Posted on April 24, 2006, updated October 18, 2009 I bought 2 trees from Kevin last spring they were delivered and have done well. At that time I ordered and paid for a pear tree that was to have additional grafting of 2 other varieties to it. Kevin was to do that last summer and ship to me this spring. Last fall (2005) I tried for 3 months to contact Kevin to see how my grafts took but he never returned my emails or my phone calls. Finally, he emailed me in January to tell me the grafts never took. How long was he aware of that yet did not tell me?! Many months! He also said he would refund me my money since the tree was paid for (and with the additional grafts it was not a cheap tree) I responded to him to get the details and my refund but didn't hear anything back and now all emails bounce back to me. I can get through by phone. If his contacts have been updated, there is no website to tell you about it. He has cut off all contact and not refunded my money and I am not happy. Kevin... your emails asked me to check back with your website in Jan. 2007. Are you joking? I strongly suggest you contact me so this can be worked out. I'm sure you remember who I am as we had extensive communications about that pear tree. My contacts have not changed. I hope people read this so they can see how you have treated your customers. The open market will have no sympathy for your spurrious buisness practices.

On October 18th, 2009, Hoosierdeuce changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: Edible Forest Nursery is again up and running. I have made contact with Kevin and, as much time has passed, we have opted not to rehash the details of our prior transaction. Kevin has made good on the money he owed me and in doing so was easy to contact and communicate with. It should be noted that his website has been up and running for a while now and is much better than the one he had before. He has a wealth of information on it and by all appearances he is committed to his business. It is for these reasons I think that it may be safe to give Edible Forest Nursery another opportunity to earn your business.

I have not "cut off all contacts", I simply moved (among other things). You can email me at edforest55@hotmail.com but I will not be selling trees in 2007 either, I am relocating the nursery also and this may take a few years. (why would I have been joking about checking back in 2007? I don't appreciate the tone of your posting.)
Doing those topgrafts was something of a courtesy, I do recall my motive was to do you a favor so you could get the best pears in your area with your limited space using an uncoventional method despite the extra fiddling and less cost compared to buying two extra trees. It is a great deal of bother deviating from the usual tasks I do by doing topgrafting and your expectations of time frames for updates are unreasonable considering this.
You will of course be refunded the money, I would never keep money for work undone, but you must tell me your name so I can look it up.

I got a honeycrisp from these guys a few years ago. It arrived in good shape, and grew well.

Edible Forest Nursery website is up and running. I live in Alaska and just came across the website a couple days ago. I called and left a message and it was promptly returned within less than 24 hours. I have also left emails which have been promptly answered; sometimes corresponding 2x within one day. EVEN on Easter!! Kevin is very accommodating, kind, full of information and help. I am in the process of ordering 6 apple trees from him and he's been a delight to work with. I would recommend his company to anyone.

On April 23rd, 2007, ColleenHF added the following: I received my order of trees very timely. The trees are very healthy. Kevin didn't have one of the trees I wanted so he gave me the same variety on different rootstock for FREE trial. You can't beat that! There has been alot of communication between us and I am very happy with Kevin, his knowledge and his business practices. I hope others will give him a try.

I placed a big order with them this winter. Never heard from them. In March I tried to confirm and schedule delivery, but found what others found - wesite dead, email dead, phone dead! I wrote a letter to them cancelling my order and stopped payment on the check. Today, I got an email from a Kevin Bradley, who apologizes and tells me that he can't fill my order (blames it on the post office for not forwarding his mail!). Suggested I use St. Lawrence Nursery in New York (which I already did a month ago). He offered to tear up my check and send it back to me. When I replied to his email to ask him to please send along my check, the email came back undeliverable! At least I think he's trying to be nice, but give me a break!

I am not intentionally avoiding people, circumstances have been beyond my control, personal, I have barely had a single moment since August of last year to tend to anything but urgent issues.
I do apologize for the frustration and I hope you got the trees you wanted.

I also was disappointed when I couldn't contact the Edible Forest Nursery this spring (April 15 2006)--especially since I had prepaid an order for nearly a dozen apple trees, which I was very much looking forward to receiving. HOWEVER, I received a phone message yesterday saying the order would be filled--so there may be hope after all. Since at the moment all recent communication has been by voice-mail, can't add anything about what is really going on, but will prepare holes, hope for the best, and provide a follow-up report! The EFN website, which has been non-functioning for more than a month, had a ton of useful apple variety info. If it doesn't return, I will be disappointed.

On January 28th, 2007, weavrm added the following: Update: spring apple tree order arrived as promised, in excellent condition, and grew well last summer. I would like to point out that Kevin is a very knowledgeable, hands-on grower who has not absconded with anybody's money (by way of contrast, try looking up Southmeadow Gardens on this site) and one of a very few sources for apple grafted on Ranetka --the rootstock of choice for the far north. I hope his move is successful, and that he, the orchard, and the website are back to normal in the future. If and when he says he is back in business, I will put in an order.

Ordered first year when nursery opened; shipped on time, trees in good condition.Checked website in July--impressive listing and long, accurate descriptions of pome and stone fruit for the north. Will order again and post results.

On April 9th, 2004, oswald added the following: Received Spring 2004 order early April as requested in very good, dormant state preceded by an e-mail notification that the order has been shipped.
On April 15th, 2005, oswald added the following: Again, a pleasure to receive well packed order of two apples and a pear--alive, healthy and of just the right planting size.
On April 16th, 2006, oswald changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following: I have to make amends: alas, Edible Forest Nursery is not responding this 2006 Spring, not even a polite "out of business". Pity, good one year can not be trused to be good the following year.

See previous rebuttal above for explanation. (Additionally, I would have liked to leave the website up longer than I did providing the nursery's status but my web server charged a rather large fee and when my year's subscription was over I had to let it go. My phone, as I explained earlier was disconnected after I moved).
I would like to thank my repeat customers, I miss this business greatly, and will do what I can to move my nursery and get it going again in a better location at which time my stock will once again be available, even better.
