I agree with the other reviewers, but note that they are not giving away catalogs this year. When you arrive, they hand you a catalog sealed in mylar that you return when you leave. You can also get a single-sheet printout of the new plants added this year, and you can always review their catalog online. I am fairly certain they do not do mail order.

This is absolutely one of my favorite places to buy perennials (note no shrubs or trees sold here), and I love the way the plants are arranged by shade, part sun, and sun as front, middle, and back.

If you go on a sultry or misty day, bring plenty of bug dope. The nursery is situated near a wet boggy area, and the mosquitoes are relentless. Don't worry about soggy shoes, though. The Blanchettes puts down landscaping cloth along all the paths, so walking around is quite easy.

I went to Blanchett's last year for new hostas and had the time of my life! I bought 16 plants at good value. The place is definately a treasure - so many different plants and well organized and displayed. If you are in the area - well worth the trip!

Blanchette Gardens carries many varieties of perennials, many uncommonly found in the plant trade. It is a great place to buy astilbes, hostas, daylilies, shade, rock garden plants. Visit their website to see the prices and varieties they carry. If you stop by the nursery you can pick up the free catalog that also lists this information. The plants are organized and easy to find. The location of each plant is found in the catalog by row # so you can find things easily versus other nurseries (and due to their large selection it is great they have things organized!). The owner, Leo Blanchette, is a frequent, very knowledgeable speaker at local garden clubs, library talks, etc. Recently they have been adding display gardens which is a great way to see the plants in the landscape.

Blanchette has an interesting selection of shade plants, including a vast array of Astilbe and Hosta. Plant quality is high and prices are quite reasonable as well. They're written up in The Adventurous Gardener.
