Just received my order from Travis Violets and it was perfect. The plants were wrapped so that no leaves were broken and each violet was marked with its name. Four of the six violets were ready to bloom and all looked very healthy. It was sent in a special box that was lined in fiberglass to keep the violets warm. This was my first order and there was a free violet added. I will be ordering from them again and can recommend this company.

I just received several varieties of African violet leaves, including standards, trailers, and semiminiatures. Each package contained 2-3 healthy, fresh, turgid leaves. This company gave me 2 extra packages- FREE! The bonuses were Aca's Tornado and JollyTreasure. Shipping charges are reasonable. I'll order again.

Posted on July 16, 2009, updated July 3, 2010 This is my first order and WOW was I impressed. I order 4 Irene Fredette AV's (Tiger, Glitter Fountain, Red Ferrari and Country Cider). Huge plants in wonderful condition right out of the box. Not one leaf messed up. (Well, I did lose one leaf off of Tiger but that's a free plant for me as I always root my leaves). They send email when they ship so you do get a confirmation number. The only thing out of date about their website is the catalog of 2007. Catalogs are very expensive to maintain and mail so I'm not surprised that they are a bit out of date on that. But the plants are completely up to date that I can see, anyway. I'm going to make a second order to be sure. I highly recommend this company.

On July 22nd, 2009, divvajacko added the following: And WOW Again! I ordered 5 plants (Travis had to substitute but sent leaves for the plant I did order at no charge which is fine with me). Alamo Explosion, Rob's Jitterbug, Rob's Love Bite (free!!), Affection, Buckeye Cornucopia and Pen N' Ink. Beautiful plants right out of the box. I check Travis Davis first before I look at anyone else. A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
On July 3rd, 2010, divvajacko added the following: Another great order! and yes WOW again. Rob's fuzzy navel, Feather, Red Ferrari and Rob's Galiwinku. I keep coming back because it's great!

I have ordered from a few different companies and I am so impressed with this one that I wanted to tell EVERYONE. The packaging was incredible. It is common to have a broken leaf or two - I had none. The size of the plants I received were exceptional and some were in bloom. I hate I didn't order from them sooner. I even received free plants. What else could you ask for? Top of the line business if you are interested in gorgeous and healthy African Violets. I highly recommend them!

I haven't ordered plants from Travis for a few years but did place several orders and was always happy with my plants as well as the service. The plants were carefully wrapped and packed and after traveling cross country, arrived without any damage at all. There is a reason for the June to October shipping; there is danger of frost in the other months. I live in northern Washington State and our winters begin in late October and we get frost at night until April or early May. I'd hate to lose a shipment of plants due to inclement weather! I'm assuming that Travis accepts orders all year and then ships first-come, first serve. I would think that getting orders in advance like would help him know which plants to have available. The only reason I had to stop ordering plants from Travis was because I ran out of space; the minimum order is too big for what I can grow at home. I just wanted to share my thoughts in regard to this grower.

In the last eight months I have ordered a couple different times from TravisViolets. Each time I felt he went the extra mile in sending nice healthy plants. I currently am making up another list of violets I want to order from him. And I don't hold it against him for getting whatever the market will bear for the chimera 'Breezy Brea'. Its truly beautiful and always commands a stiff price whenever by whomever it is sold. Karen Mcilroy Puyallup, Wa.

I received my order from Travis and it was the best packaged order I think I have ever received. All of the plants had fresh blooms, were packaged with much care and were very healthy. He even included a gift plant. I was very impressed with Travis and will certainly order from him again.

I have received plants and leaves from this vendor a few times. Plants and leaves were always exceptional and very carefully packaged. I would never hesitate to order from this vendor again.

I am secretary for the Early Bird Violet Club that meets in Birmingham, Alabama. Our group has ordered from Travis a # of times for both club events & individual orders. The plants are always well grown & well packed. He gets an A+ from this group!

