

I have been intrigued with the tree heathers since seeing them in the Canary Islands and in the Cape province. Heaths and Heather is the only mail order nursery in north America (that I've been able to find) that carries the tree heathers and their selection in both these species and the more standard ones is amazing. My order went out from Oregon on the morning of September 11, 2001 and although it was intended as 3 day air (UPS), of course there were no flights until that Friday. As it turns out, UPS had re-routed the package to truck and so the plants arrived 8 days later. They were still in great shape! We were lucky that the weather was good, but the quality of the plants and the packing was a major factor. Great selection, great & friendly service (and a good web site). Highly recommended!

Last fall, I sent them an e-mail requesting some suggestions for varieties that would do well in Texas heat, bloom year round, of certain sizes and colors, and was promptly rewarded with an offer of 6 varieties for $20 that matched my qualifications. It took a while to receive the plants when I placed the order this spring (they were out of town), but the plants arrived in good shape--two were even blooming, and continue to bloom a month later. The shipping, however, was $13, almost the cost of my plants. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

I ordered some heather from the website. Karla took my order and she was terrific. The plants are good sized and healthy. I would recommend this site for anyone needing heaths or heathers. They'll send a free catalog full of hundreds of varieties.
