The capitol building has recently undergone a $104 Million dollar restoration and renovation and at the same time the park was restored. The park features a rose garden, spring bulb plantings, large mature speciman trees, pretty cast iron fencing surrounding the garden and numerous Civil War era monuments. The statues include: Washington on horse back, Stonewall Jackson, Edgar Allen Poe as well as others that are beautifully laid out in the gardens. The park is close by to the Museum and White House of the Confederacy. You can walk over so no need to drive and find parking again. Worth a visit! |
