I've been shopping here for years. The selection of perennials, shrubs and trees is excellent (I'm fairly ignorant of their annual pricing/selection). They're also willing to order in something not in stock. The staff is always pleasant, courteous and reasonably knowledgeable. Extremely so once you've worked your way up the food chain. Prices of plant materials is fair to pricey although sometimes equivalent to the big box stores. The one complaint I have is the marketing of pesticides, herbicides, ... For instance Neem oil products are only available in spray bottles (not oil concentrate). The same is true for the herbicides (at best 8% concentrate instead or 25 or 50%). Generally a great place to shop and get inspired.

Sixteen Acres has a beautiful store/greenhouse area filled with 1000's of indoor plants, on tables and hanging of all sizes. They also have a fairly wide selection of indoor and outdoor gardening decorations, supplies and more....they are often the first to have new things in the area. for instance they had the swirled glass gazing balls before anyone else around here.

They also have classes, about 1-2 hours long on advertised Saturdays & I think Sundays too, but i'm not sure on this point. i've attended a couple and the women giving the class were very knowledgeable but could express themselves well to all levels of learning. They even had a raffle at the end of them and i won a pair of gardening scissors, which worked well, until I lost them, which I do all the time with those things. :-)

Come April, and the weather starts to warm, they'll start putting perennials in their outdoor area. They have everything from trees, bushes to small potted perennials. Also outside for your buying enjoyment are larger decorations for your yards and gardens. I believe most of them are cement or another durable outdoor material. Their prices are competitive with other sellers of this type of product.

Come May, they start to get their annuals in and the tables are full from top to bottom with flats, pots of all sizes, including hanging baskets. When you arrive you can grab yourself a red wagon or other cart and start to peruse the aisles for your perfect selections. The prices are competitive with others.

The reason that they didn't get an excellent from me, was because they do not take back their annual plants, for any reason.

You will enjoy your trip to Sixteen Acres. It is a nice place to visit and knowledgeable people work here. You won't get a bargain here, but you will get a fair value for your dollar, and most likely walk out with more good quality plants than you had planned on.
