I'm not a serious brugmansia grower. I just have a couple for fun, but I enjoyed this book alot.

Well written, and tons of great images are a huge plus. I'm proud to say I have it.

I purchased this book, along with it's English translation, in 2004. I had been growing brugs for 2 years prior to purchasing this book, and after reading Monika's book, I have a better understanding of them.

The photos are gorgeous and I learned so much about Brugmansia. I've spent many winter evenings paging through this book and I always find a little something that I hadn't picked up on before.

I live in a climate where I have to let my brugs go dormant and store them in the crawl space of our house for the winter, but someday I hope to live in a climate where I can leave my brugs in the ground year round and enjoy them to their fullest. This book will remain with me, and looked at often, until I reach that goal.

I got Monika Gottschalk's Englestrompeten and the translation thanks to Bonnie last year when first available in the US. It has been invaluable to me in researching things I need to know to grow brugmansias better. I have grown brugs a long time, but still much I did not know. It has been a great reference.
I asked Monika since my copy if we could offer her book here in the USA. Finally worked out this spring, we offer signed copies of Englestrompeten and its English translation via our Dave's Garden store ..Karchesky Canna. We will also be offering it at our Karchesky Canna website. We are honoured to offer Engelstrompeten and its English translation here in the USA.

Searched all over for English version of this great book. Even contacted publisher in Germany; all to no avail. Then I found it on They sell the German version that comes along with an English translation! This is an excellent addition to anyone interested in Brugs and Daturas.

Cumbersome going from German to the translation. Very nice pics. Not a whole lot applies to my zone and soil type. I did enjoy the Pressiel book more, probably because it was in English, but have given that away also. Growing brugs is like growing perennial tomatoes. As for hybridizing, no serious hybridizer is going to give all their secrets, and who can fault that?

I LOVE this book - so much I have 2. Monika's photos throughout the book on her brugmansia's are gorgeous. Monika's explanations and photos on potting, taking cuttings, overwintering etc. are easy enough for even me to understand. This has become one handy book. Highly recommend.

This books reader friendly approach has instilled the confidence I've needed to grow these gorgeous plants. Following these detailed instructions will have you feeling you don't need years of experience to be successful. EXCELLENT book. The above reviews have said it all.
Monika, makes it easy for everyone from the beginner to the expert. I have applied her information many times to my growing of brugmansias. This is a must-have as a reference book if you are growing brugs. I recommend this book highly and I know everyone will love it as I do.

Easy reading, easy directions and gorgeous pictures. Also, has pictures with directions for achieving the end results that Monika has with her brugs.

Before getting this book I was flying by the seat of my pants. I found this book to have all the information to not only grow brugmansia, but it gives all the information needed to identify damage from bugs/worms/disease/and viruses and what to do about it. The pictures are wonderful. When purchasing this book, you need to get it from one of the places selling it here in the states that provides an English translation, and it is excellent. The book itself is written in German. I highly recommend this book for the beginner to the expert. It truly is the best thing going for brugmansia growers.

I bought this book and then got to know the delightful author, Monika Gottschalk, on Dave's Garden.

Engelstrompeten (Brugmansia) would be enjoyed not only by the brugmansia grower but by anyone who wants to enjoy colorful and unusual flowers that can grow to over 1 foot in length. Many color photos of different varieties as well as their descriptions, critiques and their hybridizer are discussed. Some of the varieties shown are not available in the United States and were hybridized by the author herself who has grown "brugs" for over 25 years.

A must have book for the brugmansia grower. The author freely shares her knowledge that took her over 25 years of brug growing to gather. The reader will learn all of the basics of growing a healthy and beautifully shaped brugmansia tree as well as detailed instructions on how to winter this tree over in a dormant state to bringing it out in the spring for another season of beauty. So even a person who lives in Alaska, can have this tropical tree growing successfully in their garden year after year and be the talk of the town with such an unusual blooming tree. Watering, feeding, pests and possible diseases are all covered in depth.

Another rewarding aspect of brugmansia growing is how easily it can be propagated by cuttings to share with your friends. Again, step by step instructions are given in a clear and easily understood manner. The know how and thrill of hybridizing new varieties is also explained to any who want to venture into this rewarding aspect of growing brugmansia.

The author, Monika Gottschalk, shares pictures of her inspirational "Alley" with the reader. These bloom laden trees that line her alley create a vision of heaven on earth with their profuse colorful flowers hanging down from every branch.

This book (going into its 4th printing) is written in German however a paperback English version (no pictures) is supplied in addition to the book for clear and easy understanding If you order from one of her United States or Canadian suppliers. Email the author for her book supplier list thru her brugmansia website (check out the incredible pics), or to her home email, .
