I am aware Lawyer Nursery is wholesale only. I bought 5 Granny Smith apple trees and several black plums to meet the minimum order shortly before they removed this requirement. Less than a year after planting, two of the (rather expensive) apple trees have rotted at the base and died. The rot started where the trees were pruned by the nursery to fix a competing central leader issue. I called customer service and the lady said they would not do anything to resolve this matter. Therefore, I am left with no other choice than to pursue avenues such as this. The wet newspaper that is used to keep the roots moist was scattered into the branches upon unpacking the box. This didn't seem to cause any harm to the trees, but I thought I should mention it anyways. Perhaps they should use a "This End Up" sticker.

Too bad there's not a rating for "extremely positive". I was looking for something that was fairly hard to find -- fresh, wild-type, Kootenai-source Thuja plicata seeds. Another nursery suggested I try Lawyer Nursery, and indeed, they had just what I was looking for. I asked them how much they'd cost, and they quoted me a price per pound. I stated that I only wanted about 50 seeds... and they sent them to me absolutely free! And when they arrived, it wasn't just 50 -- it was many hundreds. How more worthy of a positive review can you get than that?

We ordered seeds and shrub liners from Lawyer Nursery. The seeds arrived timely, and were fresh, well-packaged, and well labeled. The shrub liners arrived in 2 packages. The first package was timely, well-packaged, well labeled, and fresh. The second package was delayed almost 10 days due to snow, floods, avalanches and numerous road closures. Despite those unavoidable delays, the plants were fresh and healthy. We will not hesitate to order from Lawyer Nursery in the future.

Setting up our nursury with Blue Spruce trees, we ordered 3500 1"-3" bare root stock of the "Majestic Blue" variety. The stock arrived in good condition. When we planted there was particularly hot weather and we ended up loosing all the plants. Upon contacting the company and explaining our situation they graciously replaced our trees with larger stock. We have been very pleased with our experience with this company and look forward to buying from them again.

One of my backyard hobbies is growing certain tree species. I understand that Lawyer Nursery does wholesale business only. I did contact them and asked them if they could let me know who some of their retail customers were, because I wanted to buy some of the 2'-3' red spruce transplants they advertised. They did provide me with a generic website (nurseryguide.com); however it did not provide me with any leads. So-I am no closer to being able to purchase these 2'-3' red spruce transplants. Does anyone have any constructive suggestions as to how I could acquire some of these red spruce transplants? The only other source I"ve found after endless googling is 6"-12" transplants, which is smaller than I'd like.

I ordered from Lawyers for the first time this year. I was very pleased with the quality of the stock I received and plan to order from them again next spring.

I put in several orders from different Western US Nurserys for more exotic species than I could find in my area. I purchased 400 tree seedlings from Lawyer Nursery and I must say they knew what the where doing, unlike some. The trees where of excellent quality and they where packaged the way trees are meant to be shipped across the United States. All arrived wet and healthy. I have gotten many groups of seedlings in the past few years and the sizes of the seedlings tended to vary greatly with a few nice large ones, some mid grades and most small low grade stock. All the tree seedlings I recieve from Lawyer Nursery where of a consisitant size start to finish. To soon to tell how many will survive but the as of now all have leaved out. I give them an A+

The quality of the plant stock we received was fine - no complaints about that. But Lawyer substituted more expensive stock for the stock we ordered in several instances without telling us in advance. We are a small conservation district which funds programs by selling plants by preorder - so we had no way to pass the increased costs on to our customers, and were stuck with the pricier stuff. In addition, Lawyer would not allow us to adjust our order, even two weeks in advance of the delivery date (every other vendor we used allowed us to increase or decrease each item at this time, based on how many orders our customers had placed). So, we probably won't be using them in the future - nice stuff, but customer service is lacking.

I live in a remote area of Alaska, far removed from Lawyer Nursery and have always had to rely on it to exercise its judgment to make adjustments on size and grades of trees ordered due to availability or to avoid a harsh jump in shipping costs. Its staff has always treated me and others in Alaska as though we were all in a small town and could rely on fairness and extra effort by it, and they answer questions taking considerable research (e g., how to get certain seeds to germinate and survive in Alaska).

The plant material I received from Lawyer was big and appeared healthy when I opened the well packaged boxes. The lilacs were huge. I ordered pines, roses, apple, plum and cherry trees. They are all doing great. I had some bad luck with my maple and paper birch trees though. I know Lawyer does not guarantee their stock, but I let them know that they didn't grow anyway. They responded with an offer to replace my losses next spring. I was impressed. It turns out that I didn't "sweat" the maples and birch. I'll have to learn more about this before I receive my replacement shipment. You can't beat the prices with this company either!!

Have purchased plant material, primarily pinus, for a number of years and have always found them easy to do business with and their material always arrived as instructed and in good shape.

A few years ago I ordered stock from Lawyers. They substituted tiny stock for some larger stock ordered, without notifying, and it arrived in poor condition and non lived. Much of the stock, notably evergreens, arrived dead slimy and moldy. They credited for some of the stock, but did not refund (I have not used them since, so they still owe me that credit). Most of what I ordered they did not acknowledge my complaints about, and since the original complaint they have ignored most of my correspondence. I was definitely not impressed. To be fair, one batch of Syringa reflexa and one batch of Red Buckeye were in excellent condition. The rest was junk.

I have used Lawyer Nursery several times to purchase stock for our small nursery. They are always pleasant to deal with, knowledgable, and helpful. The stock always arrived when anticipated, and proved healthy and vigorous. Their catalog is jam-packed with woody materials, and information on their cultivation. Their tabloid price-list usually has a theme to help me promote specific materials to my customers, and they sell seed as well! Lawyer Nursery never made any distinction between myself and the larger nurseries. They have always aimed to please, and have proven helpful beyond expectations! I heartily recommend their services to anyone desiring bare-root nursery stock or seeds!

Beware - they state that they have no warranty and they mean just that - I had a large order and most of it came it fine, but the 50 Clematis which I orered were dry as a bone and no life (I have a college horticulture degree) I called them and they stood firmly behind the no warranty policy upon arrival.

Company representative comment on February 26, 2002:
Lawyers Nursery refunded the customer's purchase price for all stock shipped at the time the dispute occurred, and we consider the dispute resolved in the customer's favor. As a wholesale supplier of bareroot nursery stock to growers worldwide we warrant plant material to arrive in good condition. Late season orders (after June 1st) may be shipped under agreement with the buyer at the buyer's risk.
