I've had my pond with approximately a 4' waterfall for 10 or 12 years now, and I've gone through numerous waterfall pumps. I bought this one at Lowe's about a year ago....it pumps 330 gals. per hour and is for a medium (6' x 9') sized pond. It was comparatively priced.

The pumps I've had in the past have had varied lifespans, this one I don't know about yet because I've only had it for a year. Some of the others didn't last even a year. The reason I so highly recommend this particular pump is because I don't have to pull it out of the water and clean the algae and other gunk off of it, so it'll flow, every couple of days. Every single other pump I've had required cleaning off every, at the max, 6-7 days. This one will pump at it's normal rate, which is a good flow, for 6 to 8 WEEKS before it needs cleaning! Even in the summer when the algae and pond grass is thick!
