I've visited Whitney Gardens and Nursery numerous times. They specialize in rhododendron and azaleas, but also offer other flowering shrubs (cameillias, hydrageas, etc.) as well as perennials and annuals and some ornamental trees such as Japanese maples and Laburnum. Their garden is a breathtaking sight during the spring when the azaleas and rhodies are in bloom. They have some mature rhodies which are probably close to 20 feet tall.

I bought numerous plants and shrubs from them (let me see, something like 4 rhodies, 6 azaleas, 2 cameillas, 2 hydrangeas). Some I bought on site, and some I had shipped to my home. They were all excellent, healthy specimens and have done well--even after being moved cross country to West Virginia. The nursery staff give you personal attention and will help you select cultivars that will do well in your USDA zone if you ask for their help. The selection is nothing short of amazing. I've never seen such a variety of different cultivars available in one place before. The prices are very reasonable.

Their annual catalog is amazing. Until I visited here, I had absolutely no idea of the variety of cultivars available in rhodies and azaleas. The catalog is informative, as well as having some beautiful pictures. It's well worth the price to order it. If you are anywhere near Washington State near Mother's Day, do yourself a favor and visit Whitney Gardens and Nursery.
