I've planned to order from Schreiner's for decades and finally pulled the trigger this summer. Ordered 9 different tall bearded iris plus a bonus iris. Got the order in July short the bonus iris. Called right away and was promised the bonus iris the 1st week of August, or so. She was very nice about it. In the meantime, I planted the 9 I received. All were labeled and matched my order. I received the bonus iris the 2nd week of August. All are growing fine. Won't know if they actually match the pictures shown online until next Spring. So far, looks promising. FWIW: Since this was my first order I played it safe and ordered the cheap cultivars. Still got good service.

After being a loyal customer of Schreiner's for years, I am pretty disappointed with my last order. I ordered only three iris varieties this year - Dracula's Kiss, High Desert and Snow Melt. All three rhizomes I received were pretty small, and Snow Melt was substituted with Clarence, which has a washed-out look (Snow Melt is a high-contrast amoena). Quality is just not there anymore and prices are way too high - $50 for three small plants, with one of them being a sub I don't like. This was last time I ordered from Schreiner's...

In past years, I have received good service from Schreiners, but not in summer 2023. On 7/24/23, I placed an order for $80 worth of bearded iris. When I didn't hear anything more from Schreiners, I emailed them on 8/10/23 and received an email back a couple days later saying the iris were being dug up and mailed out within the week and I would receive a tracking number. No news. No iris. On 8/20/23, almost a month after I ordered the iris, I sent an email to Schreiners that canceled the order because I would be traveling soon and no longer had time to plant. They promptly responded with an email saying they would refund all but the 3.5% "cancellation charge" (which had never been mentioned previously.) Outrageous. I will not use them again. Beware that if you order from them, you may or may not get an order, but they will take your money.

Posted on April 12, 2023, updated April 12, 2023 Dry/desiccated “evergreen” daylily leaves; dug who knows when; I live only a few miles away, but might as well have come from another country; saving a photo as a reminder for the next time I hear “buy local”.

Be sure and COUNT what this company sends to you. I ordered 10 varieties and was really rather shocked that they left one out. I spread them out on the ground as soon as they arrived and counted and recounted and counted again. So after counting them all and matching to the count and the varieties ordered I called them and told them they did not include everything and told them the variety they left out. "Are you sure?" was the comment I got back. Well that was enough. "Ok , we'll send it out to you.". Well here I am 3 1/2 weeks later and I still don't have it. In the interim I emailed them and asked WHEN. "We don't have any of that variety now. We'll have to put it on the dig schedule. We still have humans working here and they make mistakes." Yes , you do. But you could have a better attitude about fixing your mistakes when you realize one is made. If I had cheated a customer (either on purpose or by mistake) and they caught it, I would be troubled and send someone out to get the missing item and ship it to the customer. This place isn't cheap. And for the price, I expect decent customer service with a friendly attitude. I will not be ordering from them again even if they eventually ship the rhizome they left out.

My first order of Daylilies from Schreiner's was nothing but top-quality plants ready to go into the ground. Some of the plants felt a little pricey at first (compared to what you might see for certain varieties in the "bulb catalogs") but once I received the plants it become apparent that the quality is probably FAR BETTER and more than justifies the asking prices. Many of the plants I received this fall are better described as "clumps" vs. "double fans". The smallest plant in my order, Burnin' Down The House, was not a double fan, but rather three husky singles.... I am very glad I snuck in my order before the end of their season, and honestly regret that maybe I didn't give them more of my business. I received two bonus plants that were introductions too, which I was not expecting. I am overall very pleased with what was sent, and will absolutely consider them again.

Just received, and planted, my second order of daylilies from Schreiner. Have used many sources over the past fifty years but have never found a better source. Beautiful specimens, every clump had at least three fans (by my count) and several had more. All looked like they had been dug up and trimmed just minutes before showing up at my Post Office box. I’m not a huge iris fan but past iris orders and selection match their daylilies. Can’t comment on customer service as I’ve never needed their help. My number one source, by far.

The iris rhizomes you get are huge, only ONE of ten iris has not yet developed flower a stalk after 1 growing season. These are high-quality rhizomes and absolutely worth the price. Definitely will shop again.

