Information on Atlantic Nursery

I have been a customer of Atlantic since forever & have always enjoyed my experience here. Nursery is located a couple blocks away from the famous Nautical Mile which is perfect for a bite to eat after shopping for gardening supplies. Staff is friendly enough but can seem a little overwhelmed during busy seasons. If you have questions about growing the common plants & tropicals they sell you\'re in good hands. Atlantic excels in its no nonsense approach to gardening on Long Island with emphasis on organics. It was because of them that I got turned on to using Bumper Crop in my vegetable garden as well as my tropical beds. They have a decent selection of lawn, gardening, & landscaping products but wish they carried certain items in larger sizes for those of us who need more. They also carry the 3.8 cu.ft bale of Pro-Mix BX for anyone on the Island here looking for a source. Beautiful variety of plants for almost every taste. Prices are respectable considering you are getting mature, healthy specimens in bloom that are ready to go out into the landscape. One star off for their vegetable plants as their selection is iffy & sometimes the plants are leggy. They have a large selection of pollinator plants, trees, & shrubs & their educational flyers are free. I especially like that they carry a wide variety of tropicals which I personally grow & are difficult to find elsewhere around here. My most spectacular find at Atlantic Nursery was last year when I happened to be in the area & decided to stop by for a quick looksie. In the back hot house were five 4\' tall Versicolor Peach Brugmansia already in bloom! This was such an exciting thing for me since I am a grower of these magnificent plants & am always looking around to add to my collection. Atlantic\'s brugs were gorgeous, pest-free, & robust & the price was fair for what a specimen of that size & form usually goes for. Planted mine in the ground & the thing took off like gangbusters! Never had a plant so eager to grow & bloom like this one. Within 3 mos the plant was dripping with blooms. So if that\'s any testimony to the condition of the plants they sell, the time & money spent there are well worth it. Stopped by earlier this year to discover much to my chagrin that the items I used to shop here for are no longer being carried & have been replaced by others I find to be of lesser quality or just not what I need. Selection of plants was disappointing this year. Suffice it to say, I will be shopping elsewhere for my gardening needs.
