Bookcliff Gardens is the valley's most well-known Nursury, but I feel they may be suffering from their dominance.
In Favour: A decent perennials selection in not only trade gallon, but two-inch pots. New and interesting annual series are offered. An effort is made to offer some unusual and exotic plants, good selection of vines, great selection of trees. Cactus and succulents offered. Autumn-planted bulb selection, especially tulips, is excellent. Big selection of chemicals and equipment.
Against: Worstly, Bookcliff Gardens has become rather expensive, charging far too much for plants that are available other places locally of no lesser quality. They are thriving on a customer base that must simply patronise them out of habit. Annuals are most unforgivably pricey. The high price tags stay on trees kept in black plastic pots exposed to the sun. In this climate, it tends to burn the roots, and mid- or end-of season healthy-looking trees may actually be quite damaged upon purchase.
Their gallon perennials are simply too expensive for plants that are just unestablished bareroot stock.