This is so far the best online live plants purchase experience I have ever had, period. I have tried so many different companies, over the years and when the local nursery closed during the pandemic, I was desperate enough to try even more. Shreiner's website is easy to use and informative, and oh my! So many choices! I have to admit that I was so tempted that I went way overboard from my original plan! I have read reviews of Shreiner's before I made the purchase, having had some really unpleasant experiences with online purchases, nevertheless, I was nervous since it was my first time with Shreiners. Made my purchase on August 12th, received my perfectly packaged rhizomes two days ago in Massachusetts, September 2nd! Wow! I have never received any order that speedily, except for Sooner Plant Farm and Bluestones Perennials. The bearded iris rhizomes were packed perfectly and carefully, they were of such good size and the sheer weight of each one guarantees freshness! Shreiner's also sent me bonus rhizomes, when I tried to see what they would look like on their website, I found out that some of them were of really high purchasing prices! Even the bonus rhizomes were of top quality! They have also included a little booklet to explain the proper planting and care for the irises, I have planted them right away and I cannot wait to see them bloom in the coming season! If this review sounds too much like a commercial it's because I am just so thrilled that I have found an online plants company of this high caliber, Thank You Shreiner's! I will be a loyal customer and keep returning each year to expand my Iris collection!

First time ordering from Schreiners. I received nice, big healthy looking rhizomes. Hopefully I'll post later about the beautiful blooms! I like their website. It's one of the best because you can search a lot of different ways, color, alphabetical, etc. I also really like they have a wishlist button. I like to shop several growers and Schreiners was easy to keep my list growing and move to my shopping cart when I'd decided what to buy and from where. I also liked that I knew what bonus I was getting. That was helpful in selecting some of the other iris I planned to purchase. I have been unpleasantly surprised by bonus from other companies because they were duplicates of what I had or colors I didn't want. I'll be keeping up my wishlist and ordering again next year!

While they sent nice, robust looking rhizomes that should do well, I have one small beef with them. They did enclose a letter with a credit certificate, explaining that they couldn't deliver one of my selections due to crop failures and exhaustion of stock. That was fine. I could order a different iris of the same price. When I called them to place that order, I was told I had the choice of either ordering a different iris or receiving a refund. However, in order to get the refund, I would have to mark on the certificate that I want a refund and return the certificate to them. This is inconvenient, and I feel it is putting me to more trouble than is warranted. They already have in their records that they couldn't deliver my previous order and that they sent the credit certificate. It would have been a simple matter, during our phone conversation, for them to have made the notation that I requested a refund, without making me jump through any hoops to get it. If I had chosen to order a different iris, they said I would still have to pay shipping and handling charges. That's fair enough, but making me return the certificate to get my money back instead of just sending it once they learn I had chosen that option places the responsibility on me when, really, it should be their responsibility. I have a problem with that kind of service -- it feels a little bit punitive.