IMO, this is not a company that I want to deal with. I feel that if this guy wants to have a violet business and can't ship in winter, why don't he just close his site and say that he only ships from June to October or whatever. He takes money for the orders and then ships whenever he wants to. I also don't think much of a vendor who sells the "rare" plants on eBay and does not offer them on his website to his loyal customers. Nice guy.......and he even got the "rarest" one for free in a trade....but hey, he is making the big bucks selling it on eBay. This person gets a well deserved negative feedback on this forum and then has 5 of his friends post positive comments for him. He then goes to an African Violet forum and rants and raves about this customer. The post was on that board for a week. When the customer found his nasty post and responded to it, the post was pulled. Shame on that African Violet forum. Too bad they can't be rated here too. Buyer beware in dealing with this vendor.

I have ordered from Travis on several occasions, also won a box of plants on eBay. Every time, the plants were packed with much southern TLC and shipped as soon as the weather permitted...ensuring their safe arrival! A few years ago I had the chance to meet Travis and his wonderful wife at a violet show, and bought a few boxes of his beautiful, blooming violets. His plants are well worth waiting for, if you simply have to order them during the cold months. I will order from him again, and look forward to dealing with him and his family.

I've ordered quite a few times from this vendor, and have never been disappointed. The plants are very healthy and well worth the money. Shipping has always been very timely as well. This past year my local violet club bought their project plants from him. They arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Will I keep buying from him? YES!

I've ordered from Travis' violets for many years...and almost every other violet vendor available. I'll always go back to Travis violets! His violets are the 'best/largest', healthiest plants available. He has an excellent shipping method/reputation, and his communication is the best. I've spoke with him on the phone numerous times, and he's very professional in every way. Violet collectors know that a 'live perishable item' won't be shipped unless weather conditions are good (acceptable to the vendor). What reputable violet vendor would send out an item that could possibly perish in transit? Not one that I would like to order from! Travis' violets are simply the BEST VIOLETS AROUND!

I HAVE recieved african violets from this vendor for more than 10 years, all shipment is ontime, never a bad plant, starter plants most are ready to bloom, there are always gift plants or leaves. There are times he is delivering his mother, and wife will accomadate you. I have had questions about my growing he is never too busy to answer.I place my order knowing if the weather is not favorable my order will arrive at a better time to ensure the plants are not damaged,he will mention "it's a little too cool at this time, according to the weather man such and such a day may be better, all of this time he holds my money-- i get my cancelled check back, I can say only good about Travis and family. Thanks

When buying from Travis, the communication regarding when the order would be shipped was very poor. First, an email was sent saying that he expected it to ship during a particular week. We heard nothing from him that week and emailed him inquiring about the order status. After three emails (which were sent directly to him, not through his website which he claimed was not working), he still did not respond. I finally called him on the phone and he said the weather had been bad. That would have been fine if he had sent a simple email letting us know. We requested our money back, and Travis granted that request, however he also insulted my husband in the process. He was extremely rude about it. We had been nothing less than civil to him during the entire process, even when we had to request the money back. We will never buy through that vendor again. The dispute was eventually resolved, which is to Travis' credit. He refunded the money promptly, even though he was insulting in the process.

On May 4th, 2005, boilermaker2000 added the following: I actually do have a clue as to how violet orders are handled in the winter, as I have ordered from other people. Other vendors keep you updated on your order, and if given a planned shipping date (as Travis did), will let you know if the weather in their area is not conducive to shipping. A simple email that stated the weather was bad would have sufficed. After nearly month of emailing Travis with no response, my husband was ready to dispute the item with Paypal. This is where Travis feels he was called a "fraud." What would you do if someone were holding your money and not responding to any of your emails week after week after week? Our issue had nothing to do with the timing of the shipment. It was the lack of communication on Travis' part.

Ordered a few supplies a year or two ago. Shipment took longer than expected, but soil mix arrived intact. Have not bought any plants from them.
