I went to Plant Delights during their open house. I had a wonderful time. There were several plants that I have never seen except in magazines and books. I enjoyed touring their garden and got several ideas for my garden. I bought lots and lots of healthy plants. The staff were great!!! I have ordered from their web site before and look forward to their next open house. I love this place!!!

What can I say, there is so much to say!! Plant Delights is a retail and online plant nursery. The nursery is only open to the public on certain days of the year, so check before you go, but what a great place to visit!

Stroll around the huge display garden area and through about 8 or so large greenhouses. Everything is well organized and clearly marked with plant growing needs, common and/or botanical names, rarity etc. This is the best place in the area to visit for the new and unusual plant. They constantly introduce new cultivars to the growing region, and your "I want" list will be huge. I love being able to see the mature plant out in the gardens, then purchasing a smaller one with a good idea of what it will look like at maturity.

Plant delights clearly emphasizes new and unique plants, but is also the place to go in this area to see a zillion varieties of hosta, euphorbia, crinums etc.

Because this is not a retail nursery, per se, they do not carry garden supplies etc, just plants. The staff is knowledgeable and the plants healthy, though many can be fairly high priced for their size. This is generally because they are newer or rare introductions which you can't get at chain stores or other nurseries. It appears most if not all of the plants are propagated on site, a huge plus. Every plant I have purchased there thrives because its healthy and its proven to grow in my area.

Don't live in the area? Get their fact- filled and very funny catalog. The pics and descriptions are wonderful. They also do many classes and workshops on site. Just a wonderful place to walk, learn, buy the new and unique plant and enjoy!