On August 4th, 2016, flowermaiden2 changed the rating from neutral to negative and added the following: Thinking further on this, I really don't think it's fair that they should ask for ADDITIONAL shipping and handling for ordering a different iris of the same price, when they've already received it on the first order that they couldn't deliver. I included shipping and handling for my ENTIRE order, and to make me pay it again to fill that part of the order that they couldn't deliver is double-dipping. Sure, it would cost them money to ship the substitute, but they already got that money with the first go-around. Since I opted for a refund, It will be interesting to see if they include in it the shipping and handling costs for that one iris they couldn't ship, AFTER I've had to jump through the hoop of marking that option on the credit certificate and sending it back. It's beginning to feel more and more like they're trying to play games with me, and I have no use for that kind of dealing. So, I'm changing my rating from neutral to negative, because that kind of punitive policy is uncalled for. If they can't deliver an item from the original order when the shipping charges for the WHOLE ORDER have already been paid, they have no business making the customer pay those charges again.
On August 17th, 2016, flowermaiden2 added the following: I wish to add that I clicked on their e-mail link at the top of this page, and expressed exactly the same complaint as in this review. The e-mail went through successfully, That was weeks ago, and they HAVEN'T ANSWERED ME.
On August 26th, 2016, flowermaiden2 changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: I am changing my rating to a cautious positive. They have kept their word and refunded my money for the one iris they couldn't deliver, albeit my having to mark the credit certificate and send it back to them before they would do so. That shouldn't have been necessary. I told them on the phone I was opting for a refund. They could have noted it at their end and just sent it -- no hoops. Other companies I've dealt with gladly do so -- without putting me to any additional expense (postage) or other inconvenience. Still, they kept their word. The irises they did send are healthy and robust, and are beginning to grow. I'm noticing a new leaf on three out of four, and the fourth one is still nice and green and I can tell it's establishing itself. This company does deliver quality product. I still object to their policy of making customers pay additional shipping charges to replace portions of orders that couldn't be filled, when the replacements are the same price as in the original order. Those charges were already paid when the original order was made. This really is an unfair policy, and it seems to punish customers who use the credit certificates. That's how it felt to me. I do hope they will recognize this and change that policy. Once they've charged for shipping of an initial order, any part of that order they cannot deliver should be replaced without further charging the customer anything. The only exception would be if the customer orders a replacement that's more expensive than the original -- then additional shipping charges should be expected, along with paying the difference in price. It looks like I'm going to have four nice irises next Spring. I'm giving them credit for that, and for coming through with the refund.
On August 11th, 2018, flowermaiden2 added the following: I've just planted the four beautiful rhizomes with nice firm and green leaf cuttings that I ordered this year, and I anticipate lovely flowers next Spring. Irises I had ordered from Schreiner's two seasons ago came back again and bloomed this last Spring. At first, I wasn't sure if they would, and it did seem to take them a bit longer than it did the first season I planted them. But they came back and they were also very nice again this year. Schreiner's has come through again. Good work!
On July 25th, 2019, flowermaiden2 added the following: The eight rhizomes I received this year are healthy and large. They should do well. The irises I received last year and planted bloomed this year. I now have a nice variety of colors in their flowering stages, and have received compliments. Very nice!

Schreiner's are probably the most professional Iris growers that I've bought from and I've bought from many. Their rhizomes are fat and healthy, they pack in soft aspen fiber, not newspaper like some, and use their own heavyweight perforated boxes that never collapse like usps boxes will do. They only problem I've had is they are a bit dry and not freshly cut and I have got several (out of 100)with yellow fans that have not grown well. Haven't checked their guarantee yet. But they always include a few nice bonus roots with their orders. They are a little pricier than most but offer some great sales later in the season, although the best ones do sell out early. One small inconvenience is they may wait months to send out your order with only a weeks notice.

I received two orders from Schreiner's this year. The orders were well packaged and in good condition in spite of the journey across the country. The plants were robust and healthy. I did make a mistake by ordering two daylilies with realizing that daylilies and iris require separate shipping and additional shipping charges apply if your order contains both daylilies and iris. It was my error for not reading the fine print. Perhaps the person packing the order sensed this as the daylily plants were actually clumps of 2-4 fans rather that single fans, so I came out ok in spite of the additional shipping charge. I am sure I will order again.

Posted on May 16, 2014, updated September 13, 2018 Posted on August 22, 2013, updated May 16, 2014 I am really happy with the order I received today. I got 4 iris on sale and they included a beautiful free one. The rhizomes were packed so well in excelsior there wasn't any way they could have been damaged. Each rhizome had a tag with a picture so you didn't have to refer back to a catalog or website before planting. They included a detailed instruction book and even a card reminding you how many rhizomes were hidden away in the packing so you didn't forget any. Needless to say, the plants were very nice too.

On May 15th, 2014, doghill6 added the following: All my irises that I got last year bloomed with many flowers and they are quite beautiful. I am mostly used to the old fashioned irises that bloom in the older yards around here but these are amazing. The free one was just as nice as the ones I chose, and just as fragrant, too. I am very happy with this company.
On September 12th, 2018, doghill6 added the following: Last year I ordered some daylilies. Some were too small to ship so they asked me to choose between a partial shipment, or if I was willing to delay the entire order until spring, they would give me a free daylily. I love free, so I chose this option. I got my plants this year and they were great. When I looked online for info about the free one, I was amazed to see that it retails on their site for $120!!! Wow, thanks, that's more than my whole order. Also, they were all so big that all but two bloomed right away and some are still blooming. I am very pleased.

