Amherst Nursery & Flower Shop was sold in December 2007 to John and Deb Cochran. It is now Amherst Garden Center & Flower Shop and, contrary to the current posting (which was posted WELL before "March 2008"), we boast HUNDREDS of ornamental and shade trees, shrubs and evergreens, as well as annuals and perennials, tropicals, aquatics and koi, flower arrangements, a gift shop and landscape design and installation. It is our goal to breathe life back into this sleepy little nursery and you'll be pleasantly surprised when you stop in now!! Our Spring hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Sometimes, things between an employer and an employee don't work out. Difficult and, in some cases, painful decisions have to be made in order to move forward. It makes us sad that a former employee would say things that could potentially harm our business and, by extension, put our kids at a disadvantage. At the same time, however, it confirms that our decision was the right one. We wish her the best and hope she chooses to funnel that passion into something positive for herself and her future. Sincerely, John and Debbie Cochran

I had not visited in a while, and wow was I pleasantly surprised! Superior quality of all plants and trees not to mention extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. I really enjoyed how the plants were organized, with plenty of information readily at hand. I will definitely be back! Best garden center I have visited in some time.

As a former employee for the past 4 years I have a real "in" to how this garden center really works.
I wouldnt recommend anyone shopping at this location.
As it is with every company, employees make up a large aspect of the buisness. I gained many relationships with customers, and they will all be missed.
The owners of this company have no respect for the people who work for them and make up lies continually to cover their own mistakes. No one deserves to be treated as I was and they will never change.
Supporting this company means supporting people tho truely dont know how to respect people.
I worked at the Garden Center a few years before realizing the entire time I was just being used. Unfortunatly I was naive because I had a personal relationship with the owners, but I never want to hear that they have successfully done what they did to me to anyone else.
Shop two seconds up the street on the left at Bedford Fields, where I hear the owners are worth keeping the buisness alive.

Well, here it is the end of the season, but a recent visit and I was pleased to see they have the best looking shrubs I have seen in a while. Really well-grown, high quality plants and good selections, especially for this time of year. It is evident they have been well cared for.

Also the fall annuals caught my eye and they were not beat up already as I have seen elsewhere. Many mums still had closed buds. I have amazingly (for me!) not bought many mums this year because they have just not been too appealing looking. But the one's here finally got me excited.

But the absolute best part about Amherst GC is how knowledgeable John is. I consider myself a plant-geek and I do know quite a bit about plants. But I learned plenty from John in just one short visit. He was very helpful on the technical side as well as design ideas.

Too bad the place doesn't look like much from the road. A hidden gem (literally and figuratively)

This small garden center doesn't look like much from the road as you pass by, but it's larger than it looks and worth a visit, especially if you are interested in ponds. It is one of the few garden centers in the area with a nice selection of aquatic plants and they have a beautiful display pond on-site as well. They don't carry many shrubs or trees - mostly perennials and annuals.

I haven't been here recently, but I'm told they carry a larger selection of trees and shrubs now. Worth a visit!
