As the only lily specialist nursery in the country, I would have expected the Lily Nook to carry at least one Canadian native lily but no, they don’t even carry the Canada Lily (Lilium canadense). Nor did they show the slightest interest in selling it in the future when I enquired. You can always tell which nurseries have a genuine commitment to plants and which are in it only for the money. Ironically there are thousands of native gardeners who would flock to buy it if they did carry it. Many Canadians are forced instead to grow this and Michigan Lily from seed which takes many years to see results. Very disappointing.

I ordered their bulbs three times. Like they promised, all the bulbs are true named varieties. However, their plant stocks are not disease free, I got lots of viruses bulbs. Last fall I ordered over ten bulbs, but when they were shooting in this spring, there are three lilies have virus symptoms, one species lily, two OT liles. And northern carillon lily was suspected virused. I paid almost 9$ and got a zelmira lily bulb with basal rot, but they still told me that is healthy. They are family growers, so they can't make sure the bulbs are disease free. I don't think I paid lots of money on a unhealthy bulb is worth.

I ordered a quite rare lily from this company a while back. There were all kinds of issues that were caused by me or my crazy bank, and the lovely people at the Lily Nook helped me with each and every one. I mistakenly put on my order form that I wanted one of the lily when I really wanted three. Nigel Strohman kindly pointed out that a certificate required for export cost $15.00, making it an expensive single lily. This is not my first order from Canada so I knew about the certificate but not my error, and corrected it. Then my bank kept having conniptions about security and twice refused to accept the order from Joyce Strohman, assuming athe foreign order was fraudulent, even after I called them after the first refusal and gave permission. So I was contacted again and found that they had kindly not given the lily away. So I gave them a normal credit card and after all the trouble they went through they sent me three beautifully packaged lilies that I am thrilled to have. I could not be more pleased, and will not hesitate to order again, if they will put up with me!

Posted on October 24, 2011, updated April 21, 2013 My comments on first ever purchase from the Lily Nook. I made a pretty good size order. Every thing was very professional: order confirmation, packing and shipping release date, shipping date notification with tracking # with Canada Post. It took about a week to get to WIS. because of necessary inspections and certain inspection costs are quite expensive; thats why I made a larger order-- to help offset the fixed insp. cost. The bulbs were very well packed, in fact, I was Very Impressed!! All the bulbs were good size and charactur for their division and nice and fresh stock as well. I am certain they will do just fine for me. Note: this grower has certain lilies that are generally not available or hard to get in the states. Another reason I'd buy more in the coming seasons.

I continue to be very impressed with their quality. Every bulb has grown wonderfully and produced such an abundance of flowers it's got the whole neighborhood interested in Lilies! A good company to do business with, that's for sure! I am a lilium hobbyist.

Great customer service, lots of different lilies to choose from. Best selection of Martagons in Canada! Bulbs are guaranteed to be true to name and best of all a free bulb will be added with orders over $50, gotta love that. Sharon

The Lily Nook came highly recommended from other lily lovers. I have to say, start to finish, it was a positive experience. The bulb size was fine, nothing huge, but flowering size, no doubt. They delivered in record time( 1 week), phyto inspection and all. I received an e-mail confirmation immediately after ordering, as well. They had a few varieties that I was unable to obtain anywhere where else, so this was my first order. I would not hesitate ordering from them again. I am very pleased and look forward to future lilies from this company. Thanks Lily Nook!

I hate to give a negative rating on this company as many lily loving DG'ers recommend this site, but.... I Placed an order over one week ago and have not had any order confirmations from them. I d-mailed them from the Watchdog link a few days ago asking them about my order, but to date, I have heard nothing from them. This is a Canadian company so shipping is over 18.00 for my order, plus my order is somewhere around 80.00. I believe that every customer from any business, deserves an answer within 24 hours. If you are unable to tend to your customers, HIRE A TEMP and have them do it. If you can't hire a temp because you are a smaller business, YOU MUST Have a back up plan for emergencies. For example, LEAVING an automated on line message for orders and a VOICE MAIL message, to let customers know there is an emergency and not to expect any contact for 2 weeks (or whatever period of time) is simple and any business minded person would know to do this so as not to lose money. If something bad happened to this seller, than I am sorry, but what kind of company does not have a back up plan????????

They also gave me a couple free lilies which matched the color of my order and they looked wonderful together.

Excellent selection, good prices (they get better the more you order as the phyto covers one or many bulbs) I ordered in January and they sent good sized bulbs in excellent condition. I will definitely order from them again. (they have a nice selection of martagons and species and a huge selection of asiatics, and hybrids not seen in many other catalogs)

Very helpful staff. Beautiful collection. Not sure of bulb size since I am new to planting lilium, but they were in perfect condition. I will use them again.

Based on some comments on the forums I ordered some Asiatics from this grower. They arrived in perfect shape, and were quite large. Can't wait to see how they do. I ordered three colors of Pixies, and Salsa, and was given a Sun Pixie as a bonus. Their responsiveness to my questions prior to ordering was also a factor. I'm a container gardener, so if they don't come up and do well I'll blame it on the weather conditions. Lily Nook has done their part. I'll order from these folks again.

I split an order with 3 other DG members this fall and saved considerably due to a favorable exchange rate (75 US cents to the CAD $1). Splitting the order resulted in under $5 each for Phytosanitary Cert. The Lily Nook has a VAST selection of all divisions to choose from (much better than most US sellers) although they do not sell Orientals in the Fall. Their bulbs arrived very well packed and in top shape. Bulbs were excellent in size and clearly marked in individual bags for each variety with a bit of what looked to be vermiculite. I will definitely order from The Lily Nook again and hope to pool orders in the future to help defray Phyto Cert. costs. Order from The Lily Nook; you won't be disappointed.

My experience was very positive. The bulbs I received were the healthiest I've ever seen. I planted 5 bulbs of "Tom Pouce" & 1 bulb of "Giraffe" in soil that was probably a little heavier with clay then recommended. They all came up and produced lots of blooms. I ordered and bought lilies from a few different vendors this year and these were the best of the bunch by far. I wouldn't hesitate to order from the Lily Nook again.

I have received bulbs from the Lily Nook since the early '90s and haven't received any bulbs which are not true to name. I ordered 9 oriental "Dizzy" this spring, which are blooming at this time. Although the bulbs were not huge, every one came up, one with six flowers, and the rest with 5 each. As well, I obtained several martagon lilies from them and each one came up the following year with no sulking, and one even bloomed it's first year! I would not hestitate to recommend the Lily Nook to any lily grower, both novice and advanced.

Ordered some Orienpet and Oriental Lilies from them this year. Bulbs were very small and as mentioned by another member, they admitted they were smaller than usual. Offered a refund but not wanting to miss planting season and kill the bulbs by digging them again in the spring I took the loss and will allow the bulbs to mature.

A wonderful offering of L.A. Lilies, which are still somewhat difficult to find. Bulbs are sometimes small so take a season or two to get established but worth the wait. Web site allows viewing of many varieties. Recommended.

Great lilium bulb selection. Very reputable company. I have ordered bulbs from this company and they stand behind them with a guarantee. They have a catalog on the web and you can get one mailed to you also. One of the bulbs rotted and I reported it to them. They said they were out of that bulb and would credit me or I could pick another on my next order. I just received the replacement bulb; it is the one I originally ordered. It just showed up in the mail. I was surprised and delighted since customer satisfaction is practically nonexistent these days. I just wanted to share this news with the group. What a classy company to deal with.