I ordered from Schreiners and Superstition Iris Gardens. Had I not ordered from Superstition, I would not have realized the difference. Superstition's were anywhere from 50% to 100% larger, and MUCH fresher looking, with huge roots. I spoke with both companies about my experience and Schreiner's said that tall iris' would have a much larger rhizome; but I did not order ANY tall iris. Also, Schreiner's did not ship the correct quantities. Look up Superstition Iris Gardens. Their site is not as easy to navigate as Schreiner's, but you can get a catalog for $1.50 if you want, which is what I might do next time.

Posted on November 11, 2017, updated November 11, 2017 We moved to Talent, OR, three years ago. The garden had been neglected for years, so there wasn’t much by way of “heritage” material to salvage. Consequently, I ordered iris rhizomes from a couple of different vendors. My first year was disappointing because none of the iris bloomed; they needed another year to establish. And then, they were not the varieties they were supposed to be! Still hopeful the second year, I ordered a number of plants from Schreiner’s. I received beautiful, big healthy rhizomes. Bursting with energy, they grew prodigiously, and gave me a fabulous display their very first season [Spring 2016]. This year, despite being hampered by the long smoky summer, I managed to create a new bed for another dozen plants. My order to Schreiner’s was literally last-minute. Not having completely learned my lesson, I once again made the mistake of ordering supplemental plants from a couple of other vendors. I will say only that one of them gave me a complete refund after we exchanged a series of expressive emails. In contrast, Schreiner’s huge plants vigorously sent out new growth as soon as I set them in the ground. I fully expect a great showing this coming Spring, and last year’s plants have increased dramatically. In regard to pricing, as a Vietnam vet on SS, I do a lot of comparison shopping. For example, I did a one-on-one comparison with one of Breck’s big 75% off “sales.” In every case, Schreiner’s was less at “regular” prices than Breck’s was at sale. Also, I’m not willing to wait two or three years for a plant to establish itself. Although Schreiner’s does not guarantee first year blooms, my experience is that with the proper care and planting, they probably will give one a great show. Finally, their customer service is outstanding: great personalized help for one’s questions. Highly recommended, they are now my only source for new iris.

On November 11th, 2017, Sterling1940 added the following: Oops, typo: that first season was Spring 2017. They were planted Fall 2016.

I have purchased from them with good results over many vears until Ziggy. My Ziggy iris has NEVER zigged - no stripes. I emailed the company and got a less that nice response that some Ziggy iris don't. Would have been nice if that little fact was mentioned in their catalog. So I no longer buy from them/

I have to say Schreiner's has been a shining beacon in my iris buying this year!! I placed an initial order for 20 iris earlier in the year and received them in early September. They were all big fat beautiful healthy rhizomes. I could not have been more pleased. So, when I got an email ad for end of season sale I was thrilled to purchase more. The later shipment arrived within 10 days of ordering and was just as nice quality as the first shipment. I discovered Schreiner's through an iris grower/seller here in my area who I buy from. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMITMENT TO QUALITY!!

I received my first order from Schreiner's a little over a week ago, they were dehydrated. They had been shipped by UPS via SurePost. I waited 10 days for the box of plants to arrive, I never waited that long with USPS and I realize neither of these companies are good everywhere. UPS is terrible here, but people up north swear by them. Maybe it would be nice if we had a choice, I would like to see shipping options and have the opportunity to pay a few dollars more for what works best for me. I do appreciate them trying to save me money, but I need 2-3 day shipping because it is so hot here. Enough about shipping! The rhizomes were a very good size and had small sprouts on all. My friend said it is normal for them to be a little dehydrated because of the way they are stored. I only ordered Iris one time before and I did not notice that but going on what she said I planted these and expect wonderful blooms! I loved the website, selection, information, prices, and even the customer service. I was emailing them every day and I was saying negative things, most companies want to ignore you when you do that . Not this lady, she kept right in touch with me and showed confidence that my box would be there and my plants would be ok. I am leaving Positive feedback because of great customer service and huge rhizomes! I can get over shipping problems, and at this point I am convinced that they are just fine! I will check back next year to make sure everything is true to name and doing well but I expect they will and I expect to do more business with this company. Thank you for reading my review!

Posted on September 27, 2014, updated September 7, 2015 Posted on August 9, 2014, updated September 27, 2014 Received iris yesterday and wow, they're huge. I can't help but wonder how exactly Schreiner's achieves such size? I've ordered from lots of companies this year and received healthy plants from them all but none sized like this. My husband said they're very substantive-like "ham hocks" (lol-men!). Planted them late last night and didn't water them because I ran out of daylight, went out this morning to do the watering and leaves already growing, so I'm impressed so far. Like other reviewers I've noticed Schreiner's offers lots of nice touches for their customers-pretty catalogs, very secure shipping and tags showing photographs and information on each rhizome. One touch they've missed out on-and one that I would find more valuable-is to send an email notifying when the package has shipped! I knew a few days in advance because I've signed up for UPS package notifications and Schreiner's sent them through UPS. Otherwise I would have had no idea. With all of the extra nice touches Schreiner's has I think they should definitely look into doing this as well, I'd imagine it would be easy to automate. It is really helpful to know when they're coming ahead of time. I'm hoping that the plants all do well and to have nice blooms in the future!

I have ordered irises twice from Schreiner's. If someone is looking for irises to buy, don't look anywhere else , but them. They send the plants you wanted, when they bloom you have what you ordered. Plants are fresh, big, packed properly. They give even choice for bonus plants. No other catalog or nursery will give the quality of plants as Schreiner's have, and the most important: they sent just any irises, but the one you want to have. I have plenty iises in my garden, but I can't say that I will not buy more, but only from Schreiner's. Thank you for the plants, thank you for the way you care for your customers. I have ordered iris from Schreiner's for years. I have won many ribbons at -iris shows with these same iris. I make a great deal of money selling my extra iris as they are so healthy and beautiful. (I don't want to throw them away, and I want to buy more from Schreiner's, so I sell them at an annual big Garage-ma-Haul. They go like hotcakes!) I have always had a good experience with my iris orders. They arrive in a ventilated box with careful packing and look as though they were just picked. I have called to have a few replaced the following spring when my new ones didn't make it, and Schreiner's has always replaced them. They are expensive but well-worth the cost. I would recommend buying a collection, as you can save a great deal.

I ordered last fall based on the reviews I read here. I was a little worried because I live in the intermountain west and our conditions are extremely harsh, unlike Oregon where these irises are grown. They arrived very well labeled with little pictures and I stuck them in the ground. Horrible weather conditions followed where it got cold, then Jan/Feb were very warm causing many plants to bud out early, then it got cold again wreaking havok. These little troopers were not fooled and the early ones are now blooming with more to follow. I got far better and stronger flowers than I expected for their first year and they are spreading fast. I am thrilled and plant to order more since they are so easy. I also love having colors no one else in the neighborhood has.

This is the second year I ordered from them. Their rhizomes are giants and always arrive very healthy. Every last one of my Irises last year obtained from Schreiner's bloomed and for that matter, they all had multiple blooms. When reviewing my starters that I bought from them this year, I can literally pick out the ones bought from them because they take off So well and grow much stronger and faster than anything else I have. I don't buy all my Irises from them because honestly, I can't afford it and would not have near the varieties I have, if I did. Also, sometimes they just don't have a variety I am looking for. But what I do order from them is always nothing short of amazing. And I was extremely happy with their bonuses last year. Change In the Weather was one of the prettiest Irises I have ever grown. I do highly recommend them.

I've placed two orders this year with Schreiner's and received the second one today, the first a few weeks ago. All are healthy and large. My only complaint is that they don't advise you when they are shipping. It sure would make life a bit easier to have their "new homes" ready when they arrive.

I have placed two orders from Schreiner's this year. I'm very pleased with both orders. This is THE place to get your iris on-line. The only time I go to a different nursery is if I'm looking for a cultivar Schreiner's does not list in their catalog or on their website.....and then I'm ALWAYS disappointed because nobody else sends the healthiest, biggest, well-packaged, beautifully identified iris that Schreiner's does. They are my GO TO nursery for my tall bearded iris. I can order with confidence from them. Also, the bonus iris is always a welcome addition to the order. You can't ask for more that that !

It took me a while to narrow down to what I can afford both in terms of price and space. Order came in mid July. Very nicely packaged and labeled. Got an additional bonus iris. Thank you.

I also ordered three for my Wild-Color Section: Starship Enterprise, Zandria, and Isn’t This Something. My bonus iris Winterfest is now in my white garden. Customer service is excellent. The iris were packed and shipped like rare antiques. What a shock to discover that other mail order companies do not provide the same type of plants!(just little dried up bits that take forever to eke out a leaf). I also very much appreciate the small color photo tags on each iris. I diligently followed all iris planting instructions; including cutting back the leaves in the fall. All the foliage just about immediately grew back. All the iris quickly matched mature plants in my garden. (And it was another record breaking long hot summer drought for the East Coast) The printed catalog is excellent. The photographs are beautiful and the color appears very true to nature. I have now started an Iris Wish List to include the other types of iris. It’s very difficult to narrow my decision, so I spend lots of time looking through the catalogs. The photograph of Power Point is so stunning. While many of the iris colors are similar this one is just not quite pink, not totally white, so I am going to have to buy one just to see how the flower looks live in person. I’m thrilled to say iris are one of the few plants the deer won’t even taste—and they at least bite just about everything. And while the devious Mole People have swiped quite a few tulips and decimated several daylilies, they don’t bother the iris at all.

My order arrived on time, the rhizomes looked great, healthy, clearly labeled. The package contained a bonus iris too. I planted them couple days later, and now (late fall) they look great and I have high hopes for them. Also, I have visited the gardens in the late spring - the admission to the fields and to the gardens is free. And the owners throw the best party ever for Memorial Day. I have met people who traveled out of state for the experience. I love this company - a lovely place to visit, and a great business to deal with.

Fist time ordering from this company. Was specifically looking for white bearded irises to add to the garden. Easy to navigate website and online checkout. When iris arrived the rhizomes are huge, labeled with tags, well packaged. As a first time customer, I was very impressed. I will do a follow up next spring when the iris bloom.

Posted on April 13, 2012, updated July 27, 2012 Posted on September 30, 2011, updated April 13, 2012 No wonder Schreiner's garden is popular place to buy irises. I never see huge, healthy rhizomes like that, 8 out of 10 rhizomes that I order were very large compared to most irises I bought from other top rated sellers. Nicely packed and labeled, easy check out and find different varieties over web page, complete description and real fresh dug roots, and 50% red star discount is my favorite. Only problems are no comminication until package is arrived unless you asked the questions, so better send the questions you wanted to know including shipping date. Also shipping takes about a month after you placed the order but worth to wait. I found some beautiful irises and look forward to buy more next year.

On April 13th, 2012, bluebuster77 added the following: WOW! most irises are loaded of buds and ready to bloom. Amazing!!! I thought that this irises are only bloom after a year from start growing. Thank thanks thanks... All the plants are healthy and green as well, I feed the low nitrogen fertilizer as instructed.
On July 27th, 2012, bluebuster77 added the following: This is second year doing business with Schreiner's garden. You can imagine amount of joy when you open the package to see large, plump, healthy irises rhizomes. This is only you can get from Schreiner. My second year purchase was fewer than first year, however, generous large size bonus irises are included. Thanks

Posted on July 2, 2012, updated July 26, 2012 Ordered from Schreiner's for the first time last spring and chose July shipping for the 30+ Iris I ordered. I've ordered Iris from other companies in the past, rhizomes were far inferior in size and they didn't ship until septemer, none of them ever made it so I figured receiving them in July would give them a little more grow time. All the Schreiner Iris survived and I would say 80% flowered this past spring. Loved it! However, I did notice one of the varieties, Ghost Rider, which flowered, had been mislabled. I emailed them on June 24th also attaching a photo of the unknown Iris, which looked a lot like 'High Chapperal' (I browsed their website looking for one that looked like the Iris I received....In the process ended up placing an order for more!) Anyway, I heard back the next day from Annette saying that they were sorry I received the wrong plant and yes it did look like 'High Chapperal' and that they would be sending a replacement in July. Very quick response. Thank you very much, I'll definitely will be ordering from them in the future!

On July 26th, 2012, mc003 added the following: Receied my new order plus the replacement and a bonus was included! Thanks!! All looked large and healthy, will be planting them this weekend. Can't wait for next spring! :)

I ordered 9 iris from Shreiner's this spring - my grandmother and mother had been a customer of theirs for years and the tradition continues. All iris received were in excellent condition and very large. My order from their website included 2 bonus iris that I chose and I was surprised to find 2 additional bonus iris in the box when it arrived...great company with a great history!

I placed an order back in May for July delivery after reading the reviews here. I received my order today (should have been yesterday but UPS delivered my iris to the neighbor's house) and I am very pleased. All of the iris are large and plump (including the generous number of bonus plants) and packaging was simple but highly effective. Also, customer service was very friendly and responsive while I was trying to locate my package, too. I will definitely order from them again in the future.

When I purchased my home I could not wait to have a flower garden . Iris have always been one of my favorite flowers. A friend shared some of her " Schreiner's iris " with me. They were awsome. Last year I purchased & planted some from Schreiner,s. I purchased 8 & recieved two free " bonus " iris. 8 of the 10 bloomed the first year. Beautiful healthy iris. I will post some photos. They were from their "sale " iris & did not get into the ground till the last half of August. I live in Northern Minnesota, they still did well. I ordered more this year. All look healthy & are huge ! The staff @ Schreiner's are allway helpfull if I call with questions. I really like the discription of the iris on their web site.

I ordered several iris august 15 online, and received an email confirmation. After waiting two weeks, I called today to check the status. They had received my order, but it was never filled. The person with whom I spoke did not know why. I cancelled the order because the next shipment was not until 9/6. As this was my first order, I have no idea of the quality of their iris. If you decide to order, I suggest a followup call.

I ordered nine re-blooming iris. They arrived beautifully packed and each was tagged with a plastic label that has a color picture of the bloom, brief planting instructions, and estimated height. The tags were of great help when I was placing them in the flower beds. I also received two bonus iris of their choice at no charge. Great service.

I placed my first order with Schreiner's last year and planted them in a new bed. I am new to Iris gardening...I had ordered a few two years before from a different company and was underwhelmed with the plants the first year although they were much fuller in year two. The Schreiner iris that came up this year are gorgeous..several blooming stalks from each rhizome. I lost four of them over the winter but I think critters ate them so I can't blame Schreiner's. They are pricey so that was an expensive meal for somebody, but if you want to be certain you will have a gorgeous display your first year...I don't think you can go wrong with Schreiner's. The catalogue is to die for but will make you want to spend your money!

Package arrived one day earlier than they predicted. Irises were very large and healthy, just like the pictures in their catalog. Everything was packed and labeled perfectly. Their normal prices are a bit high, but the sale prices were a great deal.

Posted on August 4, 2010, updated September 22, 2010 What a nice place to do business with! I ordered 16 tall bearded iris and received two bonuses with the order which was beautifully packed and in fine condition with nice, plump rhizomes. Their catalog is to die for and will keep me going back for years to come, if I can find room to plant more of these glorious flowers. I really appreciate their plant guarantee and hope that I don't need it next year. Will report back in the spring to let you know how everything is going. Colleen in Polson, MT

I ordered from Schreiner's for the first time at the 2010 summer sale, eight irises. They arrived looking healthy and plump, plenty of roots, packed well in excelsior, and all labeled. Most of the ones I ordered were black, and one of the two bonuses they sent was also black (nice attention to detail). My mother checked to be sure I'd planted them correctly and said, "That's where I used to get all my irises 40 years ago."

I ordered from Schreiner’s summer sale, and the rhizomes they sent were large to moderate in size, many with increase on them, and very healthy. They always are—I’ve never been disappointed. They were generous with bonuses, too. I once had the chance to tour their headquarters during bloom season, and it was a wonderful experience. My only problem with Schreiner’s is their artificially inflated prices. Their base price for a rhizome this year is $12.50. To get a reasonable price, you either have to use their Red Star Discount program (order $80’s worth and get them for half price) or else buy from the summer sale. It’s customary in the iris business to introduce new irises at a high price (some of Schreiner’s new intros this year are $60) and gradually reduce the price over a period of years. I don’t begrudge them that. But to charge $12.50 for an iris that they introduced 20 or 25 years ago and have been making money on ever since—well, it just doesn’t seem reasonable to me, especially in difficult economic times like these. I would like to see them offer some of the older irises at fair market value, right up front, so that people who can’t afford to spend $40 can still enjoy irises. If ever there were a time when people needed the beauty of irises to brighten their days, this is it. I’d like to see Schreiner’s (which really is a good company) become a bigger part of making that happen.

Along with Cooley's one of the finest suppliers of Iris that you will find. Their stock is excellent, shipped strong and large. Little chance of failure and if it does in the first year they will replace. Enjoy ordering from them and will continue to do so.
